TY for all the replies I just love this community!
You got me pondering/doubting whether holding off on the vette and fully engineer my cutter instead.
Could it be possible I won't be needing a vette any more (and just switch modules in mu cutter)?
And how grindy is engineering? I looked at Farseer, I still need an meta alloy (or something) to unlock.
I know its kinda off topic from my original thread but since I got your attention anyway.
So basic, should I get my cutter rigged for mining, fuel scoop,....?
I don't think it's grindy at all, anymore, but I am comparing it to the old, very grindy system, to be fair.
What are your preferred playstyles?
You can make the engineering goals dovetail with your in-game goals, and vice versa.
If you find yourself wanting to visit the Pleiades, well by all means stop and pick up those meta-alloys.
Likewise, if you are doing lots of exploring, you can use the data to unlock some of the permits and engineers.
Don't just sell it to anyone.
You will make progress with some of the engineers even if you don't try.
Once you engineer your first ship, you'll see it's not a big fuss at all.
I say get/keep both and engineer them all!
Honestly, if you ground out the rank for a Cutter already, I say you kind of owe it to yourself to experience what those ships can actually do.
It's way nicer to fly fully engineered, and that is the easy part by comparison.
It took me weeks to get a Cutter, but it was fully engineered in a couple of days.
The current system is a vast improvement, and once you have them unlocked, you can fully engineer a new ship in hours.
