Krait = Emperor's New Clothes?

The lights shining in your face thing really needs an "off" switch. I, too, find it really annoying.

It's like they saw that peoples faces in helmets are illuminated in movies - and didn't realise that it's so you can see the actor's face, it would actually really suck for your vision - imagine the reflections inside the helmet! Argh...

Z...

I picked one up to replace my AspX mining barge. More cargo and a better power distributor. Only problem I see is the visibility looking up to either side. Those horse blinders blocking the view could be a problem when in close to a spinning asteroid.

Take it into the combat farming instance of your choice.

Flies like a DBS despite being medium sized.
Has SLF.
Firepower of a Python.
Sounds like a Viper. (best part)

Very fun to fly in combat. Not recommended for multirole stuff.

Multicrew is my favourite thing about it. First ship I’ve made an effort to get a few players down for some SLF fun. Looking forward to trialing the multicrew in pvp at the CG this weekend.

YUP I have three pythons, none carry weapons so the krait won't be replacing them. A very fun ship to fly in all regards, a sweet mid sized fighter.

It's a brilliant mining ship. Engineer the distributor and it can constantly power 3 medium mining lasers. And a good number of module slots for collectors.

I thought that that said 'dinner switch'.
Sign me up for that!:D

Who is this overlord chump you speak of? He sounds a right plonker.
Do you have a moment to hear the Good New about our Overlord and Saviour, Zarek Null?

(Seriously though, I think people like this add so much in terms of bringing the game to life, letting themselves become the kind of content for other players that no dev in the world can program in. I just can't decide whether I want to serve him or find/start a resistance movement against him!)

Like Adaris, my Krait is about 401(555) m/s. But even in your case, that's a significant difference. You have to take into account that the Krait can boost more often than the Python. In practice, my Krait doesn't go below 520 m/s before it can boost again, so it averages around 535. Yours should average 505–510, though I don't know the boost deceleration formula.

By contrast I think your Python will average more like 430 m/s. That's something like the difference between being able to escape an engineered Cutter (2–>4 km) in 20 seconds vs 130 seconds. I think that counts as something the Krait can do that the Python can't.

Actually, in regards to the Python boost speed average, I didn't want to call on this without testing it first and since I wasn't in the Bubble I couldn't do that earlier, but now that I am - both the Python and the Krait lose about 20m/s from their boost speed before being able to boost again, at least mine do, with most of the time the speed holding at or neat the max and then falling off quickly. So no, the relative difference in speed between the two ships holds even for sustained boosting.

I did a bit of testing after the post but had to stop before I finished, but I was getting something similar. Apologies for not coming back to update that point: I hadn't found time to actually finish the test yet. I'm really not sure how the boost mechanics work, but once I'm next in-game and not busy with something else I'll have more of a play.

Just as always I felt regret when piloting my new ship. But after a while I just loved it. People compare it to the Python but flying it feels like my AspX but with heaps of teeth.
Love the wires, coffee machine, layout, cockpit, and above all; the handling.
Great fatty boom boom ship!

Great ' ship!

I think I've been spoiled by the Krait.

Over the last couple of weeks I've killed a lot of NPC ships with my Krait, including things like Elite Annies and Corvettes and they've all gone down without much of a fight.
3x C3 Beams can bring down almost any shield fairly easily and then I bring the MCs on line as well and it'll shred most hulls in short order.

Was using my last remaining FGS at a CNB last night and it just flat-out wasn't as effective as the Krait, to the point where, after an hour, I swapped back to the Krait and went back to the CNB just to check I wasn't "doing it wrong" or if something had changed.
Nope. Krait kills stuff. FGS doesn't.
Back to base. FGS stripped and sold.

Then I tried the same thing in my FdL with the same result.
Couldn't bring myself to sell the FdL but it's getting a major overhaul to try and get it back to where it should be.
To be fair, I engineered the FdL ages ago and I notice that a lot of it's modules are G2/G3 engineered rather than G5 engineered, like my Krait.

Objectively, though, my FdL has 1000-odd integrity and 1,300MJ of shield while my FGS had 1,400 integrity and 900MJ of shield whereas my Krait only has something like 750 integrity and 600MJ of shield - it was built as a genuine "multi-role" - and it just doesn't take the same damage as the FGS and FdL.

In the direct comparison, at a CNB, I noticed that my Krait kills small ships incredibly easily.
Things like DBS's and Vipers can be a nuisance if they're spamming missiles or PAs but my Krait can stay on their tail so I can kill 'em easily whereas I end up "jousting" with them in my FdL and, in particular, in my FGS.

Overall, the Krait's agility when chasing another ship or trying to stay out of the way of another ship seems to be it's trump card and that really seems to suit the way I play the game.
