Okay the word "overhaul" is a bit much but I get a bit tired of hearing that Q4 will be the game changer.
I hope it will be but I'm afraid a lot of people are going to be hugely disappointed when they keep selling the Q4 update as the mother of all updates.
There have been numerous times that the reply I got was to wait for Q4 and stand corrected.
We'll see....

Is that so unrealistic ? I mean what is proposed accounts to less than half the attention of what combat got...

I think people expect (rightly, wrongly, I have no idea) that Q4 will be the "exploration catchup" update, where three years of ED not touching it are backfilled.
IMO the ideas of Mengy's and many others have been available to FDev since launch pretty much.
Which is to say : they have no excuse for a lack of imagination, since as far as concepts goes, the exploration sub forum is a idea-buffet. Now did FDev go there ?
After all, a cynical person might say that the sub-forum was created to "quarantine" explorers and keep it low profile :x

OTOH, FDev can't scew up. Exploration is so barebone that they need to clear a bar that may as well sit underground...

I do think FDev can get ED out of the ditch, but it's a 50/50 at best IMO. Q4 does sound like a large change in design philosophy. Too large ?

I can only hope that Frontier read it, along with the countless other exploration ideas over the years, and gleamed some concepts and inspiration for what has now become the Q4 update. Lets hope we get more than just probes added to the exploration gameplay.

The last post in that thread was from Jan 15th of this year, threads are auto-locked after a period of inactivity, I think that's 6 months. It's to prevent a slew of necro'd threads.

Some great ideas, but probably a bit late in the day for development (unless they were also posted some time ago in which case I hope they were seen and considered)

Edit: Saw OP say they were. Jolly good.
