News Downtime Today from 9AM BST

Love patch days. couple of hours of 'ware iz patch notes?' followed by hours of 'these are not the bugs I was looking for, game is dead'. Only an hour until we hear the calming dulcet tones of Ed ;)

And ten minutes until the first reports of Cmdr Thrust (somewhere in the vicinity of Bradford) having completed said patch, obtaining High Score, three extra lives and having defeated .. the boss Thargoid!

Hmmmmmm .....what to do? Go to the range until noon and then see if OCULUS has the update ready for the long load when I get home,...Hmmmmmmm[yesnod]

I am asking myself if the devs established some kind of ritual to release the patch notes. Are they symbolically pushing a big red button and shout release the kraken?! Or have they no clue at all that we need our crac errrr I mean that we need the patchnotes so we can breathe again. :D

They shouldn't be long. I get the feeling they consult The Oracle before releasing the notes in case they have to pull the upgrade last minute. As soon as Dav The Oracle can be seen with a biro in his top pocket notes are go but before that he needs the top off the biro, to reach the server's factory reset? (allegedly)

I've noticed that a few days before an update we get the long dissertations about how terrible frontier is and how the update is going to blow chunks.

I suspect they accidentally hired some bearded genius and are since doomed to find out until the last minute how his stuff works. And why the Thing always cheats the wrong way round

Later generations recommended waving a dead chicken over the code, but I'm not sure if that works.

Last release it seemed more like the community team were having to format the patch notes for the forums and that was the reason they weren't out earlier - the markup for lists if quite tedious, so let's hope it's a small patch ;)

OK - Beds made. Lawn is cut. Washing up done. Vacum cleaning done. Desk tidied. Hotas dusted. Screens cleaned. Er... what do I do now?
