General / Off-Topic Leaving the forum - goodbye nice people

I tried not to be rude, although we disagreed. But taking time off from forums seems to be smart choice time after time. Have fun out there :)

Repped you! The froum is indeed a Little toxic! For each Topic, you can Count on 5 Fingers, which persons you have summoned with that specific Topic, that will troll your thread!!!!

There, that's the Internet for you, only enter with a thick skin. If someone was going against you in a manner that violates the forum rules you should def. notify the mods.

Indeed if it comes to this forum some of the stuff I read here makes me hum an old Smiths song...:

"It's so easy to love, it's so easy to hate - it takes strength to be gentle and kind..."

Fly safe, CMDR.

Are these people the equivalent of gankers and murder hobos in the game?

I say lets ban the use of the mouse in the forums.

I agree that the forum can be toxic.
But don't leave use cmdr...

Take a break from it...
Just look ad posts and you will see
That the negative reply's for 99%
Comes from the same cmdr's...

You'll be back [up]

+1 for the Aphex Twin comment ;)

I was about to do the same thing on several occasions, than I just went on a ignore user spree and now the forum is way, way better. Maybe this can be a solution for you too, I don't know.

Anyway, good luck and hope to see you around in the void :)

After a recent unfortunate incident (that I would rather not explain...but was a little weird) I have decided this forum is too toxic now to be constructive. There are a number of usual culprits who are hostile and unpleasant to other users. People seem to forget it's a game. There's no need to belittle and be rude when someone criticises it.

My parting thought is to thank those that have offered friendly advice and even those that have disagreed with me in a respectful manner. It is only because people care about the success of the game they complain at times - the easy option would be to just quit playing. We all want the same thing for this game, it would be good if dialogue could be more respectful when discussing how to achieve that.

Safe flying CMDRs.

Taking a break is absolutely a good thing now and then. And you're right, there's definitely an unpleasant undertone to parts of the forum at times. I wouldn't go so far as to call it toxic (it's not 4Chan after all) but there's something not quite right at times. When opinions and egos matter more than facts, things can turn sour.

However, there's also a huge number of people who give great advice and just love the game, warts and all.

I took a 6 month break from both Elite and the forums...lost myself in Trainz:A New Era. Did me the power of good.

Now, I just need to find some good UK Shunting Signals with Theatre boards... :)

You clould go to all the effort to report a post etc. Or you can be British about it and just leave :) People have limited recreational time, its very rare people in UK complain about a restaurant (notify mods) - they just do not use it again. Whilst there may be only one Elite Dangergous the game, there are plenty of discussion forums for its. Sure the same tired people that stopped playnig the game infest some of them, just move on is the best strategy.

i have to disagree with the OP, those that complain the most have a mindset to make multilpe posts a day about a recreational hobby they stopped years ago. I do not see anything positive in this for their own mental well being or others.

Still the salt is fun, nad I do like the occassional comment to spur them on!

It used to be the case that people would leave something without having to telegraph it to anyone who cares but sadly nowadays social media has fooled people into believing that their opinions matter.

"only because"? Nah, don't think so. There are plenty of those who want the game to burn all the way down ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efHCdKb5UWc&feature=youtu.be&t=54s ), have gotten a refund already or stopped playing but linger on the forum and pretending they didn't bring any toxicity of their own, and would rather have other games like NMS('superior'? giv'me-abreak)/SC marginalize the leader of the spacesim competition, ED, and trying to ludicrously equate Frontier's fair business with the level of scummy past shenanigans of both of those. They'll never be satisfied until there is no more free pinata of ED development to whack and potshot on and defender voices who are there to set the record and facts straight. Other than this correction, have a good break away from the forum.

Sorry wesmacdon, but you can sometimes be toxic yourself. Blaming it on the others and constantly calling them white knights and fanboys probably doesn't help.

That said, I think that most of your criticism and the debates with you have been rather reasonable.

Sorry to see you go OP, it's society that's turned toxic and migrated into gaming so imagine how FD must feel hearing such drama every day but hopefully you've met some nice souls on here.

I think that Frontier also knows what's going on in other forums on other sites
