Community Event / Creation ***Attention Explorers*** GNOSIS Jumps planned THROUGH a permit Lock !

Dull question, possibly, but how is the jump going ahead if the destination is now permit locked? And can I teach my FSD to ignore permit locks like that please? :)

Almost wish I wasn't about 20kly away now, I'd be going with you!

Not sure if official lore or not, but Galnet wording suggests that the Pilot's Federation controls the firmware of all modern ships and that the permit system is a software lock on the navigation system. Technically all our FSDs are capable of jumping in to any system within range (I recall a character in Drew's last book jumped in to a permit locked system using a really old ship without the modern navigation systems).

If this is so then the Gnosis, having a larger than average FSD and possibly custom navigation software, is able to bypass these restrictions.

Well, for better or for worse, for permit or for poorer, the Moody Blue and I are here for whatever happens. Of course, we had to stop for the obligatory selfie with the Gnosis.

Maybe. Thargoids, after capturing or analyzing the remains of enough of our ships, can surely figure out our hyperspace/supercruise technology and develop counters of their own.

In response to this development, the Pilots Federation has sealed off the Cone Sector FN-J B9-0 system, which is believed to contain high concentrations of Hydra Interceptors.

Fake News! They just sealed it to prevent Glutony from preforming some mass Xenocide [big grin]

Jokes aside, I hope some of the A.X.I. folks will join in to support us with some serious firepower and experience.
Also I hope there is a bit more to find than just pewpewing Thargs, well we will see I guess ^^

Well I came back from Colonia for the chance to explore the locked area and maybe even discover something unusual. But if it's now a case of being restricted to one system doing boring thargoid template USSes for four weeks than I might not bother.

Nobody (except FD) knows. Maybe they just want to make us work for our permits. In any case, getting back outside the sector should be no problem, as long as the usual game mechanics (self destruct and penal ships) will still work.

On another note: since I'm still on my way, I'll be making a detour through the California Sector, stocking up on AX weapons. Nearest AX outfitter to OUTOTZ is just under 1.2 klys away.

For a moment, after reading both Cmdr Delmonte's post, and then the Pilot Federation's warning, I wished I'd brought my AXaconda, "Daisy Cutter" to the Gnosis (though that would have taken a hellacious number of jumps from the bubble, because heavy AX builds *really* lack for legs!) ...then I remembered that my AX record vs even puny Cyclops is 1 for 12, so it's probably better that I'm flying a ship that ensures I choose discretion over valor when confronted with anything other than scout NHSS's, let alone something like a Hydra!

And here I am betting not two days ago that there wouldn't be any Cone Sector special content. Although I suppose if it's just "here be new Thargoids, who also be in the Pleiades and elsewhere" then that might not be too far off.

I'm not really into alien pewpew either, and I'm certainly not loaded out for it. But now that we know Cone is some kind of Thargoid hotbed, surely we can at least hope for some kind of interesting surface sites to explore. I hope?

You mean "sneaky ninjad them..." ;)
Nah, I hope some of them will join, would be a great joint venture :D

Yap, also thought to switch to my Cutter or FGS but like you I wouldnt stand a chance against anything > Cyclops.
Will get one of the new Guardian Fighters though while general AX Modules for my Krait are allready stored at the Gnosis (maybe there are some Scouts to deal with or something [noob])

In response to this development, the Pilots Federation has sealed off the Cone Sector FN-J B9-0 system, which is believed to contain high concentrations of Hydra Interceptors. Despite this, it is understood that the Gnosis, flagship of the Canonn Interstellar Research Group, will attempt to complete its scheduled jump into the now permit-locked system

Er, my Krait is unarmed.

Frack it, I'm still going along for the ride! :D

Since it's confirmed that the permit locked it's a planned matter and not a glitch i think this will be
probably the greatest mmo moment since the launch of the game.

Prepare for the unexpected but bring your best armed ship.

Interesting development. My take is that FD has assessed the risk of CMDRs with high enough jump ranges or cheats to be high enough to lock down the sector. Boring non-rp scenario, I know.

We all know whats going to happen, your going to jump into that system and be chased by more pvpers than thargoids and be pewed back to the bubble with no way of getting back....so then knoing this most people are going to go into solo or private and be met with whatever is there with not much to go on but hopes and dreams.......PS i said the logo looked like cone like a year ago and everyone didnt see it, Theres a mothership there i know it and its a klaxian staging point from NGC 2286 on the Orisians who now reside around the loop.

May i add your now going to also get people up in arms over only the people who get on the Gnosis will get in there issue so i hope the permit drops when and if the cookie crumbles or this will just feed the catering for one group argument (Im not agreeing with it i just see the hate soon to be flowing)

New Thargoid news or no new Thargoid news, I'm still going in completely unarmed. Let them come if they want to, the pointy sods. Nobody's stopped the King of Rome yet.

(Well, not completely unarmed - I have a mining laser, as per the Macedonica rule.)
