Generation Ship Demeter

This needs clarification:

The User/CMDR bigcee75 found the Generation Ship Demeter in the Mizuchi system. He reported it here at [29/08/2018, 2:42 PM]. As far as i can see it is not listed on Canonn, but there is an entry on the wiki. The CMDR credited there is CMDR Chris Varley and the edit is from [07:14, August 29, 2018]‎ by Clockpuncher. (Timezones?)

The System is 95.68 ly away from Sol and the Ship is close to Planet 2.

The Logs:
Entry 1
Entry 2
Entry 3
Entry 4

Canonn have visited it, it's just not on the website yet. There's been a lot of frantic activity since 3.2 dropped. :D

What? Where is this confirmed?

From Galnet

"In response to this development, the Pilots Federation has sealed off the Cone Sector FN-J B9-0 system, which is believed to contain high concentrations of Hydra Interceptors. Despite this, it is understood that the Gnosis, flagship of the Canonn Interstellar Research Group, will attempt to complete its scheduled jump into the now permit-locked system"

The Pilots' Federation seals off the Cone Sector FN-J B9-0 system and an Unknown Permit lock appears in all Pilots Federation ships' Galaxy maps.
Thus the permit lock, with the Unknown Permit, is how the Pilots' Federation sealed off the system.

But that doesn't confirm they issue it (i.e that there is any way in game to actually get the permit). I thought it was known for quite a while now that it's the Pilot's Federation who controls access to systems (via some handwavium iirc)

Those two CMDR's are one and the same, don't know why wiki used my name, maybe from Youtube vid.

Apperently there is also some unknown org. that can seal systems / sectors...

A.... concern... just entered my head.

Has anyone seen Hydras since the first report?

I'm having flashbacks to when we could see Threat 7 NHSS, but they contained nothing... and then lo later on we get Threat 7 NHSS with Medusas. I know others have said this, but I really hope we're not just jumping somewhere which is just going to have a bunch of Hydra spawns as a "reveal" because the original Hydra encounter was a mistake...

There was a GalNET news thing about pilots encountering a new Thargoid ship, so FDev either planned for it or took it into account

Since the Galnet mention of a concentration of Hydra class interceptors being detected in the system The Gnosis is jumping to, there has been an assumption by some on the forums that we might be arriving at or near the Thargoid homeworld or other outpost and that we might be attacked. The choice of words of Will Flanagan in another thread: 'Watch the Skies' has been possibly attributed to being a hint to some involvement with the AIs mentioned in the logs of the GCS Sarasvati, so this might imply that there is something else to be found there. I'm wondering if the concentration of Hydra interceptors could be because the Thargoids are fighting a third party: these are their best fighters (that we know of, and they certainly have other weaker assets) and they could be hard put to it by this third party. If they are fighting the Thunderchild or Unit 1 AIs, which were intended to fight the Thargoids, then we might find we have allies in our conflict with the Thargoids. If the Thargoids are fighting someone else, then we may have a shared foe with the Thargoids, depending on what the intentions of that third party are.
.
I guess I just want to say that an open mind is vital. We don't really know what is going in Cone Sector and it might not be easy to find out. We don't really know what the motivation for the Thargoid conflict is - they've been around for millions of years so why are they only pushing into the Pleiades and the Bubble now (in the last couple of centuries, anyway)? When the Guardians died out, why didn't they move into their territory which they had previously fought over? I've no idea how to answer any of this but maybe there are some Thargoid outposts we can investigate that will provide us with some answers. I wonder if I should pop back to the Pleiades to pick up some Thargoid Sensors/Probes/Links...

Two FD-sponsored books (Premonition and Out of the Darkness) both say there are two factions of Thargoids that are fighting a civil war, one faction (the Oresrians, that humaniy has had a few “minor skirmishes” with in the past) is losing that war and intending to lead the other (more aggressive Klaxians) through human space so we are forced to join in the fight to protect the bubble. It may be that these Hydra vessels are from the Klaxians and this will be the first contact with that faction. Either way it looks like Gnosis may get a warm reception, but could be stuck in an alien warzone there for at least a week before she could jump out.

I don’t believe it is coincidence that FD gives the playerbase access to stronger weaponry and move AEGIS back to Sol just as the Gnosis is about to jump into the permit-locked Cone Sector and a new, more dangerous, Thargoid vessel is revealed.

I’m just wondering if my fleet will be safe at SD while I go off on the DW2 expedition, or whether I should move them all to Colonia before it departs.

Is Hydra instantly hostile, no matter of pilot's behaviuor?

Nobody knows, I think. The only report I've seen of the Hydra appearing is this one: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/444124-Nee-Thargoid-Type

In that scenario, it starts off with scouts, which are instantly hostile... and any interceptor jumping in later in that instance will be instantly hostile.

I don't think anyone has dropped in on a Hydra in the same way we encounter Cyclops, Basilisk and Medusa in isolation yet.

I hope we find out in the Cone Sector.

Bring Meta Alloys. :)

"Off my way, no else. Period."

Anyone have a recent close-up picture of other interceptors "gel cocoon"?
Hydra's looks slightly different.
