News Important Community Update

Hey Frontier,

Thanks for beeing open and honest about your decisions, very much appreciated.
I'd rather have you post-poning content than trying to sell us a horrible quickfix release, or have to sacrifice the content programmed for Q4 to the next larger engine upgrade.

You (yes, you all at Frontier) delivered excellent work till now and I am confident that you will do so in the future.
Definetely not planning to run away just because you were honest with us, rather the opposite is true - staying because you communicated properly so that we can adjust our expectations.

Your sincerely,

There goes the neighbourhood! Well no offence but the only reason the game has done so well is it amazing community. Now for the last year you have ignored, mislead and let down us all. We all know it was the dinos! Just a shame you refuse to listen to us even though we have stuck by ED. I think you may have started the slow death of the ED community and therefore the game. Shame on you!

You know what, I'm gonna' say it. These wearable tech lore articles point to only one thing: Legs.

Yes, it is quite obvious at this point.

I wonder does it mean primitive atmospherics might be folded into core game and not be seen as paid for updates.

I hope next few weeks will make it all clear.

I was really hoping for fleet carriers and the ice planet update, but it's really good to hear this type of transparency. Thanks for keeping us in the know, and work hard! o7

I don't know if i have an LEP, all i see in my account dashboard, is that i have a beta premium. how do i know if i have an LEP ?

Under "MY DOWNLOADABLE PRODUCTS" I have "Elite Dangerous: Lifetime Expansion Pass". I purchased the post-release LEP's (as opposed to a pre-release one)

At first I was disappointed, but this might actually be a good thing. I hope it means a deep-level cleaning of the game code and a more "end game" approach to design vs. just bolting pieces onto the game every couple of months. If we have to wait a year or two to get a finished game that's way better than it would be using the current "update every quarter" model, then I can live with this decision.

Having said that, this big new future update better be the Hail Mary of updates!

Oh absolutely. I'd rather better stuff delivered later on, for sure.

Ok so these bits stood out to me (I shall add my own emphasis)

Is there any real reason you can't say what that is concidering it is now in Full production?

So ... no new preimium content for a long time, maybe a year or more?

Using words like "a considerable time" doesn't bode well.

It's still early in development. We'd love to give more details but it's always best to wait until it has had more time to grow and take shape before making big announcements. As you can see from this post, it's always better to wait for the content to be as ready as it can be before sharing the details, just in case it changes.

As for "considerable time". It's worded that way specifically to avoid people thinking and expecting it to come immediately after the Chapter Four update. Content takes a while to develop but also try not to read too much into dates and such. We will share more news once we're able to.

Correct me if I’m mistaken but I was under the impression the Beyond season would be mainly core improvements and bug fixing...and yet none of this has been mentioned at all?

Well darn it...still waiting to see if they in Q4 cos if they ain’t, then what was last October all about?

Or have those been re prioritised too?

Look closer: the guys on the left are on Elite, those on the right on Jurassic World.

Is the picture recent tho? And are they only game testing here instead of showing the full dev team? I think it would be rather risky to claim over 100 Devs and only have like, 5 especially if there is photo proof of it.

Okay, it's as easy as taking a picture of the team to show how hard they're working. It proves us wrong to distrust you.

Zac, you've successfully managed to both confuse and alienate by effectively being unable to clarify anything whilst simultaneously saying quite a lot about nothing at all.

It's just confusing. Folks have wanted some clarity for a while and yet I now understand less than I did before I read this thread.

It would help just a tad by being a little more specific and a little less reliant on the "trust us" trope because that's kinda asking a lot.

Thanks for the update. I think? I feel like someone has just taken my cat away from me (despite not actually having one) and it's all a bit confusing.

Frontier is persisting with exploration changes but at least one planet type is off the table, the anchor for squadrons (carriers) are now MIA and why even mention beyond beyond when there's nothing at all to share.

Something something paid content nebulous maybe future. Also you are safe with us.

It's not instilling confidence, Zac. Quite the opposite.
