News Important Community Update

I can't tell if I'm in the minority, but I'm very happy I found Elite. I've never enjoyed a game so much. I've been an avid gamer since the Pong/ Space Invaders/Asteroids era. Over the years, I've usually kept up with the latest console and PC games (buying them for my children - yeah right). Now I play Elite in VR and see no reason to play other games.

Thank you to the developers - but I'm robbing you blind if you calculate the dollars/hour cost for me to play.

I'm thrilled that you are continuing to develop the game. I'm excited to see what's next, but will be busy making money, fighting my wing's enemies, and exploring the galaxy until then.

No, you're not in the minority. Iv seen & played the games from the industry from it's conception, birth & growth from the 70's to now. I'v got 51wks 5 days on my gameclock in ED, yeah I don't allows like what FD release, but I sure have had value for money.

Hi Zac, thanks for taking the time to engage.

Well done. Very specific, well thought out language too. Loved the paragraph starting "Naturally...", with the method and model line.

Made me chuckle, maybe even feel a little joy.

Tell no one.

There will still be squadrons as a feature. It just won't include Fleet Carriers in this update. Hope that helps.

Hey Zac, how about giving us LEPers some nice Indescent paintjobs as part of our goody bag? Afterall they appear to be the "good news" item today, so why not let us have them while available?

I'm not going to read all 39 some odd pages of this thread as I'm well sure I know what I'll find. I don't think you can ask for a more well written and honest update.

You could start trying then. 'Course if you're talking about proofreading quality, can't argue that.

Thanks for the communication Zac. Re-provisioning priorities is natural and understandable.

Good luck to the team and all the best of luck for the future.

for me the biggest problems at the moment are the bugs on console with game crash on planets with more than 2 srvs and in space when a multicrew member is starting with a fighter. can we hope for fixing that that this year? :S

Not sure, I have quite good experience for last two years, never had issues with more than 20 ships in instance.

It is not a diss on NMS - people enjoy it, that's major point. It is however different game from ED. As you can see, it has totally different challenges and much higher stakes than 'Minecraft in space'.

I don't give a toss if you diss NMS or not but when you disparage its connectivity while praising Elite then I have to say something, You might not have issues but I've seen innumerable threads from people on this very forum who have issues with connectivity.

I lost a 2yo xbox gamesave due to the game being literally unplayable due to transaction errors. I lost my ship twice on route to Sag A due to transaction errors happening at the exact moment I was in the cone of a jimmy neutron which crushed my ship.

I asked frontier to transfer my assets to a pc account because I couldn't get to play on my prefered platform and as you might be aware they only transfer cash so I lost two years worth of progress with factions/engineers and everything else in between.

Call me a cynic, and the OP was an intreasting read but I'll belive half of what I read when I see it.

"Exciting headline features" wasnt that said about other things that were a bit still born.

Anyway nice to see theres life in the old girl yet.

It's a game, I enjoy playing it and I'll keep playing it so long as it gets updated for and I suspect a fair bit beyond. I bought it for what it was when I bought it not for what might come, I had enough faith in FD to buy the lifetime pass when Horizons came out, I'll either get something for it or not, it was money I was willing to spend on the game at the time I spent it. I've certainly had very cheap entertainment from it if you care to work it out per hour. I don't see the point in getting wound up over these things, then again it might just be the way text reads and people aren't getting wound up... I don't know, to each their own and for me it's to say thanks to FD for continuing to work on Elite, long may it continue. Looking forward to Q4 updates :) o7

Ok,

I'm heading home now but I'll check in over the weekend periodically. I'll be heading out to Fantasticon tomorrow so if you're there, feel free to pop over and say hi.

Thanks again to everyone who has been passionate enough to jump onto the thread and discuss, regardless of opinion. We're looking forward to showing you the rest of the Chapter Four update soon.

Many thanks,

"The Elite Dangerous development team is larger than it has been at any point in the last 6 years. It is thanks to your continued support, dedication, feedback and engagement that has made this possible."

This statement should not be overlooked. The game is far from "dead" or "in maintenance mode," as some keep suggesting.

It matters little if people's pet feature is delayed or pet issue is not fixed. Salt flows anyway :)

Anyhow, Zac is away and I want actually play ED tonight. Have fun people.
