BREAKING NEWS: GNOSIS STRANDED, GALNET NEWS!

Oh stop. Just stop right now.

The Gnosis was supposed to be behind the lock for four weeks, so I'd imagine some people (me for example) thought FDev may lift the lock on some of those systems during that time. Perhaps folowing a discovery during the first week. You know, maybe as part of some actual planned gameplay arc.

If you don't personally care about it that's fine, you set your own expectations but don't be making out people were nuts to think that something other than Jaques mis-jump part II might happen. Jesus, have you seen the amount of discussion and interest this has attracted on the forum over the last few weeks?

For my group and I the idea of a long endurance mission in hostile space was thrilling. It'll be disappointing to see all that preparation and creativity let down.

Damn, how do I get the gif to work? Its just perfect :/

I've got your back Commander:

and yeah you're right, it is :D

Incompetent.

There is no other way to put it. I don't like being so negative, but it's unavoidable in this situation. FD blew it. They ruined the surprise. Had we not known until tomorrow it would not have been an issue. But no, they blew it.

I only see one way for them correct their mistake: Retract the galnet article and let Gnosis jump into the locked sector.
I see no other way for them to salvage this situation.

I doubt it though. So what should the punishment be?
If it plays out as leaked, do we all boycott the game and not play for a weekend? Let them panic when they see epic low player count? (doubt we can do that since we're all addicted to the game)
Should we all send in support tickets to emphasize just how disgusted we are about this?

Maybe there is another way out for FD... they could issue us all a sincere apology and give us free premium paint jobs... or better yet, a Cobra4 for their screw up.

There should NOT have been a galnet article prepared for this. It should have been 2 days before galnet had an article about the failed jump. Why is this so hard?

I have to admit, I'm just stunned by this. I can't believe a developer could screw something up this badly. The abysmal gameplay is bad enough; the complete lack of respect to the user-base is even worse. But the sheer incompetence of blowing the reveal hours ahead of the event? That's incompetence beyond the level of human understanding.

If you've come to fight Hydras, then I can't see what difference it makes what system we end up in. If you came to explore, then we already knew that was not going to happen when the cone was locked. I'm not sure what else people could have been expecting.

When I signed on it was a nice 4 week trip to a harmless nebula that was going to be nice and relaxing to potter about in and about
I was expecting it to be a nice 4 week trip to a harmless nebula that was going to be nice and relaxing to potter about in and about with HNSS with Hydrae occasionally popping up.

I remember the last time something was revealed early. During the Salome event, those satellites appeared (confirming what we basically already knew) like an hour in advance of Salome and her friends flying to the bubble.

Good job FDev, if this is real youve just dissapointed A LOT of your most devoted players, yet again.
And ofc your shareholders will also be happy about how many people will not think twice, or outright refuse to buy any of your overpriced kits or recycled paintjobs.

Can't wait for all the weekly meme's and all the angry posts from people who called in sick at the office tomorrow to play Elite Dangerous : Disappointment.

Do they want people to stop playing their game?

I think so? Frees up great talent for the exciting new games they are working on. It's been 4 years and Elite probably has 3-4 more at least to get into some semblance of order. Maybe they just don't see it as more than a game.

I don't think the reaction would have been any more positive even without the "early warning."
