BREAKING NEWS: GNOSIS STRANDED, GALNET NEWS!

At this time it's still wait and see.

And I don't want to defend Frontier here if it plays out how it looks like it will because from a "it's a game" point of view this isn't great at all.

But if this were happening in real life (as it were), no doubt the Gnosis would have been hyperdicted and brought down on the perimeter of the Thargoid bubble.

Heh, well this is quite impressive in it's own way.

All they had to do was... nothing.
Let the jump go ahead, the Cone sector turns out to be like everywhere else in the galaxy and nobody can say they're disappointed.

But, noooo.
They decide to willfully, actively sabotage their own game?
And announce the fact that it's "happened" six hours beforehand?

That's a special kind of stupid.

The amount of people buying into these past few weeks has been outstanding btw. Please continue.

So, Fdev should just allow the jump and have you dangle about in a single system for four weeks with nothing in it and no way out?

Yes. Part of player agency is allowing us to screw ourselves over.

Unfortunately, everything and everyone is protected by 65k ly of rolled homogenous plot armor.

Billed by whom? Where did this hype come from?

Hysterical forum goers with ludicrous dreams unadulterated by, and immune to, historical reality.

Thargoids won't arrive until the server tick. So in an hour you'll either jump to the Cone Sector or you'll be set upon by Thargoids.

That's very civilised of them. I suppose they are all at the pub having a drink. Likely that's where the community team will want to go later today as well.

That satellite near Gnosis made me to reconsider the meaning of life and stuff.
Bought pop-corns and a seat in front row.

The quote from early this year "We don't want to waste your time..." has aged like a fine wine.

Oh my... That.. I need a fine meal to go with that!

You know what utterly blows my mind

FDev has tens of thousands of people literally throwing money at them SCREAMING give US MORE. We will buy it. We WANT it. WE WANT YOU TO SUCCEED.

And this is how they treat their fans. With delays. Bad excuses and recycled content and yet the community with some grumbling says

OK, Another chance!

This jump was talked about far and wide. People that haven't played in months were genuinely curious just what people would find.

If I were you guys. I wouldn't spend another DIME until they smarten up. But that's just me!

That was a scenario we anticipated, and a sacrifice we were all willing to make. If we were to be stuck for a month, so be it. But what has happened here is totally different. It's a wave of a hand solution to stop us, and they did it with a horrible narrative, and they wasted everyone's time.

At least if we were to get stuck, sure that would have been wasted time, but it would have been fair and we could wear our t-shirts that would say "we broke the permit barrier." "We were in Cone." etc

It's so stupid that they stopped the attack to scoop Meta-Alloys, I mean... ALL OF THEM?? Really??? Are Thargoids so stupid? That's a big lack of imagination....

You really think that would have been the reaction if there is/was no Thargoid bases?

We have already had the "But they had loads of time time to prepare and knew this was coming up" posts in this thread. I think the pitchforks are just out at the moment whatever happens.

I personally expect repair and kill Thargoid mechanics, until Chapter 4 drops.

Just think this will go into official lore.

"And it transpired that the all powerful Thargoids can be prevented from attacking by dropping a tasty morsel in front of them where they get distracted and forget what they're doing"

Like something out of the Hitchhiker's Guide.

Who needs INRA. :|

Forty minutes to go. My twin is still aboard The Gnosis. Here's hoping for a good tale spun after the tick.

Obviously there must be something to discover in that system, but more likely in a system(s) nearby.
I think it's possible that this is poor implementationdue to two main possibilities:1) Content turned out last minute to not be ready (buggy, unfinished or linked to other mechanism recently abandoned)2) The content is there, waiting in-game, but FDev wanted to build hype and expectation even more, attempting to incite the players to be more eager to know - unfortunately, this was not (as quite often) handled well, and anticipation and understand the layerbase was grossly misread (as quite often)Im personally leaning towards #2There were many who vocalised their lack of real interest or expectation, although 1000 ships(stat from where?) docked on Gnosis and some this morning still on their way - so there was a significant interest, but not so much excitement.FDev desperately want to be able to excite players and give them something they clamour for, but strangely, despite so many clear indications, fail to understand or deliver
