Wait post patch, then we can do the arguing.

86MB patch incoming, it might be mostly skins, but you never know.

Let's see what's in there, THEN you can start blaming the community and doing the arguing.

Just got it after restarting Steam.

I deem this video relevant to the thread topic:

at some point it would be interesting that a real rmanager (david braben himself?) communicates honnestly on what happen because there is a smell of tsunami in approach ....
this will change the usual salads.

You'll be grateful even if it turns out to be fecal matter. After all everything in Beyond is 'free'

Unbelievable... absolutely unbelievable.

Gnosis on fire spectacularly - this is going to be great!

Well, I'm in.

Outotz ST-I D6-9

Return To Surface is not an option, but Launch is. Emergency Evacuation, Essential Personnel Only is flashing on the Starport Services screen.

It says limited services available, and the holo is messed up and flickering about, but the services (fuel, repair, etc.) seem to be intact, including Outfitting.

I think I'll log out and head to sleep, now, and see what develops later in the day.

Good luck, commanders.

People are just bored when they're doing same CG's gameplay since 3 years you know and I think this will be next...

I know. But expecting suddenly something extremely new to jump out with 'hidden' gameplay just for event is...daft.

I wouldn't expect anything less than burning station scenario. And I would welcome that. Because it worked for me.

Woke up to the news and have to say, for the first time in a long time, I was unusually excited about this event, and it's the first I participated in myself.

I'm genuinely disappointed in FDev for pulling this, and particularly the shambolic way it was done. In hindsight, I do feel a bit stupid for buying into all of this, I have to admit. Dropped what I did before, spent some time deciding which ship to bring and with what loadout (which was fun). Then spent over an hour to get to the Gnosis, waited patiently until today (less fun). Was pretty giddy looking forward to what will happen. Well, this squib couldn't be any damper.

I've read numerous posts that called it, but I really hoped this time things would be a bit more imaginative, and approached it with a positive (naive?) attitude. Lesson truly learned.

I'll still play the game, and will enjoy doing so within the limitations of it, but with two consequences:

1) Any 'story' content like this will be observed via YouTube and the forum from now on, like I used to do before

2) I'll definitely reign in my spending on the frontier store now (well over 200 notes dropped so far)

When I log in later, I'll bail and get back to the bubble. Not staying for another grindy CG.

I'm really impressed. This community can take a lot of . Don't get me wrong, I was on the same side but ... I figure out how static elite is and that frontier don't work on this game anymore, sadly and true. (Please don't tell me I'm wrong, the "content" for this year could be done by 1 good developer and 1 designe guy).

Really sad, because everybody would spend money again, if there would comming something which give more dynamic play. Instead they just ask for but don't do it ... Damn it could be so nice.

But seriously, we all know very well why regions are locked.

Actually, we don't really.

When the game dropped, a bunch of regions were locked, areas like Regor as the closest, Bovomit as (one of) the furthest. But Col 70, Cone Sector, nd all the other ones around Barnard's Loop were free for people to come and go as they please. Regor was the obvious candidate in that regard for "future content". Even when Unknown Artefacts (Thargoid Sensors) were spawning in and around the Pleiades (an indication FD had already chosen to have that area as a "Thargoid Area") those regions.

Fair enough... but then they permit-locked those ones around the Barnard's Loop region. That doesn't really make much sense at all. "Here's these regions we've set aside for future content.... we're now working on future content... but instead of using those regions, let's lock off a bunch more which were previously accessible, and not do anything with those previously set-aside regions."

Huh? That really smacks of Q-store logic... "I'm here to sign out a first aid kit"... "There's none available"... "I can see five back there though".... "They're the five we need to keep in case someone needs to sign one out"... "Well... I need to sign one out!"... "You can't have those ones, because then we wouldn't have the five we need in case someone needs to sign them out".... "Errrrrrrrrrrrr....".

HIP 22460 is a classic... there was nothing there, people could go there. Now we know there's a Thargoid Structure there, *and* there's a Federal base of some description, but nope, can't go there. And we've gone through a major version number change and still no access. It's pretty incomprehensible.

Cone Sector looks more and more like an oversight now, but if they really didn't want the Gnosis going there, they should've actually RP'ed it as "PF has locked it off, and now Gnosis can't gain a target lock" and still have it get attacked next weekly tick. Would've had a much better and more positive effect to go "Oh, well, I guess that's canned, let's move then and OH DAMN! It got attacked!" rather than gee up a bunch of people with diverse gameplay desires of "Could be exploration, could be combat, could be new stuff, could be anything", and even have FD say "The jump to Cone Region still going ahead as scheduled despite the permit locks"... that just set waaay too many expectations.

But eh... I'm not actually here to complain about FD... I'm actually completely unsurprised by this and not too fussed... but quoting myself

- If the Gnosis is just going to "bounce" off the permit locks and just end up somewhere else will be pretty anticlimactic and will probably irritate a lot of people, when the previous possibility existed... especially now there's Thargoids announced to be in that sector.
- Maybe Gnosis is going to jump there, get mashed up by the Hydras, and the PF decides "well damn, now we need to unseal those areas to render assistance to a large amount of PF pilots", and it happens to tie into a plot stage FD had ready to go, but the Gnosis is just a convenient excuse now

... we just have a mix of those two things. Colour me nonplussed.

Updating the client now... so still waiting to see what comes out if anything besides new NHSS.

I wouldn't expect anything less than burning station scenario. And I would welcome that. Because it worked for me.

We have dozens of burning stations that will burn for an eternity and you reckon what we need is another burning station.

We will get another burning station. Canonn must be overjoyed at how their entire existence is now as a burning set piece for Frontier to recycle the same thing people have mostly disengaged from.

Bravo.

if it would be burning station inside the permit locked area, no way to get out other than repairing it...that would be something at least. but like this? super lame
