Ofc you find it interesting, By taking that position you canavoid criticising Frontier for dropping the ball with the early announcement on Galnet and the fairly predictable gameplay that will come from this shocking event.

To think I nearly took the day off for this as well!!!

Lucky you. I did take a day off. I expected a nice day of exploring the cone sector, and i wake up and find I've been railroaded into what seems to be a CG or yet another round of pew pew. Well I aint taking part, the Gnosis should be left to burn by the community as a protest.

Beyond angry at FD right now. I bet i'm not the only one who set aside RL time to get involved in something out of the norm for once - only to find out its the same old scripted stuff when i log in. I'll never learn!

Either way it starts to show cracks in the Narrative and emergent gameplay that cant easily be patched over
Not sure what you mean by this, particularly the use of the word "start". The narrative is, and has been always full of gaping chasms - at no point has there been any (noticable / publicised attempt) nor reason to "patch over" these anomalies since the game continues and people continue to play. FDev have never been held to account for accuracy, consistency or characetr/events due to motivation and experiences, so why would you expect them to start now....Getting shot of Brooke and Wagar most certaily helped their creative writing team, but different writers coming to a project often squeeze existing vchracters into the writer's defined roles, rather than writing around previously defined concepts, so we'll see a lot more of ths completely out-of-character activity

Well I’m in the Gnosis, station needs repair, game crashes when looking at station services, and I can’t even return to surface to get off this heap. Would have been cool to explore the cone sector like promised. But no, FDEV is being FDEV again. And now my ship is stuck in the station. Get outta here with this FDEV. I’m out, see y’all in another game.

Even if they'd set it up so the Gnosis got attacked, say, a fortnight ago and then created a modest list of materials required to repair it and created a Galnet article saying how the ships trip to the Cone Sector was in doubt after an attack left the ship under repair and in danger of missing an astronomical window-of-opportunity then it would've created a positive scenario which would, most likely, have resulted in players rallying to the cause.

It's disappointing the way that, whenever something happens in this game, it's always possible to come up with a better thing instead with a couple of minutes of thought. [sad]

Isn't that what's most likely going to happen anyway? Some people act like the whole jump is cancelled. Pretty sure we'll see a community goal to make the jump happen very soon, which is admittedly very predictable and just recycles the games shallow mechanics... But it's not like we could realistically expect something else from Frontier. I don't really get the disappointment over this.

Bravo Zulu, FDev.

I've been playing for years. Got excited about this that I decided to join the forum to coordinate with other players in exploring the Cone Sector.

And then this. I'm done.

I undocked and jumped to another system - it didn't look on fire or anything'

Next system over I found a "non-human signal source threat 8" - scooped up thargoid sensors

So, on the downside we have Frontier dropping the ball badly and going about it in the most crack-handed way possible. Poor show, Frontier, very poor show.

On the other hand it’s given all the doom-merchants, naysayers, Frontier-haters, and people-who-don’t-like-the-game-and-don’t-want-anyone-else-to-either a ‘Christmas has come early’ moment. So it’s not all bad :)

Way to go Frontier. You bottled it on the opportunity to create ENGAGING content.

Or is it simply that the flight plan caught you with your pants down and slamming in a further permit lock was all you could do to save face?

Just keep hammering those nails in the coffin...
Frontier, your story writers are doing a terrible job

Story writers?????? ?????

I suspect the removal of "return to surface" is to prevent people hogging pads and making them unuseable.

You can still launch tho can't you?

Wait, you're not a mod anymore? Did you see this coming or something?

Not been a mod since end of last year ;)

And nope, didn't see it coming. Like many others i assumed the jump would happen as planned (well, we know what assume does to you and me :D).

My theories:

1) Content in the cone sector isn't ready, this is a delaying tactic.
2) Whoever is in charge of the story thinks this is a good addition to the story.

Now we need to see what is happening (unless we know and i haven't caught up on the news yet).

Lol,

it took a team of 100+ to come up with a Galnet story??

Why couldn’t they just have miss-jumped the Gnosis, spawned Hydra’s and let the players work out what to do.

This is pants level of orange Y-Fronts with beige piping!

I am having mad nostalgia trip over Jaques station. Frontier made that as formulaic as the recipe for a boiled egg. Also nothing anyone did then made any difference. It never moved again.

If people think this will be any different. Well. Not sure what to say, really.
