BREAKING NEWS: GNOSIS STRANDED, GALNET NEWS!

Isn't that what's most likely going to happen anyway? Some people act like the whole jump is cancelled. Pretty sure we'll see a community goal to make the jump happen very soon, which is admittedly very predictable and just recycles the games shallow mechanics... But it's not like we could realistically expect something else from Frontier. I don't really get the disappointment over this.

Look. The ship is far away. If they ask for 4.5M tons of X, 7.8M tons of Y and so on... it'll never gets done because :

1) It's not interesting gameplay.
2) A lot of people are fed up.
3) We've been doing that for a while now.

I appreciate the fact that you are trying to put a positive spin on this, but it's lipstick on a pig.

At the very least a type of small combat CG given the bazzilions of AX armed ships on board would have made more sense.
Something like actually defending something for once, instead of just... more of the same.

And really, a thargoid CZ with the gnosis in the middle would have been enough. Low requirements so that the CG is wrapped up in a day or two.

At it's core it lazy and sloppy. And that's the problem : months of lazy and sloppy railroading/illusionism storytelling.

Agree completely. Honestly, call me naive, but I can't believe all this negativity. We actually don't know anything until you can get in and properly see what's going on. So the story got leaked early. Does that really make any difference. Can't get in to play until the update is complete anyway. What is actually going to happen once you do...don't know. Speculation rife, I understand but you have to condemn the crap out of FD without even really knowing what's actually planned.

Chillax guys.

I'll just wait until that server status changes from 'scheduled maintenance', go in and find out what's going on.

OK, you all might be right and its a total screw up but wait until you actually KNOW something before bagging the crap out of people.

Sheesh!

Happy to eat humble pie but....sheesh!

SOS. We're being attacked. STOP. Please send for help. STOP. I can't get off the Gnosis without being blown to smithereens. STOP.

LOL. Finally having a Blast. STOP.

I am having mad nostalgia trip over Jaques station. Frontier made that as formulaic as the recipe for a boiled egg. Also nothing anyone did then made any difference. It never moved again.

If people think this will be any different. Well. Not sure what to say, really.

Jaques failed jump was the prerequisite to create Colonia, which IIRC was pretty much based on player feedback. I don't know if the UA that made the jump fail was put there by a player, but if it was that's a pretty good example how we as players actually do shape the galaxy. Anyway, the whole event created something that never existed before in ED. Some people where unhappy about the way colonisation was handled but it would be unfair to say that everything was just more of the same. The whole thing had a pretty big impact on the game and the lore.
Personally I think it it's very unlikely that the Gnosis jump will just result in another Colonia, especially since we are not asking for it this time.

Server is up now. Maintenance is over.

Total waste of time and effort. Guess I will make my way back to the bubble, although to be honest, I may give the game a break for a while. This has really irritated me.
I hear ya.
Think I'll just leave my char on the gnosis, uninstall elite until q4, wait for DW2 and prey they don't kill that event too.

And how do you know they will ask for 4.5M tons of X? Maybe they'll just ask for a few tons that the people who jumped with it can gather in a few days. How about we wait and see how it turns out before we concentrate on being as negative as possible?

How do you like your pie? With custard or cream?

Total waste of time and effort. Ship jumped one-star system. Says it is damaged, but a fly around showed no signs of any damage whatsoever, nothing, nada, nix.

All that happened was the player base caught a whiff of something interesting happening, and of course, they were wrong, because FD doesn't do interesting game play.

Such disappointment.

Whelp, Xbox version of the game is down and I cant get back in, even though there isnt anything I could do. And I hear the PS version of the game is also down.

From my PC friends, the lady on board is asking for meta alloys to fix the ship, as kind of a mini CG but, guess what, the commodity market is closed so they can't sell the stock piled meta alloys, that we just spent all of last night getting in preperation for this bullhockey. So the player base who even spent hours in advance to prepare for your monkey wrench, STILL can't use the materials to fix the Gnosis.

I want to thank Fdev for taking what was to be an exciting community event that we desperately needed to offset the disappointment of losing carriers and ice planets and giving us a broken, anti-climatic kick in the berries. Thank you so very much Fdev.

A question for Zac: So this is the best of the efforts of 100+ of Britain's professional game makers? Seriously?

You should be ashamed of yourselves. Absolutely ashamed.

You guys need to take a hard look in the mirror and ask yourselves if you still want to be in this business. If so, then shape the hell up, if not, then get out of the business and stop dragging us along.

Honestly, I'm not even angry just amazingly disappointed.

I know we like to make fun of Chris Roberts and Star Citizen over here, but honestly, this place, this game, this dev team has lost alot of the moral high ground.

What's old saying "He who lives in glass houses shouldn't throw bricks." something like that.

An absolute spetacle of a failure. Just absolutely spectacular. I really don't know how else to describe it, how else to feel right now. I will say I am truly truly amazed by how much had to go wrong at once for this to happen. I'm truly impressed by that bit.

So because i can't play the game, fix the ship or go on the expedition that I was supposed to go on, I'm going to bed.

G'night.

I'm going to actually pray for you Fdev.

FDev, really, the Thargoids were lured away by meta-alloys? That's the cheesiest thing ever, and I think you've misread what we have aboard the Gnosis.

We don't have meta-alloys. We have Gauss, and lots of it. We have maybe 300 combat pilots in AXI, and most pilots mount quad Gauss. We have over 1,000 Gauss cannons on board the Gnosis. No matter how many hearts an interceptor has or how fast they regenerate health, I don't think the Thargoids have a single ship that can survive volley fire from a thousand Gauss.

Well my first launch ended on the rebuy screen. There ARE a lot of Hydras outside. Bring on all the Gauss cannons 😎

Edit: funny reading all posts from cmds who obviously did not launch 🙄🙄

Finally got in. No crashes yet, but a possible bug: the icon for repairing stations isn't appearing on the galaxy map anymore. And yes, I do have the box for it checked.

Enjoying the thread :)

I'm not sure what people were expecting. We may yet make it to the cone sector after the repair CG...

Let's remember how this happened.
Cannon planned the trip to the cone sector.
FDev permit locked the system in 3.2 release
Community speculation goes wild, unstoppable hype train departs for Gnosis
I can't say I've seen FDev fanning the hype flames myself

This can still be a fun event - lets just remember what game mechanics we have currently and not expect new ones delivered in the minor content update.

Although galnet reporting does seem face palm meme worthy, as usual...

I was walking in to the office, thinking "I bet nothing happened" and then I logged on, and somehow I'm still disappointed.

Oh well; back to the bubble I guess. I can't help or fight, so I either go exploring or go home. I doubt the G will be repaired and back to jumping any time soon.
