How do you like your pie? With custard or cream?

Total waste of time and effort. Ship jumped one-star system. Says it is damaged, but a fly around showed no signs of any damage whatsoever, nothing, nada, nix.

All that happened was the player base caught a whiff of something interesting happening, and of course, they were wrong, because FD doesn't do interesting game play.

Such disappointment.

So how do you know that the Gnosis storyline is over and will not continue?

Enjoying the thread :)

I'm not sure what people were expecting. We may yet make it to the cone sector after the repair CG...

Let's remember how this happened.
Cannon planned the trip to the cone sector.
FDev permit locked the system in 3.2 release
Community speculation goes wild, unstoppable hype train departs for Gnosis
I can't say I've seen FDev fanning the hype flames myself

This can still be a fun event - lets just remember what game mechanics we have currently and not expect new ones delivered in the minor content update.

Except a Dev said on livestream that there were 3 systems to explore.

And how do you know they will ask for 4.5M tons of X? Maybe they'll just ask for a few tons that the people who jumped with it can gather in a few days. How about we wait and see how it turns out before we concentrate on being as negative as possible?

And maybe the sky people will come and say kofeyh, here is a half billion worth of gold and the Angel's will sing and then I'll wake up and notice maybe none of that is remotely realistic.

But it's okay. Because if I just believe enough, it'll happen. Or not. And I'll pretend it didnt matter any way because I'll accept anything the sky people tell me because the alternative isnt a comfortable thing to realise.

Dunno, m8. Think frontier probably should have just left people to do their thing, rather than force the issue. Ah well.

Agree completely. Honestly, call me naive, but I can't believe all this negativity. We actually don't know anything until you can get in and properly see what's going on. So the story got leaked early. Does that really make any difference. Can't get in to play until the update is complete anyway. What is actually going to happen once you do...don't know. Speculation rife, I understand but you have to condemn the crap out of FD without even really knowing what's actually planned.

Chillax guys.

I'll just wait until that server status changes from 'scheduled maintenance', go in and find out what's going on.

OK, you all might be right and its a total screw up but wait until you actually KNOW something before bagging the crap out of people.

Sheesh!

Happy to eat humble pie but....sheesh!

No.

Personally, I'm not upset, I wasn't going anyway, but the fact is they saw how this event was being built up and if it wasn't going ot meet the obviously high expectatoins, they should have said something. Instead they let thousands of players spend credits materials and time to outfit a ship for a major game event, and it turned out to be...another CG. I think the salt is warranted, EITHER for the lack of communication and poor management of our expectations, OR just crap game content. I'll reserve judgment which criticism is fairer for a later date.

Let;s hope it turns out to be supercool in the end, but so far, it's not what people expected.

If this is all true then I hope Frontier have the decency to do a live stream and apologise to their player base.
Give us a clear reason for their decision and then we can move on...but if they just stick their heads in the sand then...well i won’t be angry, but I will be very disappointed

The only thing that would make it right would be for the entirety of the devs working on FD - that Brave Hundred* - to use dev magic to appear at the Gnosis in Open, where the many, many angry and heavily-armed pilots can give some useful feedback on this latest fiasco.

Your unwavering optimism and positivity is remarquable.

Even then. Asking people to do 1.6K lyr legs trade run ? Is that fun ? Engaging ?

lol.

All I'm saying is :

If you (FDev) can't deliver something interesting, just say no. Or say yes but do no recycle what's been used 100 times before.

Although galnet reporting does seem face palm meme worthy, as usual...

I think people were expecting to get into the Cone Sector.

Sat in Founders - Galnet has no mention of anything to be fair

lol though all these people moaning previous about predictable game - FDev come up with a wrinkle and everyone loses their minds

Anyhow it's quiet outside so assuming gankers R us are all aboard the gnosis - this may lure some out of solo for a while :)

Hmm...

Another one for my "Is it a bug or a feature?" list....

I fired up the game, went to the outfitting screen, it's getting "thargoid interference", the cursor vanished and I can't select any modules or even select the "back" option.

So I selected "quit to desktop" instead.

If the Gnosis ever finds itself near LHS 20, feel free to just shove that big ol' Bumblebee Annie out of an airlock.
Thanks. [up]

There have been some amazing comments here and I can state catagoricaly the Canonn council DID NOT EXPECT A 12ly SCREW UP.

FD have grown big. They are not listening properly. They do not understand the craving for meaningful engaging content that we all have.

Many people, officers of different groups, and players put in a lot of time and effort due to the sheer audacity of the proposal we made and that it was accepted. It was something different.

Canonn council is sorry for your disappointment just as much as we ourselves are disappointed by the impotent narrative we are force fed now.

I for one, can think of no other way to make FD listen and put more effort in,than to consider a boycott of the store and future expansions. I have supported frontier and all its products bought hundreds of pounds of items but I can no longer do so, I am a customer and I do not feel I am getting my money’s worth narratively speaking. So my wallet is now closed until they sort it out. No more skins etc.

I am not calling on people to follow me in a boycott but if you do, you are not alone. I love elite and frontier but we are the guys who paid for this multimillion pound company.

Respect us.

Respect the Gnosis.

Can't believe that the story is about a station making a jump to unknown space and it doesn't make it to it's destination. I've never heard this story line in Elite Dangerous before... I was hoping to do some exploration in a new area. And now we have to wait and be patient for a new storyline to develop? I mean, this is kind of getting old. Just be patient, it's all going to come together. WTH Frontier?

Whelp, Xbox version of the game is down and I cant get back in, even though there isnt anything I could do. And I hear the PS version of the game is also down.

From my PC friends, the lady on board is asking for meta alloys to fix the ship, as kind of a mini CG but, guess what, the commodity market is closed so they can't sell the stock piled meta alloys, that we just spent all of last night getting in preperation for this bullhockey. So the player base who even spent hours in advance to prepare for your monkey wrench, STILL can't use the materials to fix the Gnosis.

I want to thank Fdev for taking what was to be an exciting community event that we desperately needed to offset the disappointment of losing carriers and ice planets and giving us a broken, anti-climatic kick in the berries. Thank you so very much Fdev.

A question for Zac: So this is the best of the efforts of 100+ of Britain's professional game makers? Seriously?

You should be ashamed of yourselves. Absolutely ashamed.

You guys need to take a hard look in the mirror and ask yourselves if you still want to be in this business. If so, then shape the hell up, if not, then get out of the business and stop dragging us along.

Honestly, I'm not even angry just amazingly disappointed.

I know we like to make fun of Chris Roberts and Star Citizen over here, but honestly, this place, this game, this dev team has lost alot of the moral high ground.

What's old saying "He who lives in glass houses shouldn't throw bricks." something like that.

An absolute spetacle of a failure. Just absolutely spectacular. I really don't know how else to describe it, how else to feel right now. I will say I am truly truly amazed by how much had to go wrong at once for this to happen. I'm truly impressed by that bit.

So because i can't play the game, fix the ship or go on the expedition that I was supposed to go on, I'm going to bed.

G'night.

I'm going to actually pray for you Fdev.

I've sold some stuff on the commodities market. Working for me.
Searsh and rescue panel also work.

Yeah, well I'm in game now.

Stuck in hangar. No controls work...none! Only head look.

Weird music and some messages about frameshift anomalies and radiation?

Now nothing. I see red targets outside go past but can't select them as my controls are inaccessible.

Now "Energy surge detected" and my systems all go offline
