News Implementation of a dedicated mission server

It's good to see something I can applaud to for a change.

I never got this board flipping thing.
Running missions was my main source of income and I've never logged out/in to get what I needed.
Just get yourself a nice amount of allied factions and the payouts are very lucrative.

I hope Q4 will bring lots more of these improvements, enough to get me back in the game.

Since board flipping will be a thing of the past can we do any of the following:

* Double or triple the number of available missions to compensate for the loss in a fair way
* Replace the Wing cargo missions with missions that are reasonable for solo players

Also, can you share with us the percentage of players that takes Wing Cargo Missions? For me those are just clutter :(

EDIT: Thanks for sharing with us your plans for the near future :) [up]

Agreed. We are only arguing this to attempt to get players their missions they choose to do as quickly as possible. It’s not about the money and the 10% increase in money is an insult. If you are cutting missions that are different per game mode then you need to give us more missions per 15 minute refresh. Otherwise you risk many players playing with themselves at a station for hours just to find the missions need to do anything. Money, BGS or really any objective. Please don’t implement this with one board havinng the same amount of missions per refresh. You really are making it so much more of a grind and it only kills off the people in the community that can’t play all day. Which I add isn’t me so you are also cutting my competition in any BGS operation that I take part of. People want to see that they are making a difference even if they have an hour to play a day. I want everyone to have a chance to challenge me with in that BGS.

what I am getting from this is the developer is actively killing missions to make the grind longer, excruciatingly so because they want people to quit.. when that happens they can justify stopping development due to lack of interest so they can shuffle what little resources are already in this game into newer, more profitable things to keep the shareholders happy.

why else would they announce a nerf right after a major PR f-up?

Barring a total rework of mission payouts, a 10% increase is not even close to helpful. Try 50% and we might have a deal.

But right now, players are about to catch the shaft hard. Get your 10 minute timers ready. Board flipping just got a whole lot -more- boring.

there will be a removal/significant reduction of the method of refreshing mission boards by logging in and out of the game ("board flipping").

Hey,

Do you reckon you could also increase the number of missions generated? One of the reason for board flipping is that right now if I go around collecting missions, I'll end up with 20 missions leading to 20 different destinations (except for the billions of massacre missions). It would be great if there was a way to more easily gather a large number of missions to a limited (say, 3–4) number of destination stations. Same for cargo delivery missions.

I actually enjoy going to a new system and just doing non-combat missions in a small fast ship to earn rep with a few factions for no reason. But right now if I just go and pick up every data delivery mission, I'll have so many different destinations without board-flipping that it'll take me two hours or more to complete them all. I wish there were more options to choose from so that I could only focus on a handful of destinations.

I hope it's a reasonable idea, and that some people would agree with me. Thanks for reading!

R.I.P. Boardflipping good

but no good more grind yea

so i see me at station with the fdl and only wing mine missions there well see well see

Would it be possible to add the SOURCE system and station, as well as the destination system and station to the missions? The last update allows boom time deliveries to be split across multiple trips, but when there are several missions stacked, it can be tricky to remember where the remaining cargo originates (I typically look through the log files in the player journal if I forget).

Last time big changes were made to the Missions system, FD left out all of the "Founder or Elite" missions that are supposed to appear at Jameson Memorial for Elite players and those of us who paid for early access to them - the Founding Members of the Elite.

That was nearly 3 years ago now, and they still haven't been added back - nor will anyone at FD answer whether they will be.
(I've raised bugs, asked 4/5 devs in the livestreams and have had 2 community managers simply respond with "nothing to discuss".)

Nearly 1200 of us pledged an extra £50 to this level, and all we've got to show for it is the golden decal and two rushed-in-at-the-last-minute missions - a combat one & a cargo run that are just standard templates but pay a little more.

Gone are the original missions that hinted at a narrative, and what happened to the extra content that MB promised would be coming back in Jan 2015. It's really not good enough considering there was £68K raised by this tier alone and we've just been forgotten.

@Will - could you find out if anything is happening with these in 3.3? And if not, will someone at FD return to the backers forum and perhaps tell us what the situation is with this pledge moving forward. I'm sure that I'm not the only backer that would appreciate an answer to this issue please.

This is total bull.

You realy think they're trying to throw ED overboard? Just wow.
Yes Fdev is doing a lot of things, erm, not good imho but this conspiracy stuff is total bullsh*t.

This.
More missions, but filters for type/destination/range etc.

More missions to offer on the board so we dont have to do mode switch.
And how long time will it take for the board to refresh with new missions?
Will offerd missions be station specific or system specific? If i se a mission board in a station that have no mission for me and i go to another station in the system, will that mission board be different or the same?

This is all very well but it does not add to the game.

Something that would add to the game is a greater variety of missions.

For example, escort missions (solo players could escort NPC cargo ships, as in X4); security patrol missions; proper Fed Navy missions (I may be an 'Admiral' but that currently means jack), etc.

Why do we have to always be an assassin, a mindless shooter (as in CG) or an Amazon (TM) delivery man?

I don't know why, but I just feel that this 'improvement' is actually about FD's bottom line rather than about the players who contribute to that bottom line.

As for the 10% increase...10% of very little is still very little.

Judging by what's been happening lately, can you really blame him?

Yes I can.
Fdev has screwed a lot of things up lately, and not so lately, but thinking that they're intentionally trying to get rid of the players in order to throw out ED is utter nonsense imho.
