The 15 second logout timer in action

It did cross my mind but since I did almost everything now available in the game, and also got my Cutter, the last ship in the game I haven't tried yet, I feel less attached to my in-game assets:)

I'm still scratching my head how this was so easy. He was in an FdL which I assume was engineered up to the hilt so should've easily caught up with my Vette.

The other factor that helped was that he was on his own, and his weapons seemed quite ordinary (all MC's from what I remember). Most of my PvP encounters were quite a shocking experience as the other (organised) player(s) would use the various experimental effects available to disable/wipe out key modules and then you're just a sitting duck.

Yeah I’m not really sure how an FdL wouldn’t be able to deal out significant damage at those speeds but hey take the victory.
Even if he did maintain firepower an adequate PvE vette could withstand it until wake

No it was not and yes you were being a wuss, but that doesn't necessarily mean he wasn't useless as well.
:D

Heh, I agree, just went over my post again and it wasn't maybe as coherent as I'd like it to be:)

As for him being useless, that's what I was trying to figure out - that bounty on him was pretty big but yeah no idea if that's a good indicator for skill.

Anyways I might take more risks in the future, and instead of running away engage, as long as it's a fair fight (i.e. 1v1). If just to test my own skills and the build of my ships. Need to grind a fair few more credits though, that Cutter purchase almost ruined me and I'm not sure yet whether I should bother keeping it. The grind to max it seems almost worse than the rank one.

Maybe they should program NCPs to log when they are faced with a players indestructible vette farming the Rez, see if they still have a problem with it

They did something similar in an update 2 years ago. NPCs were reprogrammed to head beyond your weapon range to recharge their shields, then they'd scoot right back in and continue to attack you. The crying was epic. The change was reversed shortly thereafter (a programming error we were told...).

Yeah, that's actually not a bad idea to enable the NPC's to menu log on players, then all of these advocates of the practice might have a frame of reference. And Touch of Grey, yeah, totally remember that; if they implemented that practice again of NPC's behaving similar to a human player by running off to recharge shields these people would have a frickin' melt down.

I remember it, NPCs got gud and then they lobotomised them very quickly

Was your ship a Vette or Cutter?

Ftr, flying reverski is shameful and very boring to fight against.
Some people will just bail out if you do that.

You're in a large ship so it's technically in your favor already.

Get in a decent medium ship, engineer it to the gills and arm yourself with a stack of rebuys.
Have some fun with it, you'll become a better pilot almost immediately.

The lobotomy, indeed all of the nerfs to NPC combat, stem from exactly the same crowd who even now advocates so vociferously the use of clogging and menu logging.

Glory times, where small ship swarms had one of them distract you
while the rest came in for killing.
I enjoyed that added level of risk,
reinforced me in training the skill of engagement preparation.

And hypershields with skill-replacement potions.

If Frontier wants players to be able avoid facing these kind of NPCs, they should create some hot spots in the galaxy, where the NPCs are tough as nails and you get greatly rewarded for killing them. Anarchies where pilots need to fight every day to survive would be good candidates for this.

Plus, you can get really good paying missions to go in there and kill some big shot.

If people don't like NPCs of that caliber, avoid anarchies.

I was in my Vette. My Cutter is brand new and nowhere near combat ready.

Point taken on reverski, and I was already aware of it being frowned upon, but then I didn't actually want to fight back, so figured it's as fair an evasive maneuver as any.

I used to have a fairly large fleet but culled that down to 10 recently, with a view to properly engineer those who I still keep (incidentally they're all the ships I bought kits/paintjobs for!).

Today I was hanging around in LHS 3447/Eravate in my Rail-winder to annoy seal clubbers, unfortunately none of them around (at least not in my instances). Fighting in the Sidey (and even more so in my now fully engineered Vulture) is so much fun as it's so very satisfying to stay behind or on top of a bigger ship, and as you say the much cheaper rebuys allow for more risky gameplay.

Edit: get your point of being in a big ship but during my first ever ganking experience (wing of 3) I was in my Vette, and everything was taken out very quickly (shields, FSD, thrusters, weapons). Combination of me flying away in a straight line, in a poorly outfitted ship so learned that lesson early on. But that fear of losing 30+ million when the bank balance is 'only' <100m is too much still. Once that credit balance rises again that'll be a different story of course.

I would like to see that expanded on somewhat more than just anarchies, but yes, totally agree in spirit: certain regions of space should have increased risk/reward enabled to draw both profiteers and thrill seekers alike to do business if they're up for the increased challenge.

Again anarchies as hotspots?
Why?
Anarchies mostly are poor systems with near zero infrastructure.
People there are armed hopeless people robbing to survive or
live out their violent sides, with the few idealists of course who just
want the experience of ultimate freedom, aka no rules.

Why do you think the best would be there?
It is more suitable to put super elite NPCs into the powerplay central hubs,
as elite guards, or into key story based systems, where they can find work that pays.
Additionally the skilled criminal pilots will too hunt in systems where there is money to be made,
like stealing from a high sec convoy or raid a diamond mining operation guarded by corporate security.

Stated in my post :)

Which works as well. Doesn't have to be "or". It can be "and". :)

I can live with the odd hunt for a crime lord,
like the PB hunt to kill that elite anaconda,
hiding in Morgor!

However that should not be the rule of thumb,
the best hideouts are not in anarchy space.
Smart ruffians use other ruffians (cops) to
deterr assault teams of their enemies, by
playing their cards right.

If you want to actually learn, I suggest you get an FAS, FGS, FDL or Chieftain.

Lots of people will help you with a build, just don't listen to the PVErs.
Don't cut corners.
Make a true combat ship and take the arrow out of the equation.
Then take all comers, that's the only way to test yourself.

I know a guy from Jiu-Jitsu that is absolutely fearless, even when going up against world champions etc.
When speaking of an opponent to the coach one day, he said,

"He puts his pants on just like me."

It has to be one of the highly requested things that systems are actually on a par with their status, government, etc I’m a little surprised it hasn’t been implemented during this free ‘season’

Absolutely agree. It seems like a pretty common sense "fix" that would jet propel much of the PvE portion of this game into the present day. The current way of implementing the civilized bubble and various security systems just shrieks "placeholder." Too bad, really. So much wasted potential.
