Who's looking forward to Beyond Chapter 4?

I was looking forward to retirement, found it was a let down i just got old n wrinkly. Dont look forward to things anymore. I'll see when it happens. Then see if 2 weeks later if the vocal minority get it nerfed back into the stoneage again.

Seems likes quite a few of you are looking forward to it, and for several others it will determine if they keep playing or not.

No matter what, I think new content is always something to look forward to. So yes I'm looking forward to the new update. Having said that I have concerns. From what I have seen so far the focus has been on new mechanics and not new things to do or discover. Exploration for example, so far the new mechanics look cool and I have no doubt they'll make exploring more interesting... at first. What I wonder though is how interesting an engaging players will find those new mechanics the hundredth time they've done them. The Guardian sites were interesting until, for me, about the 5th or 6th time I had to repeat them after that it became a chore. What exploration needs is things to find outside of the bubble, hopefully that's what we get.

Of the group that were invited to F. Dev. I know DJ, Bognogus and Malic. For me looking at this group says more about the current state of the game than anything about the future. DJ and Bognogus will rave about Elite Dangerous but what is more telling to me about them is the fact that a year ago if you randomly checked out their stream you'd see them playing Elite Dangerous. Now, if you randomly check in to their streams you are unlikely to see any Elite Dangerous game play. You'll see things like stellaris, No Man's Sky or War Frame. This isn't a shot at these guys you can still think any product is good and still use an alternative. However, it should be concerning to F. Dev. when some of your most enthusiastic boosters drastically reduce the amount of ED game play they feature.

In the end I hope FD knocks it out of the park with the Q4 udate and replicates what the 'Next' update did for NMS. It'd be nice to see my in game friends lists go from being mostly a memorial site of ex-players to a list of active player I can wing up with.

Well written.

Not played for about 4 months, and getting that itch to climb into my trusty ICourier but I'm gonna wait until .3 drops, exploration is only fun if there's something out there to actually find. If it turns out to be [redacted] then I'm out.

I get the impression 2019 is gonna be pretty dry for Elite Dangerous - tho' the coming era for the Elite franchise is looking exciting, so there's that...

I've lightly read the threads on "coming soon" things every time an update is coming up but to be honest, I just play. And when something new is introduced, to me, it's a pleasant surprise. Sometimes it's something that really interests me and sometimes it's something that doesn't affect my play in the least.

BUT: I still like opening packages on Christmas morning and I'm 67, so there's that kind of attitude. Getting a package four times each year for me is fun.

One thing I am hopeful for, as others have noticed, is for either legs/EVA activities or atmospheric landings (either planets, gas giants or both) and I don't really care which come first. I'm just hoping either one or both come through before I die of old age. :p

I refuse to fall for the hype (kudos to OA for keeping his head while all around him were losing theirs), but I will keep an open mind. FDEv have done some good work, but they also have a history of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. We'll see what the final work ends up looking like.

I am always looking forward to advancements in the game. What has been revealed about Exploration has me thinking I'll finally put some effort into that role. Actually having something to do out there really perks up my interest.

I have more than a passing interest in the improvements to mining. Mining is something I enjoy when I can't pursue my combat interests. Adding to the current mechanics may have me doing it more often. And, not just when my bio-systems are under performing.

I have no beef with FD, or E|D. I would rate my excitement level as 'Keen Interest'. Bring on the Beta.

Looking forward to mining and the codex and i strongly hope that they get the codex right. Not waiting for squadrons because i can predict it will be another place holder (hope i m wrong), and not waiting about exploration changes, allthough i am mainly an explorer, because i dont expect that their "exciting" things to discover, will be indeed exciting.

So right now I feel the same way.

While I am looking forward to 3.3, how long will the new content keep me occupied?

And if the new big DLC isn't due out to late 2019 or early 2020, I'm sure I'll probably take a break from ED once Chapter 4 runs its course.

Not that there is anything bad about that - there's just a lot of great games to play ;-)

I am especially looking forward to the exploration update. Jump'n'Honk is just too simple. There'll be a more clear distinction between explorers and travellers then I hope.

Looking forward to it, no.

Hoping it may breathe some life into the decaying corpse of ED, yes. But really, this is all academic until Ch4 arrives.

If its good, great; if not, then X4 beckons.

No, not looking forward to the new solar system grind minigame to get the same information as we can get right now with 1 button.

The rest will just be more of nothing. When Fdev announced this year would be free it was obvious elite had been put on hold for a year.

It'll be a massive disappointment but unfortunately there are no good alternative games out there... yet.

I'm cautiously optimistic. If there's more crap added to the ongoing guardian grind series, it will be disappointing. That whole debacle has pretty thoroughly taken the wind out of my sails. Mining changes look good though. Will definitely give that a shot.
