I don't even think the CIG marketing department would rate their product so high so early.

Fanboyism baffles me sometimes.

If honestly enjoying something is called Fanboyism so be it. I don't care. I have fun in Arena Commander and many others do too even though it seems so impossible to many of you :).

No, that's just a lack of taste. What is meant by Fanboyism is things like blindly defending the company even when arguing for something to the determent of the game.

cool! looking forward to it.

If you got any questions you want to ask put [Question] before the question you want to ask when their question bot gets online. The chat gets notified that questions are being accepted. Try to ask as early as possible because sometime there are more than 200 questions asked and the earlier you ask yours the earlier they will try to answer it.

Pedro is such an inspiring guy. Some notes in one of his Star Citizen soundtrack are after his babies name. He is very humble and nice. Thought that CR had Hans Zimmer on the kickstarter launch and didn't even contact him until he found out there were no composers for SC. :D

I love this piece from him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKZecxcXTzw&index=22&list=UUrfoUPC0UzFwbKOSASXw5uw

I love how you often misinterpret words and then play your victim card.
It's almost cute :)

I can't wait to see what out-of-10 rank you'll give AC once it's finished.
If you run out of zeros to put at the end, I can lend you some.

True, often a fanboy is recognised by calling others fanboyz.
This negativity squad is not representative for 500.000 SC backers.
Ofcource these fans want to compare it to trash it. I expect that here on this forum the gathering of elite minded and those people ofcourse prefere Elite game concept. So it more obvious more pro ED and much more anti SC here.
On SC forums it mirrored. The other way around.
Also it a largly a crowed funded game. As such a tight community bonding is needed. And that is costly. Updates every day. It cost a week or two to prepare a milistone branch off build.

Also while they say the production is very open well it not. Not for all the modules. So progress is not all that we see a lot is still hidden.

I have no need to be critical about SC as there is whole squad spamming negativity.

I just wait the reviews of the reased thing. Which is to far into the future so I focus more on ED. Much closer in the near future
As for any kind of competing it must at least be releast in the same season.

Fanboysim exists even within game communities where there is no 'other' game.

Fanboysim is blindly defending the company when you should not. Fanboysim is personally attacking critics and those who are rightly calling out the company, for example when they have lied.

For these reasons in world where magic wands existed fanboys should never allowed to be part of the backer experience. However in the real world the community culture can at least discourage fanboyism, as happens in the FD community, and unlike the SC community where it is fueled by personality marketing and empowered by supportive forum moderation making it the perfect habitat for the common or garden fanboys to grow and multiply like weeds.

As such all suggestions the FD & SC community are equal and opposite are absurd.

The fact that threads like this can exist on the SC forum while they would be immediately moderated out on the FD forum is clear evidence of this point.

In line with this definition a SC fanboy would somehow deny the self evident point I have just made because it does of course cast CIG and their community in a bad light.

Well I try to have an opinion about everything that my time is involved in.
This is a topic about SC and I believe I have every reason to be critical about it.
It doesn't mean I hate the game, it just means that I don't agree with other opinions and I state it. Especially with some of the opinions from regular posters on this topic. It's just my different opinion.

I'm hoping the FPS presentation is impressive, if not, I'm probably done with the project for the time being.

It's far to early to judge either game yet. We know ED is missing loads of content still and SC is much further behind on development.

One thing though. Chris Robert's games are always over budget and late, so any dates they set are almost guaranteed to be missed. Don't expect it to be as organized and rigorously tested as ED.

This would only be true if you expect there is a reasonable chance of CIG changing fundamental design decisions like the decision to go freelancer controls in spite of numerous reassurance during kickstarter they would not. And even then, the only prospect of them changing this decision and other points that might concern you is by being vocal about it now.

And in case you or anyone else is wondering, yes, I am active on the travesty known as the RSI forum, and moreover I'm confident this thread is monitored and therefore influential given a credible critical narrative can exit and develop without it being trolled out of existence as routinely happens on the epicenter of cognitive dissonance that is their own forum.

Even on the flight model, I'd at least wait until they finish mucking about with implementing 6dof, and adjusting the targeting and IFCS as a whole.

Perhaps it won't change dramatically, but it's not unreasonable to wait and see right now.

I'm hopeful for the new feature described in Gamescom where you'll be able to use turbo boost for your maneuvering thrusters. It might have an arcadeish feeling like a japanese mecha game where your ship evades quickly towards a side, but it'll at least make gameplay much more tactical which is what I want in a space combat game.

If they do manage to make the ship behaviors feel more solid all around together with 6DOF, then it'll be great.

Jenner

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
Let's give the 'fanboy' stuff a rest, guys. Too often it's used as a simple bludgeon to whack someone over the head with, much like 'griefer' and 'carebear.'

It sounds like FPS dodging but I wouldn't mind that if, like you said, it makes it more tactical.

Here is some good poll data to rest your case on. I voted for 4 out of 5 here and that represents %32 of the pollers. About 320 people.

By the way guys on Thursday we will be hosting Pedro Macedo Camacho the composer of Star Citizen on Starcast. Pedro said he will play some live music that was never released before. I will be asking a few music related questions that I gathered from my composer friends.

If you want to drop by here is a link to the stream: http://www.twitch.tv/geekdomo/

It starts at 11pm GMT +2.

I don't know if you can ask this but why isn't there any metal music? All I've heard so far on SC soundtrack is techno/symphonic, don't get me wrong I do enjoy orquestral compositions, but I've never seen a space cowboys (on movies lol) cruising while listening to that. Any chance to add another style of music? (whispers of voices: metal...metal..metal).

PS: I'm already doing my part for elite's music PM if you're interested to listen :D

One thing to add to the tablet since you guys brought the ratings on AC. They say how can you rate a game that's not finished? how are you going to give it a bad review if it's not done?. Here is were I agree with the philosophy of ACG (a youtube game reviewer). "If a game ask you for money then it should be review in their actual state and not on what they are promising. You want my money now? let me see what you have now".

I find this to be true and people should not be acceptable of terrible alphas, that only leads to lazy development. This is the reason why steam is plagued with early access games that don't make improvements if any.

How I understood it it gives you "extra grip" so you can actually fly tighter turns instead of just pointing your nose in a diferent direction but continue to slam in to a wall.

Will be interesting indeed, this could be CIGs take on "energy fighting".
I´m not a big fan of the fuel based afterburner thats implemented right now however, atm it simply means everyone keeps boosting around madly and if fuel runs out they respawn.

I will do. If I can't (will be on a train journey) I'll have a few people who could ask the questions for me.

Also in other news CIG is expanding it's UK office and it is now the biggest of all CIG offices. The reason is this:

Video Games Tax Relief

Video Games Tax Relief (VGTR) is available from 1 April 2014.

Your company will be entitled to claim VGTR as long as:

  • the video game is British
  • the video game is intended for supply
  • at least 25% of core expenditure is incurred on goods or services that are provided from within in the European Economic Area (EEA)
