PvP In defense of murder (in game)

I do enjoy a good murder spree from time to time. It atualy makes it feel even better when they send you some bleeting message about how bad and nasty you are. I do try not to do it in a ship thats invincable tho, i mean killing harmless cmdrs at a CG with a viper or eagle is even more fun as it gives the ilusion they might stand a chance lol

I live my life in ed in the full knowledge that this can happen and play in an acording manner so im realy just educating the uninitiated on how things go down in the black.
Or so the little dude on my sholder tells me after whispering "kill them, they are week" into my ear.

I'm pretty sure you feel they should say thanks to you for that, as the best teacher of ED. This is sad.
I have story to explain my point of view: I watched a new player on Twitch. He was completely greenhorn, I gave to him tips for missions, how they works, etc. He managed to buy a shiny new Hauler, because he wanted do delivery missions. On her first flight a griefer interdicted him and without any warning killed him. Poor guy was disappointed, at the rebuy screen he had only option for a Freewinder. I understood why he was frustrated. After training this game kick you out, and good luck. He hadn't any luck.
I had few interdict too by other CMDRs, and in new ship without good shield back from Farseer I had no chance to escape. I didn't care the rebuy cost, but I didn't understand what was his point to kill me. I just hoped his member was hard. I think this game would need a dedicated PvP section, it maybe would help to reduce pointless kills.

Megaturnip
Man sod cutters. Lol
It's takes 45 minutes to kill them in an fdl and I'm bored, let alone a viper!
Florenus,
When elite dangerous becomes the real world you'll be right. Until then, I'm afraid you're wrong.

Alyssa,
Robigo is not a starter system. In fact it's a money grinding system so you're unlikely to not have the rebuy.
It also wasn't a streamsnipe.
Also it wasn't even against the "law" of Robigo (anarchy).
Much sanctimony on this thread

Also allow such "negative' actions as "murder" is part of why elite is so brilliant and alive

Oh come on Alyssa. Much like life, it is pointless to try to control how others live, or play in this sense.

Pointless killing, however much that may annoy some people, is both easily preventable, and moreover, is a part of the game. It's not against any terms of service to shoot at/destroy other players ships, essentially meaning that the dev's really don't care about people's online sensibilities.

Just play the game and let others play thiers. As soon as you start adding rules and restrictions into a sandbox game, you can kiss player agency goodbye, and that kind of thing is literally a keystone to a decent sandbox. No rules. Do what you like.

Interesting. I suppose you don't recognize the fact that playing game is real world activity? If you prey on weak player in game, you're as much a bully as if you would be by destroying a sand castle of a kid playing next to you in sandbox.
Game allows for that, its true - and it was part of OP excuse.
Game also allows players to occupy landing pads forever. Don't call those people "pad hoggers" and don't judge them then. They're just having fun.

I mean, play this game as you like, I'm just happy I don't have to play with you.

That is the reasoning of a child.

You should use a smaller ship lol, man does it save you the moolah.

I use a Krait. I only kill AX commanders fighting Thargoid.

Well played xD

Yeah fairy muff, but that a little overly excessive firepower to kill ships with basically flat zero resistances innit?

Get a Viper :p 5k murder bounties are such a plus point it's unreal.

Mate you represent the exact thing I'm pointing out.

Do you go to the cinema and berate people who have just watched an action flick or a horror movie because they are all crazy nut jobs who shouldn't be let out into society. There is a big difference in enjoying an entertainment activity and it been done IRL.

It is a simple thing and has been seen since the inception of multiplayer games. If you get too wound up over some pixels getting blown up then you may have a problem.
Luckily for you ED caters for your capacity to process this by giving you PG and Solo modes so you can play how you want. Want the MP experience but not the potential for PvP go play mobius or your own PG with your group of friends. It's very simply and will save you a lot of stress that you are inducing on yourself.

If you'll read this thread carefully from beginning, you'll notice something that might surprise you. I've always responded to certain things in certain posts. I've never made any general declarations, like "attacking other players is evil", or "OP is evil incarnate"
When I red first post I saw something that reminded me of confession of a bully, so I paraphrased to get this picture across.
When OP declared that he was an arsehole in game and not in real life, I simply pointed out that game is taking place in real life, there are people playing, so it is real life activity. And if you'll act like an arsehole in any game, you might say that it was just a game, and you're not like that in RL, but that's not quite true - you're a person who acts like an arsehole when playing a game. If that happens often, then it's a personality trait. And people might not like to play with you.

I actually understand and accept the fact that when playing this game in open you might be attacked for no reason. I don't neccesserily understand why someone does this, especially when attacking some defenceless player, I don't like it much (although probably for slightly different reasons than you might think), but I'm not crying over this. As you've pointed out there are other modes for me to play if I wish, for which I'm gratefull.

Just try to understand this:
when you attack someone weaker multiple times, threathen him that you'll be hunting him and destroying his ship on sight if he will not act obidiently, you can't justify that as "game mechanics" (or "it's ok, because it's fun for me"). Not everyone want's to play this game aggresively and you might be ruining his experience. Just consider that. Being attacked randomly is fine (tough luck), but being targeted by some wierd bored dude, because he wanted to feel superior and you've done something to upset him? Doesn't sound like too much fun to me (I appreciate the fact that OP declared he graciously decided not to hunt this poor bloke till the end of his days after all). That's my point.

Florenus,
Let me satisfy your sadistic desire for public character defamation of strangers...
Yes I am a vile human being in real life because of what I do in elite dangerous.
Yes you are very good person in real life because of how you play elite dangerous.
I hope that gives you the confirmation you need

Again this entire post just reinforces the point I was making about differentiation between a fictional space game and the real world.

In ED I can be and have been a completely heartless/merciless killer who has attacked people and killed them for no other reason than they were there and I could. However the idea of doing such an act out in the local high street is totally appalling and isn't anything that would ever cross my mind. If you can't see the difference between the two, which you have repeated stated there is no difference, then well you won't ever understand the OP and you are better off playing in PG's or solo for you own mental sanity.

Yeeahhhh noooo.

That my friend, is called role-play.

Same reason as I attack anyone with a Fed tag on thier ship.

Same reason as I will also wait until the pad hoggers leave and blow them up.

Hell even the same reason as I kill people who are attacking NPC's whose names I like in the HAZ res.

How one conducts himself in game, has absolutley no bearing on anything outside of that game. None. Zero. Zilch. Nada. Sweet **** all.

When I get to Robigo mines I am denied docking. Someone is on the only medium pad. It is the very same cmdr!

"Apologies for destroying your vessel. You should have stopped. I would not have continued. Now, please leave the pad I need to use it. I will not harm you."

"Hmmm, maybe I just go make a tea now" he replies.

"Cmdr, don't be foolish. If you do not leave in the next two minutes I will hunt you across the galaxy and destroy you wherever I see you"

"People like you ruin elite dangerous" he says.

While you're playing a CMDR who scum, this player, who is abusing the lack of of a docking queue is scum themselves and far more a problem for the game than any in-game murderer.

Had one pad hogger again yesterday, Thrakkath, Safe Haven, Python docked on the single M pad. Rage. Mode flip to solo. Muh immurshon :|

Regarding killing AX vessels:

As someone who had run-ins with truffle and other HALT commanders before, I think this is way better to handle than murderhobo sprees against shieldless traders. The AX vessels are stuffed to the brim with shields and/or hull, so escape is usually no problem. Just have to always have a high-wake target ready and off you go. You simply won't get killed fast enough to not escape. If that happens to me I usually switch to my pvp vessel and try to get revenge. Just doesn't work out most of the times :D
