It shall be like any of the SIM games, all Pilots will have 'needs' and shall be displayed as an icon over their ship, this is part of the new UI.

I already have a 256k ly route planned to re-visit all my 200+ ELWs.

Can't wait to remotely detonate asteroids into tiny little chunks. Also I love love LOVE the scanning UI and the results it shows. And that it actually matters WHERE to aim the mining beam.
Also it's sensible to split the beta into separate parts. I imagine you guys are still doing the final sprint on a number of issues during the first week of beta.

I saw that as loading the big features up front, for bugfixing.

Last week not much new gets released so the patch has time to settle, last thing you want is to drop game changing features a week before go live.

It is going to be a hectic 3 weeks for the devs, my symaphies go out to all the devs reading!

Please no, this is the Death star all over again. Shockwaves are spherical. I don't see anything on that asteroid that would cause the shockwave to be funneled and travel along only that plane instead of expanding out as soon as the gases/debris come out.
