News Beyond - Chapter Four - Beta Announcement

Why isn't there a console beta at all? It's hardly community feedback if large parts of the community have no word in it.
And if the betas are not about feedback but about bug reporting, even more reason to have console betas? Am I missing something?

Because consoles. Sony and Microsoft have guidelines regarding product certifications for release, and the beta does not adhere to their guidelines.

Not true. It's purely a FDev decision and they probably feel they can get the feedback/testing they need from the PC player base.

I don't think it is entirely only FD decision. First of all, all releases, beta or not, gets vetted by Sony/Microsoft. That costs money for FD. There's no huge benefit to do so. 99% of bugs are for all platforms, and yes, sometimes 1% happens (SRV crash), but overall there are no practical sense to do this.

Beta isn't about feedback though, it is mostly about fixing crashes, very visible gameplay issues and other weirdness.

The sad reality is that it wouldn't matter. There are console-related bugs in this game that were reported almost 1 year ago, and yet remain unfixed over many updates. Fixing bugs is not one of Frontier's strengths... :(

It's been discussed on these forums probably countless times now, it comes down to MS and Sony REQUIRING all 'updates' to be certified and they will NOT certify an update that is classified as a beta for an already released game. I guess maybe FDev could release a whole new 'early access' version or something, but I doubt that would be approved since it isn't really a new game. They've explained the process a long time ago when asked about console beta's.

It's 'possible' they may be able to run Beta's via the Xbox Insider on the MS side (I know I've had access to a few game beta's that way, but they've ALL been MS studio games, not third party developers).

Could those strange looking objects in the video be the new probes we have been promised?

Amazing 40 seconds when all said and done, roll on the 30th!

#rememberTheGnosis

it's more than a tag...

It is a recall for all of us to remember, player and of course FDev...

The gnosis was the worse event, a disaster for all players that want to play Elite as a game, not as a bugged-royal-rumble.

Every time in last year (maybe 2) we saw some great news, with awesome trailer,s we hoped to see a step to a better Elite, something that we really want-to-play, not only a grind game or a royal rumble, but a great universe where fly, build corporation, put player toghether to reach some goals, change the universe self and not only see a distant deaf politic, explore and find new thigs randomly: not the day after a new patch.

#rememberTheGnosis is to bring all of us to reality, and an attempt to let know to FDev that a lot of players (most of them with lifetime-pass) are waiting to return to play an Elite they would like to play.

NB: Sorry for my English
