News Beyond - Chapter Four - Beta Announcement

Now you want to talk about 3.3? ok keep these in mind when the live stream show these features.

Mining- needs to yield minimum 10 mil/h
Cr/h does not equal fun.

The fun part of mining could be discovering lucrative roid rings just outside the bubble using the new exploration mechanics.
exploration- needs to be fun not another personal narrative aka grind. the whole point is to go where you need to
The point of exploration is to discover stuff, this can be done along the way, or when you are where you were going.

I will be very critical towards the exploration mechanics, but there's a problem there. Longevity. I cannot determine how long a feature will keep me entertained. In the case of exploration, the goal of the mechanism is POIs. Which means discovering the POIs need to be worthwhile. And I don't mean worth as in credits, I don't give a donkeys about how much credits I get for finding POIs. I care about the experience of finding the little buggers.

Because that's the catch when you have criteria like: needs to yield 10 mil/h. When you're motivated by credits, you will grind for credits.

mining is all about making Cr so is passengers missions and trading. only combat and exploring can you some satisfaction beyond credits.

grinding for credits is the mining, trading, an S-uber purpose.

Just a thought, but you might want to give consideration to hosting livestreams either during the weekends or other times when career people outside of Great British time could attend, at least every once in awhile.

1300 or 1400 Central on a Tuesday or Thursday EVERY time is rather frustrating.

No matter when they host the livestream, there will always be people who will not be able to catch it live. That's why you can watch the recorded version afterwards at you leasure.

You know, seeing how tomorrow's stream covers exploration, lighting, and the codex, that's a LOT for a one hour stream. I hope they go well over one hour and show us plenty.

Alternatively, shown us a bit today to lessen the load on tomorrow's stream! :D

Nice try Mengy! :)

...no one has posted here in 9 minutes. Is everyone ok? Is my internet down? Has the world ended? Helllooooooo?

LOL - wait until tomorrow night. This forum is gonna explode! [haha]

And I'm gonna miss it! [cry] 'cos I'll be watching Warmduscher at the Tuffnel Park Dome. [cool]

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.

But Ziggy, you missed the point - some people just HAVE to grind for credits to buy those big expensive ships, they are status symbols you know?

(I have enough credits for a dozen rebuys or so, for those days I make mistakes, but don't want an anaconda, cutter, corvette... )

Without game there wouldn't be even. Without FD there wouldn't be Gnosis. Without FD trying to do something interesting there wouldn't be first *real time* attack on some structure. Yes, there were bugs. Yes, there were issues with communication. Yes, some people did not get a memo.

But going around using obvious reference to real life events where real life people died is just dumb and jarring. You can criticize FD, you can say that you will be careful before hyping release - fine. Just stop using stupid excuses, or try to induce forum drama to drive your points home. It is annoying as hell. No one benefits from that.

Eagleboy, here nobody want to criticize.

Suddenly when we saw the trailer, most of us (first myself) started to fantasize... Wow, now probably explorers can discover mining locations, and miners can go and mine material to make money for the Squadron while Military player defent them, and we all can collaborate to have fun and ...sciaff... (sound of a SLAP).

Some wise player: #rememberTheGnosis , remember all time passed to organize the event and remember all the disappont in the end of event.

In the end what bring to us this event?
New discoveries for guardians or for thargoids? a new lore? some very rare weapon?
NOTHING.

Nothing that you can already play. You can already go in Guardian and make minigame. You can already explode other players, you can already make exploration yourself or go in some expedition, we and Cannon made some in the past.

So, remember that all you see is not always what you get. [WYSINAWYG]
And finally #rememberTheGnosis is not to make players to quarrel, is only to tell to FDev, we are here waiting, we would to trust in you, in this moment we are afraid but we cannot...

Describes most PvP encounters we hear about!

PvP is not: I build a FULL-Combat Ship with no cargo and no eploration modules and then I go where other players want to make other activities and kill everyone, because I'm sure that his ship is not paragonable to my FULL-Combat ship. This is stupidity.

PvP is ask other players hey, do you want to make a match with me? One Vs One?

In reality (or in a simulation of a space game like Elite) bad-guy normally ask other player to give cargo (called Piracy), and don't go random in space to kill everybody for the fun of it. And if you want to impersonate a Crazy bad guy, the reality is that after the second of third ship you destroy, all police is up to you, and kill you forever or better destroy your ship and put you in a prison for the rest of life: that in the game is translate as a permanent GameOver (or maybe some limit time ban from game).

I Really would see how many players will still play this "fake PvP" when they risk the game itself...

In days gone by you had PvPer's who sought out other like minded players for combat, and you have PKer's (Player Killers) who only sought out other players because they were players and not NPCs regardless of their combat 'status'. I'm all for player combat in a game setting but not just because I'm a human.

Looking forward to the slow reveal of all the new features and participating in the beta the next few weeks.

I'm expecting that the "new ships" reveal includes a few new SRV options.
Exploration-focused SRV
Mining-focused SRV
SRV racer for community events

Anyone want to make a bet? Say a 100 imperial slaves if there are new SRV's in the Nov 8th livestream ... IF so - ping me and place your bets before November 8th: CMDR ThunderFish. (BTW I have no inside info - just making a logical presumption based on the mining/exploration focus of this update)
