Gul Dukat: Faction Leader

Dukat: The boom times are here, Weyoun! The Cardassian Faction is enjoying a period of Civil Liberty! These are great times for Cardassia!

Weyoun: And the Dominion squadron supporting your....Dictatorship.

Dukat: Of course. But the war against those who foolishly oppose us is going well on all fronts.

Weyoun: War? You mean wars don't you?

Dukat: As far as the people are concerned, that is fake news! Distributed by a desperate Federation, eager to breed discontent and Civil Unrest among our people. We are one big happy faction!

Weyoun: Lie to your people if you must but don't lie to me, Dukat! I’ve accessed the Squadron Faction database! Fighting is present within twelve of your star systems! Three of those are running out of food! One of those is in Lockdown! I suppose you want us to complete missions to feed your people?

Dukat: The Cardassian Faction appreciates any assistance from squadron members aligned to our goals, along with the continued victories in conflict zones against enemies of Cardassia. Our estimates predicate the end of fighting a week from now.

Weyoun: What about the Outbreak reports from the outlying systems? Disease is rampant and local economies are bust!

Dukat: Cardassia, boasts the finest health care system within the entire region!!!

Weyoun: …..But?

Dukat: But….if your squadron members could supply several thousand tons of basic medicines to those systems, along with large donations, it would be appreciated. The Cardassian Faction appreciates any assistance from squadron members aligned to our goals.

Weyoun: I’m sure.

Dukat: Are you happy?

Weyoun: Excuse me?

Dukat: You should be happy. I am. So are our people. The time is almost ripe for expansion, and when that time comes, I assure you, we will liberate yet another star system from Federal cruelty and decadence.

Weyoun: Will that be before or after the core systems are forced to deal with numerous security threats?

Dukat: We are well aware of Federal activity against our security forces. I assure you, any lockdown reports regarding core commodity markets and bulletin boards are-

Weyoun: Fake news?

Dukat: Exactly! But-

Weyoun: The Cardassian Faction appreciates any assistance from squadron members aligned to your goals. Including those who collect bounties within the core systems, right?

Dukat: Like I said, these are great times for the Cardassia Faction!

We are the borg.
Lower your shields and surrender your ships.
We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own.
Your culture will adapt to service us.
Resistance is futile.

He was a great character very well acted same with Garak. In fact im struggling to think of a bad character in DS9. Keiko maybe.

Dukat, Damar, Garak, Weyoun, Martok....even Rom and Nog. Such a great show which developed great character arcs, even for the guest characters.

Even Keiko got Pah-Wraithed for an episode. [big grin]

General Martok was glorious. And Quark, Quark was awesome.

Come to Quark's
Quark's is fun
Come right now
Don't walk, run!

Nog's character really came around from being a trouble maker kid with Jake all the way to being the first Ferengi to join Starfleet. Aron Eisenberg also did an appearance as Kar on Voyager and I wish he could have joined the crew for a season or two. Probably could have added another level in dealing with the Kazon.

Elim Garak gets my vote as the pinnacle of being cardassian.

And quite easily one of my three favorite characters in all of Star Trekdom.

For me it's a tough call betwean DS9 and Babylon 5 for the best space TV series so far!

Which is ironic given that Paramount was accused of ripping off JMS's B5 "writers bible" to make DS9 in the first place.

Very shady business, Hollywood

I wish B5 was on streaming services, or even got some just representation in Elite

The most we got is if you go to Darkes High in Epsilon Eridani, there is a station there, its blue and its an Orbis class starport.

DS9 and B5 are my 2 favorites as well, but in the final lap B5 wins by having a better "Grand Story Arc", and some character development was just fantastic. And the way they ended it was just excellent.

Not for me - B5 wins hands down - RIP G'Kar et al.

I think a spin off series of B5 based in time frame of the "Deconstruction of Falling Stars" episode could be done to bring the B5 magic to a new generation while keeping true to the old. Shame it is unlikely to happen though.

FTR OP should that not be the Cardassian Union. ;) Nice mapping of the new ED mechanics on to that particular episode. There is a similar one for B5 too during the Shadow War when Londo Mollari was the Minister of Security and Emperor Cartagia was running the show.

[EDIT]FTR I half expected to see a Cat joke somewhere in this thread given that reported Fuel Rat incident involving a real world cat.[/EDIT]

They're both great shows, were lucky to have them both. For me, its DS9 (shocker!). The characters were fantastic and it had a better variety of episodes, many of which are still relevant decades later. It wasn't just great Trek, it was great TV. The closing arc (aka The Final Chapter as it was advertised by Paramount) wrapped up things nicely - take Kira, a Cardassian-hating Bajoran terrorist who in the end, helps the Cardassian people ignite the revolution against their Dominion oppressors.
