I'm happy you guys are so chuffed about the lack of progress. Clearly fdev feels the right thing to do is move pp to open only and is running into the typical roadblock of a certain player demographic screaming like stuck pigs at the thought. Just look at all the fuss over the FSS, and imagine something bigger.
Nothing new about you guys holding the game development hostage.

Hmmm.... that's an interesting position. I can see the devs not wanting to do it if the majority don't want it (although that doesn't always stop devs doing it... Epic have made a number of changes to F:STW that were massively objected to by the community). The thing here is, those who support OOPP made many claims during the height of the debate that a MAJORITY wanted OOPP. They pointed to all the forum posts in support of it.
Hmm.... does that mean FD are listening to a minority? Interesting if true.
More likely its either they have gathered all feedback and therefore:
1) They still want to do it, they just don't have the time and resources right now.
2) The feedback across all platforms and media indicated the majority don't want it.
3) They considered the feedback and decided it was not good for the game, either at this time, or maybe ever.
Or maybe something else.
I don't think you need a tinfoil hat for this one.
As for being happy about it not happening. Well, i'd be happy either way.
I think PP is a terrible mechanic, and one the PvPers are welcome to if they want to spend all their time hauling goods from A to B or grinding out kills to maintain their power.... not that i assume for a minute they will do so. They will hang about in SC looking for opponents to kill, and if PP dies because of going open only, they will blame someone else for it, or if their power fails due to nobody hauling goods, then they will blame someone else for it.
So, if it remains as it is, its good, because it means FD are sticking to their guns about modes, which gives me greater trust in FD.
If it goes open only, i'm probably going to get some forum lulz.
As I said elsewhere, if it goes open only though, I would want the devs to remove all traces of PP from PG/solo. If this is mode exclusive, then i don't want it impacting on the other modes in any shape or form. I don't want to see PP NPCs. I don't want to see the PP map. I don't want PP news. I want all PP effects gone from the systems including cheaper prices in Li Yong systems and black markets opening and closing due to Archon's control.
And at that point, i think it would be best if FD simply split Open from PG/solo and had two separate BGS.
It would give the open only crowd exactly what they wanted.... except, it wouldn't be what they really want. Which would be very funny as well.
I’m still smiling from the realization that it will be easier than ever to set up a Xanatos Gambit... at least against those who believe they can PvP their way to BGS success.
