Will there be more than 2 New Ships?

During Thursday night's livestream, we'll be revealing the two new ships that are coming to Elite Dangerous during Beyond - Chapter Four!

I would like something like the Nostromo, a Refinery ship with a Drop ship for checking out planets not the daft landing a mahoosive conda style ship (look at the requirements to land the old shuttle just in 1g!) it could dual role for deep exploration and mining.

Hey ho, not to be I'd imagine.

Unless the Krait Phantom does not count as *New* due to the fact it is a variant? Don't want to get hopes up though.

Hopefully, it might alternatively be that they aren't counting non-standard ships such as megaships, capital ships, SLFs and the like as "ships".

If it's only the two we've already seen and still no Panther after the reveal of the biggest module inflation ever for a single mining build, you can keep your patch.

I wouldn't know about that. So far this year:

T10
Chieftain
Challenger
Crusader
Krait MkII
Krait Phantom
[That other new ship leaked in Beta]

7 ships released and/or leaked so far.

If there's not an exploration ship in there - the first one released for 3 years, then......I will not be happy. All year its been combat combat combat, with at least one new combat ship on the way in Chapter 4, an exploration update.

I agree there's an large Alliance ship on the way, just to give that superpower 4 ships to match up with the Feds and Imps......until the Imperial Explorer is released, I hope.

Plus the 3 ship launched fighters from 3.2...

I think it's great that combat has an enormous variety of ships. I just wish the same could also be said about all the other professions. And seeing there are already far more combat ships than for any other profession (I think we're approaching the point there will be more combat ships than all other kinds of ships combined), this feels like a massive let down.

Like I said before, I think it's great that combat has such variety of ships, I'm just saying all the other people would surely enjoy having the same variety as well. If FD is so reluctant to making trading/exploration/etc ships, then maybe at least more variety of multipurpose ships, that's what most people fly anyway, looking into station traffic reports.

ps: before someone says "but you can already do X with the python/aspx/anaconda/whatever", you can also already do combat with the FDL, and that's not the point.

It would be an ironic twist if FDev release two completely different ships, and NOT either the Krait Phantom or the Mamba.

Then for the next few months, players get teased with occasional sightings of the "ghostly" Krait Phantom, while the occasional Mamba goes screaming past and off into the distance at 1000m/s.

But, no, you can't have one...

You know what, I'd love that.

If we it's true that we will only get two new ships Mamba and Phantom (Unless FDev pulls a M. Night Shama-lama-ding-dong and there is more than two new ships, i'm not counting on it)

Then we get the Mamba which seems to be yet another Medium combat ship which will have the same chance at being useful for exploration as our chances of getting the Panther Clipper (speaking of the Panther Clipper i would like it if FDev would stop giving us the run around every time we ask about it, just tell us if it's never coming to the game) atm i don't have much interest in the Mamba outside of how it will look from the inside, if it turns out to be a large combat ship then i'll have a tiny bit more interest in it (If it turns out to be "large" then it's likely to be "large" in the same way the clipper and Type-7 is, which is to say a medium ship that ate too much food at the buffet and is now too fat to fit on the medium pad)

And then finally we have the Krait Phantom which is likely to be about as good as the Krait MkII for exploration, (maybe a little bit better?) don't get me wrong i like the Krait MkII as an exploration ship, and there is a good chance that i will like the Phantom too.

If there is only two new ships, I hope they beef up the iClipper with a class 6 FSD,class 6 fuel tank and an extra class 1 optional module slot. :p

Even a class 5 fuel tank would already be a godsend, it's the thing that annoys me the most in the iClipper is that tiny fuel tank coupled with it's dreadful fuel consumption.
