Will there be more than 2 New Ships?

Why do I say that? because the one thing that makes the panther clipper special is that it doesn't fit through the mailslot. .

Concept art has always shown the Panther being able to fit on standard pads, there is plen-ty of room in the mail slot. David also mentioned in a interview about Panamax freighters, the Panther will be similar as in the design will take account of the max width and height of the access corridor.

That means the max size for any ship is 170ft high, 728ft wide (to fit through the slot) around 318ft to fit on the pad. That is massive compared to any ships we have at the moment.

Another triangular wedge shaped ship would get much more criticism.
The new Mamba happens to be an awesome and incredibly seductive design.
I am not disappointed at all. Quite the opposite. I am even more stoked about the Mamba than I was about the Krait and I love the Krait.

Hmm. I think that is subjective. I think it looks pants. I'd be very happy with a flatter, wider version of the ED FDL, with the cockpit moved forward.

This might be a new ship.

I think not. In fact, there's not a single doubt in my mind about it. To me, this is obviously the Phantom, seen from the side, for three reasons.

One, I looked closely at the shape of the Phantom in the Ch4 trailer. And I was glad to notice that it's not as flat on the top as the MkII. There's a sleek bulge above the thrusters that extends approximately to the middle of the hull, making it looks way less "boxy" than the MkII, which I like. This observation matches what I see there, this is exactly what I would expect the Phantom to look like from this angle.

Two, if you look closely at the most zoomed in picture, you can clearly distinguish, in light grey, bottom right, the position and shape of the cockpit and canopy. Identical to the Krait's = that's just another Krait.

And three, Frontier has used the Phantom almost exclusively in all its Ch4 advertising material so far. There's no obvious reason why this one should be any different. Consistency matters.

(Fourth, it seems to be the same color as the Phantom of the trailer, a furtive dark grey with blueish exhaust.)

I'm hoping the phantom will be a great explorer. The mamba seems cool in its own way but I doubt it connects with any of the 3.3 content.

I dunno.......the name Phantom doesn't give me explorer vibes. If anything that gives me the impression that she'll make for a great smuggler.

To be an all round explorer it (IMO) needs the same number of slots as the MkII. Heck, if it was an explorer, why not call it Krait Explorer?

To my mind a stealth explorer ship combines two of the best possible worlds. It's one thing to traverse new but empty star systems and yet another to cross unexplored but possibly hostile areas

Yeah I'm hoping the Phantom is a top tier explorer too. The signs point to it honestly, seeing how it has less hardpoints and lacks an SLF compared to the Krait II, so it's not a combat ship unless its designed to be a lackluster one.

The Mamba is certainly a combat ship, probably an FDL competitor.

It's an hour plus stream on Thursday though, and two new ships doesn't seem like enough to fill an entire stream with? I have to wonder if there are a lot of changes to some existing ships too.

Maybe the combat scenarios and CZ's. There are lots of areas being updated in the game which isn't just exploration and mining.

But I do agree that I would have liked to have seen maybe a mining ship/s and another exploration vessel, maybe an Imperial one.

The Mamba looks like it could be a large ship and bigger then the FDL. At the moment if it is a large ship, then its the only large ship I am interested in having as it looks better then the others.

I truly hope the Krait Phantom will be a good alternative explorer, if not then I won't be interested in that one either.

Why so many combat ships? we just got three Chieftain variants for crying out loud.
