Will there be more than 2 New Ships?

This is what confuses me, does that mean two extra ships on top of the ones we know about?

I read that as the two new ships coming in Chapter 4, not revealing two extra ships on top of the ones we have already spotted

Happy to be wrong of course

Yeah. Combat modules. [blah] Lets see if we get more useful stuff to benefit all players, like Limpet and Scanner Arrays.
No, we're getting a Guardian Potato Launcher and a Asteroid Slingshot

During Thursday night's livestream, we'll be revealing the two new ships that are coming to Elite Dangerous during Beyond - Chapter Four!

My excitement for the upcoming livestream has just been reduced to 0.5 knowing that the other 1.5 is appointed to the already known and seen "new" ships.

Unless the Krait Phantom turns out to be a surprising ship other then a close variant of the existing Krait I will be quite disappointed.
The Mamba is obviously another combat ship on top of the pile of combat ships we already have.
Just two new ships and one of them has to be another combat ship,............why!?!!!
I can't imagine this livestream taking longer then twenty minutes.

The previous livestreams were a great succes, the finale not so much I'm afraid.

That is what I was hoping for XD

I'd admit - I'd love to see a Class 4 Railgun. I've never seen a ship melt while firing weapons before.

But yeah......this combat diet is getting stale now. For me at least. Enjoy the feast. [smile]

Thanks Paige. We already know that 3.3 will contain the Mamba and Krait Phantom, and we have a good inkling that the Mamba is yet another combat ship. It's the Phantom we aren't sure about yet.

Understand that the past 4 of 5 ships added to the game have been combat ships. The T-10, Chieftain, Challenger, and Crusader, not to mention the three new combat SLF's too. The Mamba will mean the last 5 out of 6 ships are combat. Non combat players would like some new ships to fly too! Especially seeing how 3.3 is revamping both mining and exploration. If the Phantom ends up being combat too then that makes it 6 out of 7 ships.

If both new ships are combat ships then please tell Ed or Will or whoever is doing the stream to be ready, because that won't go over very well in the chat. There comes a point where enough is enough. The combat focus when it comes to ships truly needs to subside for a bit. Lets please give the other aspects of the game some new ships too.

Please.

The thing with 'more combat ships' is that - for a little while - the combat crew will be salivating over another 'meta' build, at least until everyone who wants one has one... Then we'll hear the complaints about PG/Solo and how everything should be in Open - mainly because one meta build trying to kill another meta build is much harder than blowing up traders, small ships and explorer builds...

I'd hoped that with such a prolonged calling out for an 'explorer' build that we'd see an offering or two suitable for those explorers and miners being given new toys this update, but feel that just won't be so :(

Dare I ask: what's a mandela memory?

It is a false memory, made famous when Mandela passed away, some people claim he actually died much earlier, and many claim to remember a funeral that never happened. These people genuinely believe what they are saying is true, some crazy's also try to link it to alternate realities. The rest of us say the mind is just incredibly powerful, try LSD if you don't believe me.

I'd like to see a new SRV, one with larger cargo space. The missions where you have to go and pick up stuff from the surface would benefit from an 8 cargo SRV, or at least a 4 would be great. And then some specialized exploration/prospecting SRV perhaps that can not only find rocks but you pick up the whole rock and it grinds it up instead of you shooting it and picking the pieces. Along those lines... And preferably an SRV that can take some beating from driving around and hitting rocks, or maybe make the shield protect from rocks.

Dare I ask: what's a mandela memory?

It refers to the "Mandela Effect" a cult conspiracy theory that either the cabal's media empire that runs the worlds' news revise history, or a sci-fi theory that time travelers change history in the past where many remembered events having happened differently. (or another theory that doppleganger lizard aliens take over public figures who seem to go on living)

In the case of Nelson Mandela, supposedly he died or was assassinated years ago in the mainstream news, EDIT: much earlier than supposedly over a decade later.

An ED example is where salty LEP or other cmdrs erroneously or wishfully claim DB and FD "promised" written in stone of features for ED such as spacelegs & atmospherics set to release at deadlines which supposedly have long passed. When the reality was they were always stretch goals and possible features in the future somewhere in the 10 year dev plan after the ED's release in 2015, i.e. 2025. ie. if CIG-lands' SC ponzi can somehow persist for 7+ years siphoning $200 million, why can't there be patience for ED (an unprecedented groundbreaking spacesim game realistically and responsibly made over time with available tech and business resources) to develop gradually over the next 10, 20+ years?

I was hoping to see some realy new ships with other means than combat at the end of the Q4 reveals.
I'm afraid we won't be seeing another update very soon after 3.3, so wishing for some other ships besides combat vessels wasn't that much out of place imho.

I don't get the constant feed of combat ships while so many in the community are asking for something different.

Ah right! Thanks.

No but Fdev im sure categorically said no Orrery any time soon. Even recal an OA video saying that its not likely to ever happen. (maybe another mandela memory).
Im just betting that there is a 3rd ship..... no hype, just my bet.

... Wasn't that years ago? I think it past "Soon" A long time ago.

With the mamba and krait-phantom, that's already 7 new ships with Beyond. And before that were the passenger Saud Kruger ships. I don't really mind no further new ships this year. Many of the ships can do better range jumping easier now. The guardian fsd-booster was the real boost to exploration jumping this year, imo. I'd rather see atmospherics or whatever new is upcoming for ED than more ships for 2019 or the end of Beyond anyways, and take the unexpected pleasant surprises as they come (such as the orrery).

I'm actually mildly excited about this week's stream, because there's no way they can fill an entire hour with two medium ships which aren't introducing any new gameplay. That means that there's a possibility that they'll be unveiling something that applies to all ships. Maybe an across-the-board rebancing of ships?

Everyone's complaint about 2 new ships and no explorers but the module changes to beluga dolphin and orca is like providing 3 new ships too
I'd like to see some Military/AX varients of some existing ships

Sure there is. 30mins to show the internals and talk up how great they are at combat. And another 30mins of painfully watching the Devs figure out how to "fly" them. ;)
