PvP Pvp krait mk2 vs fdl?

Has anyone had on-hands experience with how these 2 ships are against each other, and how they fare against other ships compared to each other? I didn't false how fast the krait was! Thought it was more python speed.
To me it seems like strong offense/ less defense vs high defense/not quite as strong offense.
Obviously the krait turn rate is a slight hinderance.

Cheers

I own 2 of each.
The FDL is hands down better for combat, but I fly the Krait(s) way more often despite being a combat focused pilot.
That's probably not very helpful but make of it what you will, lol...

The FDL turns a much tighter arc but it can stall easily if you are lazy/have poor pip management.
That's what I look for when fighting an FDL.
The Krait can perma-boost on 2 pips on the other hand.
FDLs shields are OP.

Get both!
:)

Everything Bob said except that you can match the FDL's shields using guardian shield reinforcements.
The fact that you can perma-boost with only 2 pips to engines kind of negates it's poor turn rate but I have found that it still is a bit of a hindrance especially when going up against Chieftains and vultures that can turn on a dime.
I also prefer to fly the Krait because the 3 large hardpoints give me a lot more options for weapon load outs whereas I feel kind of limited in what I can use on an FDL. I still like the FDL but it's hard for me to consistently use something that has such poor jump range and so few internal slots. Also, for me it's such a PITA to have to ship my fdl to every fight.

Fair point about the shield boosters.
I have not unlocked those yet so they get overlooked.
Those FDL utility slots though...

You gotta get em unlocked. It will borderline change the game for you. All those ships you've always thought were useless because of how little shields they have will become useable.
You can also convert some hull tanks into shield tanks. My Krait can get up to 1100mj's on a bi-weave with 1100 hull and still have an armored power plant with 3 PA's, a rail and a pack hound.
You do make a good point on the FDL's utility slots though.

Wow, nice numbers and all.

Yeah, I unlocked the GMRP, FSD booster and all the SLFs right in a row so I needed a break from that, lol.
I think I'm recovered now, so thanks for the motivation.

Done that with my Clipper. The Guardian Shield reinforcements are nuts!

Even against a FDL the krait packs a borderline OP punch, providing it is outfitted correctly. The combination of shield cells and a shield reinforcements make it a tough nut to crack

That's interesting. Is 1100 hull considered good? I faced a FdL last night in my multirole spec Krait (about 650 biweave shields, 1150 hull) and I chose not to fight as I considered that what I was up against was a losing battle. Easy enough to escape though, the Krait can low-wake or high-wake whenever the FSD is ready - its mass lock factor is greater than the FdL. Many FdLs will be armed with plasma too so if you can to keep your distance, you can dodge plasma shots reasonably well. How good are the lateral and vertical thrusters on the FdL? If they are pretty good, then a Krait may have the same trouble landing shots on the FdL assuming it also is armed with plasma. Is there any point arming a PvP equipped ship with anything else?

I had 2x class 3 beam lasers and the rest in cannons, which I thought was too underpowered for a decent fight against a CMDR. Well, the last time I faced a CMDR with a similar loadout (burst lasers instead of beams), it took a month of Sundays to bring down my opponent's shields. Just as well we were only practicing and he wasn't firing back - when he started firing, my shields disappeared fairly quickly and my 780 hull went down to about 17% in a few seconds of corrosive multicannon fire (I had a car on board instead of my usual hull reinforcement as I was mission running for BGS work).

PS - I don't do this very often.

It depends on your resistances but 1100 armor and 650mj's on a bi-weave is decent enough to tear someone up.
My fdl has 1100mj's on a bi-weave and 1000 armor and it's near unstoppable in pvp

It bears noting that one can get an FDL much higher than that, if you want, but success depends on skill.
I was quite unpleasantly surprised to learn how low shield values some really good FDL pilots are using!

Prismatics would get me more but I wouldn't have the power to run my 3 pa's, rail and pack hound load out, 2 SCB's and still have an armored/thermal spread power plant. I tried using a prismatic but it just didn't work for me. Not to mention, because it's a bi-weave I usually get my shields back 3 times in a battle after I run out of SCB's.
I'll send you the build in a pm if you wanna see it.

Monstered + armored ought to work fine, no?
That gives 29.6 MW @ .35 efficiency.

I always like to see other builds, please do.

No, even with monstered I'm still 2mjs's short on power and my cargo hatch and interdictor are only 1mj. You'd have to go overcharged which builds up too much heat for me.

With most of the numbers being used here I would be quite hesitant to engage in any serious PvP.
As example my fdl build runs 2300 shields with 2000 odd hull at 545 without issue.
I love both ships but you really got to build them up or your pretty low hanging fruit for a meta build.

Um what are your resistances on you 2000 hull and shields? I can guarantee your resistances are pretty low and you probably don't have any SCB's if you have that much hull. It sounds to me like a pretty noob build actually, considering your stats

How many boosters with that build? If the rails are Grade 5 Long Range try making a set of Grade 4 ones. 5400m is very good and the power draw decrease helps.

I don't need to run a prismatic. My bi-weave build is definitely the way to go for me. If anyone is on Xbox and wants to see for themselves I'd be happy to 1v1 you.

Well if e3 , 155 days and 28000 kills makes me a noob so be it.
I backed off my resistances cause it is meaningless against p a's. The effectiveness is still high though.

Ps. I would love to take your offer of a 1v1. Your name proceeds you. It would be an honour and no doubt very instructive

Both Prismatic and Biweave FDLs can be effective, it all depends on the circumstances.

For dueling, or a small skirmish you'd probably be better off with a biweave. You won't be under heavy focus from multiple ships, and can take advantage of that increased regen rate.

Prismatics are nice in big wing fights, when multiple people are really pressuring you. Biweave regen doesn't matter if you're constantly taking damage.

Of course, a lighter, faster biweave ship can break contact more easily. It depends on who you're fighting, and how good your friends are.
