LOL
is this the best they can do? Not only is it expensive but it forces yet more fake frankenstein monsters into the game...and more species for already overly small maps with nothing else.
The update is nice enough for free...but its a shame that everything its doing should of been there at the start.
Its also a shame that this update and DLC is skipping over a great number of the things people want.
People want decorative items. we want to be able to build unique islands and we dont want to have to deal with terriable small maps with limited space. And the new dino species? what...2 real ones that are kinda meh to begin with (no JPOG dino species, no other better species just a tiny carnivore and another god for saken hadrosaur that will probably have really annoying herd requirments) and 3 hybrids (the stegatops should of been there from the start so we have a haerbivore hyrbid and a carnivore one) and a discounted Saltosaurus?
Frontier...im still not reinstalling your game...and iw ont be paying 12 quid for you to stick your middle finger up at me. 6O quid was paid and this game is still no where near up to par yet. Give us some decorations. Give us some bigger islands...for FREE!...then i might wanna buy your DLC.
Until then...no thanks
You mean people didn't want improvements on the AI? You mean people didn't want herding and sleeping mechanics which we thought were in the game based on the initial trailers? You mean people didn't want Troodon, one of the more highly requested dinosaurs to include in the game? Yes, these should have been there in the start.
I find it hypocritical that you say the hybrids are "forced frankenstein monsters" while also commenting that Stegoceratops, probably the greatest abomination of all the hybrids, should have been in there from the start. In my opinion, Stegoceratops shouldn't have even graced the franchise. It shouldn't have gone beyond an upper management joke. The thing is a damn eyesore. Also, nothing is being forced. This DLC is completely optional. You don't have to buy it. You're not forced to do anything. You know what Frontier could have easily done? Made you pay for all the updates thus far. They could have made you pay for the Fallen Kingdom DLC. It would have publicly destroyed them, but they could have done it. But they didn't, and I'm happy they didn't, because all the necessary updates to the game have been free. However this isn't a needed update to existing content. This is new content that was developed that you can pay for it to be added to the game. Or not, because it's completely optional. Also, 60 quid? That's Deluxe Edition right? meaning you paid and extra 5 for just 5 dinosaurs and you were okay with it, but now you're here to complain about a DLC that costs more for more content? Am I reading you correctly?
You're right that the game should have decorations and bigger islands, and I think those at least should be free. I don't think they'll end up being free though because, as I've said before, they would be likely be new content, not updates to old content (decorations might be able to squeeze in as free though). There's nothing wrong with what you want. It's speaking like a rabid baboon that I have quarrels with. I have quarrels with pretending that the content of the DLCs and updates aren't what people wanted. Don't reduce what they have done just because it isn't what YOU wanted. Challenge mode and greater sandbox options (namely the ability to turn off unlimited funds) were some of the most demanded aspects the community wanted, we have them now. Day and night cycle, one of the most demanded aspects, we will have that. Sleeping and herding behavior, something we thought should have been there from the start as a result of shady marketing practices, well, it'll be in there. Almost everything Frontier has put out since launch has been requested by the community, and I think that's something we should make note of. I never thought they would add sleeping, herding and a day and night cycle. I was pleasantly surprised that all of those will be coming soon. I absolutely never thought they would adjust the sizes of the carnivores, and yet they did. I think decorations (at least) will be on their way. Should all of this have been there from the get-go? I would say yes, but we know why it wasn't. Limited development time frame. Many games fall victim to this. It's why we see so many delays nowadays. It's why so many products are shipped unfinished and are regularly updated post-launch. It sucks, but it's the way it is right now. Acknowledge that.
But allow me to conclude my response by answering your question that you started with. Is this the best they can do? No, I don't imagine it is, because they've shown to be willing to update the game for the betterment of it, responding to many of the demands of the community, which is why I have reason to believe we will at least see decorative options added into the game in the near future. Have an intelligent and thought out response. Wipe the foam off of your mouth and think with a bit of logic instead of irritation.

Now, as for my thoughts on the DLC itself, I really hope the new play areas are much larger than what we've seen thus far. They probably aren't, but still, I want larger play areas. I am happy with the new dinosaurs (even Stegoceratops, much as I hate the thing, I still welcome it). I love the look of Troodon and Spinoraptor. I hope Frontier continues to update the game so it can be the one we all imagined it would be. They're on the right track.
