The changes to delivery missions seriously sucks

The Lizard is normally so cool and cold-blooded. I guess anyone can lose it after flying 20K light years empty.
He wrote that it was 20k LS, which makes the whine that more whiney. A low point for the lounge lizard for sure.

Just give me the damn cargo when I take the mission already.

Apart from somehow auto-loading the max % of the total cargo that your current ship can handle, I dont see how or why. It needs to work the same as the wing cargo depot missions to be consistent, not auto load.

It's a brilliant change, and I believe one they said was coming when the wing delivery missions first appeared. Well done Fdev.

First, thanks for posting and all of the replies. I had noted the cargo depot line in the release notes, yet hadn't considered the load up process. I haven't had a chance to run a cargo mission yet.

I also see a couple mentioned that there is no mission indicator on galmap for the station where the mission was picked up?

I can't check right now and don't recall ... Is there a description and destination of the mission giver in transactions?

If not, does this mean we will need to start using book marks to remember where we need to pick up the rest of the load?

And finally ... since I see a couple other mission board suggestions here. I think it would be beneficial if there was a route icon next to a mission if it's destination is on the route you already have plotted and are looking for things you can complete as you are cruising through systems.

Yeah I thought about taking the whole shipment with a larger ship, offloading it to some bigger station, then using a smaller ship to transfer to outpost... but forgot that starports in elite loathe you and your cargo so much that they won't even allow you to store it on deck for 5 minutes :) Oh well... "you won't have commodity storage because you'll hack the bgs" (c) Sammarco.

It was light seconds, not light years.

I don't normally find 20Kls to be all that far. I'm just annoyed that there was a pretty much unannounced (and not asked for) change to a mechanic that has been around for years. It's also made accepting these missions pretty cumbersome. But FD have never been very good at QoL for user interfaces.

I'm, also not sure that you get offered a (non-wing) delivery mission if your ship isn't large enough. I was using a Type-9 last night, so couldn't tell. Missions to outposts were blocked though.

Thinking about it, what would help a lot with these missions, is to open the mission screen - with the bit that fill is when you accept the mission.

I'm going to make a suggestion thread for this. edit - done

The mechanic existed with the Wings missions already. I realised this because I took a solo wing mission to deliver multi-loads of cargo just before 3.1 ended. And of course, I assumed I had a partial load of the required cargo on board because I bought it from the market .

I'm guessing the devs have been so focused on wing missions, they assumed we would all know how to load the cargo for the new 3.2 mechanic. An oversight, sure, but understandable how it may have happened.

I did see the new shiny buttons because I don't play like a robot.
It's great to be able to pick mission and then change to the appropriate ship for loading.
Now what I didn't think of was, as others neglected too, was checking pad size. So there I was unable to change to medium ship since they can't hold the cargo. Luckily it was two hauls in one so I abandoned one and sold the cargo at a black market and I happily fit the rest in my Krait and delivered.
But it sure was a conundrum. Would be good to be warned if one is attempting to load cargo in a ship that can't deliver... though I like learning through mistakes and appreciate the lack of handholding.

What a fantastic surprise addition! I cannot even remember how many times I Cursed the mission board whenever great delivery missions showed while I was outfitted for passengers or in the wrong ship, but with a cargo ship in the shipyard.

And a huge thanks to those of you who 'discovered' it ingame and fully play tested the lack of an autoload feature. Definitely saved me from making that mistake. Maybe. If I remember this thread when I get back civilised space.

This could mean that you can now take the mission if you aren't in a ship with sufficient cargo cap?

If so swings and roundabouts. I agree that not being notified sucks though! Lol, did you not wonder how you plotted so few jumps... rofl, really you gotta laugh ;)

Patch notes said they added the wing mission mechanics to solo delivery missions.

Ie, can take multiple trips to fulfil a delivery mission that you might otherwise have not been able to accept due to not enough cargo space. And most likely partial rewards claim for partial delivery.

I see it more as additional grind imo....

It's actually less grind. Now you don't have to ignore a high paying delivery mission just because you're not in your hauler. Aka, switch to your hauler and mission disappeared previously. Now you can accept it and either switch to a larger cargo capacity ship, or simply do it in smaller chunks if that isn't an option.

It's a great change, which might need a few qol tweaks to eliminate any minor issues.

It sounds like a good change.

But is it right that you could now end up flying to an outpost where you may not be able to land?

Wouldn't you know this when you plot your course? Or do you just plot to the system, and arbitrarily plot to the station after you get to the system? Seems like something someone would or should notice before even departing.

This is ahuge thing man, it's made the game much better. Yes, you should have been informed, sorry about that, but trust me this is great. I can take one way missions as I go about my business in the bubble and fulfill them with my other ships later at my leisure, not to mention I can take the mission and not fill my hold immediately, leaving me free to fdo other things with other ships while having that missoin.

I really think this is a HUGE QoL improvement.

This ---^

I thought the change would be good enabling stacking the best delivery missions, but when I logged in today to tidy up some left over form yesterday they were no longer displayed even though I still had 6 hours to complete them. This is going to be 3 huge fines. Not good.

it's a horrible change for me. I don't wanna see missions that I don't have cargo space for.. just like I don't wanna see any of them pesky wing missions. there's gotta be a filter/option to toggle those annoying new features for 2.8% that actually use them...

Welcome to Elite! Always good to see new faces ;)

Just travelled 20Kls to the destination station to find that I hadn't taken any cargo.

The new system is better overall. With any change you'll have to adjust to old habits. I'm guessing this will never happen to you again. SO - good?
