Are people okay with "space fog"?

I know this is beta-related but it's also in the live-game although the beta changes magnify the issue...

If you visit the "Jailhouse Rock & Blues Bar" in LFT 926, for example, this is what you get:-

I'm not that bothered, either way, but the "space fog" effects visible in various places (megaships, orbital installations etc) look way too exaggerated to me.

If most people like it, I guess I'll just have to get used to it but I'm not sure what purpose it serves or why it's so intense.

Also, if they're going to apply "fog" effects like this, they really need to make the effort to make our ship-lights reflect off the "fog" visibly - like pretty-much every FPS since around 2005 has managed to do.
It just looks horribly halfassed when you're flying through a "fog" that's so thick that you can barely see the bow of your ship, you can see the effect of your lights on a nearby structure but you can't see the effect of your lights on the "fog", itself.

I don't know, guess its another fake immersion?

consider how fast a station orbits a planet or asteroids orbit a planet in the belt. Would the fog really stay stationary relative to them? I have some big doubts about that, yet no scientific disproof. have astronauts tested that in space yet?

Withitn stations, maybe, at least it's possible, but would question their engineered solution for ventilation then.

That fog looks like someone detonated some roid nearby though. If you feel it is too much - report it. Like there might be places where it is too much.

I'm fine with space fog, looks funky.

Far more importantly is that a Mamba cockpit and whats the hardpoint positioning like.

Not all of space is a gas giants surface...

Heh,

Just been trying to find somewhere to give it a test.
All the hardpoints seem to fire okay, with a decent FoF - not like the FdL, where the C4 hardpoint won't aim above the nose of the ship.

Set mine up with a C4 beam, 2 x C1 beams and 2 x C3 MCs (Beams G5 efficient and MCs G5 l/r) and it still overheats noticeably.
It's a nice ship but there's going to be a LOT of complaints from people who want to roll it in PAs and rails.
Definitely more suited to kinetics/efficient lasers.

Thanks, I just had a look at OA's reveal and IT HAS A CENTRAL SEAT !!!!!!.

Looks like I have a new favorite ship, even without having tried it yet.

Flies like a brick though! :( (unengineered)
...and the view is obscured by the two pointy bits at the front of the ship, like horse blinkers, and the glass canopy is ruined by the large headrest on the seat so when in VR this stops you looking over your shoulders :(

Edit: and yes, I love the space frog.

I dont mind fog in general, if it looks good stick it in! Problem is judging by that screenshot it looks awful :S tell me you are on low settings?

Considering those things are basically city's floating in space, the fog seems right. Should have vents all over the place though, venting gases into space.

'fraid not. [sad]

That's 1920 x 1080 "High" settings.

It'd look better if there was more "blending", I suppose.
As it is, it's blatantly obvious that your ship is a different "layer" which doesn't have the same effects applied to it as the "outside world" does.

If I'm flying something like an Annie or Corvette, I can see the nose of my ship perfectly but the "fog" will be obscuring a structure that the nose of the ship is actually touching.

I'd also be happier with it if it looked like there was a reason for it; if, say, there were vents where it was thicker or, perhaps, the exhausts from a power station.
As it is, it just looks like somebody just said "Hey, let's bung some fog in here!", to me at least.

I like space fog.

Crystal clear space is actually really boring after the first few times of gazing at it. Lol

Can't see Stealthie's screenshot, so maybe that particular one looks off.
