So by the looks of streamers playing Mamba ... Imperial Clipper has nothing to fear. Mamba can't turn and Mamba heats up like a deep fryer..
Though it still remains to be seen how FD will tune it, a Mamba pilot while giving full speed chase will have to ration his/her gunfire vs heat. And since the manueverable thrusters are weak, these have a tendency to overheat too as clearly seen in the crash that occurred in the livestream demo.
Planetside in a 1G or greater environment, I would guess that the Mamba is VERY vulnerable to a hostile ship which is more maneuverable and runs cooler.

It overheats after three boosts on a 0.1G planet...

Yeah, he's beating the mamba so much, it died, got brought back to life and then he killed it again. The mamba is really bad. Except for looking pretty, that it does well. After watching Yamiks live in the mamba, i think the only ship that is going to DIE is the Mamba itself! It is laughable!

Just spent some time in a compromised NAV with an Engineered Mamba. It's not too bad, but has some difficulty keeping nimble ships in the firing arc of fixed weapons without resorting to reverski. It's also got such a bizzare combination of rotationals (mediocre pitch, very good roll, almost non-existent yaw) that I'll need to switch around my sensitivity curves if I want to do any really FA off flying.
Greetings Morbad,
boosting FA off into the pitch doesn't work like in a Clipper then? You know horsing the Clipper around that way is one of the best tricks. SO we can't flip a Mamba in the same way? I hope! LOL [where is it]
The Clipper has very good pitch, the Mamba does not.
Please do tell me where the Clipper isn't 2.37% of reported statistics within Inara alone....
https://inara.cz/galaxy-statistics/
Yeah... it's a bit more useful than "Steam" stats.... but the reality is that the Clipper really is a "niche" vessel at this point.
It needs some TLC from Frontier. And for those clamoring they absolutely LOVE the Clipper and fly it already... what do they have to LOSE from Frontier giving it TLC?
Yeah. Thought so.
*sighs*
The Clipper needing some love and the Clipper being obsolete are two different things.
The Clipper needs the same treatment that the DBX received - a few minor tweaks to balance it relative to the rest of the ships in the game.
If credits mean nothing when comparing whether or not a ship is good for its intended role, then every single ship other than the Cutter, Conda, Python, Krait MkII, FDL, Chieftain and Challenger are all substandard.Lemme know when you're done "sighing" and agree the Clipper is substandard at best in relative terms to what can be accomplished with another ship that exists in the game.
Again, credit comparisons mean NOTHING in relative terms of insurance payouts.
