Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Well, it wasn't that extraordinary but I didn't want to splurge a spoiler for those yet to experience the horror, the cold sweat, the worry of a rebuy, the wondering of how in the name of Elvira's girdle am I I going to get out of this...

Ok, now I've overown it. It was my first and only hyperdiction :D

The last time I got hyperdicted was back in the 19xxs.

Yeah. My I remember my first hyperdiction. It is... quite an experience.[yesnod]

I feel that they have dialled-back on the LFE audio though - my last one didn't shake the apartment at all.

Perhaps it's time to add that second sub and some upfiring Atmos 'speakers - unless you have the ceiling room in which case they'll downfire :D

A question, CMDRs: my Krait now has a G3 (engine focused) 7D PD. I had the mats so just grabbed that and stripped it down for the experimental. Given I'm unlikely to do combat in this ship (I'm working my Vulture up to that and this Krait is completely unarmed), I can't justify laying out the 8m for the 7A version. Or can I? Would you just go for G5-ing the 7D or grab the 7A and G5 that instead?

If you're not using weapons, 7A PD is total overkill and unnecessary weight to drag around. The only thing you need of PD in an exploration/trading ship is to be able to support boost and recharge the ENG capacitor reasonably quickly. And that can be done with engineering. You could easily use 6D or even 5D distributor and be completely fine while gaining extra lightyear or two of jump range.

Agreed, the Krait is very easy on the PD for boosting too.
I'd suggest the 5D, and you can mod it engine focused w/stripped down for a little better performance.
You can even run some combat loadouts with a 6A.

My alt is now flying a Krait MkII and has Farseer, Martuuk, Qwent, Palin, Ryder, Dweller and Tani unlocked.
Lei Chung, Nemo and "Blaster" will be unlocked today.

Then it's time to get the Alioth permit in anticipation of some mining for Selene and Bill.
I haven't decided if I should put it off for the update, or just do it with the old stuff and check the new stuff out at my leisure on my main account.

Oh man, the dude's totally fallen out with me!
Not my fault man, there was like, something wrong with the SRV steering.[where is it]

I decided to bash out some fed missions as I was about 50% through rear admiral. I thought "I'm nearly an admiral! How cool is that!?". Got 100%, did the mission... Vice Admiral. Can you hear the gnashing of teeth? VICE! Shoulda looked it up - don't have the strength to grind anymore. I'm going bank to Dianguandri with my tail between my legs. /huff

:D

Well I'll tell ya what I'm up to... There I was landed on a nice icy body planet with a butt load of rocks all around me. I could see em out the window. So I'm looking everywhere trying to figure how how in the heck do I get that SRV out of the belly of the beast... Nope, it wasn't happening for me. So, frustrated because I just assumed it would be something simple I didn't even check the how to do it manual. I uttered a bunch of colorful metaphors and took off back to home port with no rocks. I've since looked it up and there it was, simple as making a ketchup sandwich. I gotta look at the down panel instead of the left or right or comm or all the other panels I have that I looked at but NOOOO not that one. When I launch the SRV does it shut the ship engines down or do I have to do that manually. I'm gonna be smart this time and ask questions.. hahaha

Haha, nope just deploy the srv.
Take some time to check your bindings.
Learn to fly that thing asap!

That was the mission.. take it out and see if the bindings I have set for it will work correctly. Then I was gonna go rock chipping if everything checked out. My collection of materials was stymied by my lack of understanding the simple things in ED life. I'll get em tomorrow....

If you haven't gotten around to driving the SRV yet, you are in for a treat :)

Take it steady to start with to get the feel of it, but once you have, it is possible to have some seriously good fun flying / driving and getting up to all sorts of stunts. It is quite the high performance vehicle, and capable of being handled firmly.

I enjoy doing J-turns and watching the dust motes fly :)

For the SRV nip back to the training as the control bindings can take a lot of work to get comfortable and some essentials are not bound by default.
