How long would a ship need to remain persistent to prevent a menu log from being abused?

I've read the thread and still don't see what the consequential loss is - if someone leaves an engagement, feel free to highlight it to me though...

Sorry but i m not your secretary. If it is true that you have read the thread and you missed it, then you probably dont want to accept that there is more to it.
I suggest you read again.

This is an entire different topic. Stop trying to derail the discussion. Thats a very nasty habbit you got there.

That's twice you've gone offtopic and got all sniffy about me replying to your post. I'm going to give you a tip, if offtopic stuff hurts your feelings don't go offtopic.

Whatever you do don't go offtopic then get all pretend moderator at the replies being offtopic, its funny but it just doesn't work.

If i have gone off topic then i apologize. But your habit still stands, you do it in so many threads. I have seen where this is leading with your posts.
If the OP or a mod thinks i have derailed the thread with off topic posts then i ll stop talking right here.

What the heck? Of course that is 'fair and right'. In Open everyone can be attacked by everyone else, that is the very concept of Open.

See, that's circular logic. "it's that way because that's the way it is".

The post I quoted was a plea to what's "fair and right" and NOT what the game actually is or isn't.

In any case, exactly the same thing applies; it's that way because the game was designed that way.
That applies to whether or not people get attacked in Open and whether people menu-log.

Personally, I'm fine with both.
If somebody's either for both or opposed to both then that's fine by me too.

If, OTOH, you're for one thing on the basis that it's "fair and right" while being opposed to the other thing on the basis that "That's the way the game's designed" then you probably need to do something about the cognitive dissonance you have going on.

Ah, so you are replying to the poster not the post. Glad we cleared that up.

You obviously haven't thought this through, people who don't like the very idea of open are very unlikely to be in open in the first place.

Or they are in Open, reserve the right to cheat and demand the game is changed at its core to suit their wishes.

Except that nobody is suggesting that the consequence should be shifted onto the other player (that the remaining player's ship should get blown up instead). An end to the combat mitigates the consequences for both participants.

Of course, there's another "fair" alternative: as nobody knows who would have won if RL had not intervened, auto-destruct both participants. I imagine this would be controversial.

It is fair. And it would lead to such tearing of hair and gnashing of teeth and probable rage quits it would be worth selling tickets to.

Imagine the anti-ganker in his bait ship "Welcome to my Hook" a fully equipped stater sidewinder. He gets interdicted then disconnects "Blammooo" all parties involved to the rebuy screen.
The salt would be epic in its proportions, it would make my day at least for a while.

Just 'cos somebody makes a point that you haven't thought about, it doesn't mean it's off-topic.
What exactly do you want to know about the subject he raised? Ask spesifics, and i ll surprise you with my answer and you will see that i know those stuff way better than you.

In my last post yes i was replying to you since you made it personal. Whats the problem?

Awhatnow?

Menu logging is "cheating"?

And who's asking for the game to be "changed at its core to suit their wishes"?

Seems like the only people doing that around here are people moaning about menu-logging and demanding players get punished for doing it.

That already happened a few pages back and your response was to say you were only interested in PvP and nothing else.

But you quoted my response to him and you told me "Just 'cos somebody makes a point that you haven't thought about, it doesn't mean it's off-topic."
And i tell you to ask me whatever you want, you told me the above.
You posted only to take his side?

Menu logging is simply not cheating. The game mechanics has that feature built right in...

As far as I can see one of the core tenets of the game is an individual player can decide what environment they most enjoy. See the 3 matchmaking modes that have been part of the game's design from the beginning for reference.

Says the guy who responded to one of my post to somebody else just to say "HE hasnt thought this through?? Lol." without actually bothering to address any of the actual points I raised in that post.

As Stigbob already noted, you seem to have a habit of acting in various ways and then bleating when anybody acts in a way that you don't approve of.

Whatev's.

The point of my post was simply to remind people that a post isn't necessarily off-topic just because it raises a point you haven't thought of, or care about.
