OP doesn't specify if by ED universe he means:
a) ED universe strictly expressed by the program code of current version of the game and nothing else (imagine playing current ED using hypothetical perfect godlike VR equipment)
b) a + whatever one imagine is going on on places, we don't have access to in current game, but is depicted (inhabited planets, certain parts of stations...)
If a is the case - of course not, I would rather watch washing machine rotating 24/7
If b is the case - of course yes, since my 'whatever one imagine...' would be exactly what it takes, for me, to have a perfect paradise like world

I reject the many worlds interpretation. I believe I'm a free agent who makes choices. I choose to do help someone versus hurt someone. In the many world's view, there is one version of me who chooses to help and another one who chooses to hurt. My existence is a random series of events. There is a serial killer version of me and the only difference between me and him is chance.

Regarding the OP, if the universe was a lifeless as ED is right now, I would just stay home rather than visit a bunch of rock planets. I wish there was more to discover like alien plants, animals and civilizations. Even different human cultures like how Martians and Belters are different in The Expanse.
I would love to live in the Star Trek universe. That's a universe worth selling your soul for.

While Elite has a dystopian society I would still say yes. Live my life as a miner or explorer, can't go wrong with that.

The whole society seems pretty horrible actually, most are living on space station slums and constantly suffering famine or disease outbreaks. Most of the government's are nasty dictatorships or communists or will enslave you.
Really our CMDR is already one of society's top 0.0000001% at the point they spawn in their Sidewinder with qualifications to pilot. The "Elite" part really already applies to our CMDR at that point.
So sure if it was gauranteed we would have that good fortune to have that silver spoon elite opportunity.
Not be born into regular oppressed society in a Borg cube which would be very hard to ever climb out of.

Nope, gaming worlds are arranged to give you something to do as a gamer, frequently by causing huge disasters and irreparable enmities for the folks that inhabit those worlds.
Fallout isn't about the wonderful world of non-transistor technology, it's about surviving in a post-atomic-war irradiated wasteland full of giant hornets and murderers. 40K is arranged to ensure that even Imperial forces have reasons to light each other up (destroying literally every living thing in an entire star system is something the "goodguys" do, because the alternative is even worse >__> ). Great gaming worlds for sure; places to even vacation in from this IRL, not even close.

For those who are avid sci-fi readers or have at least read a smattering, I would think ED has plenty of positives in comparison to many sci-fi worlds. Just looking at the positives outside of the dangerous aspects of ED, it has plenty of signs of a somewhat prosperous and burgeoning galactic civilization like Asimov's galactic empire before the fall. Not as far dystopian and universally oppressed in sci-fi worlds such as Dune,Berserker, Riverworld, etc. wasted galactic civilizations. In ED there is plenty of freedom in space travel, lots of citizens can ride in belugas and see tourist spots. Logistically, interstellar travel in ED via the insta FSD is just incredible for travel, transport, and interstellar commerce along with practically free energy, advanced medical and longevity science (limbs can be regrown) and far outpaces many sci-fi worlds in novels and media.
You know what....im pretty sure most of the replies on here are because people are just reading the title and then replying.
I will state again......im not saying living in a univers exactly like ED where you are stuck in a chair, not able to walk, eat and etc with all the limitations of what ED has. Im talking about the ED universe where you have the opportunity to have a ship and visit other star systems, other planets etc.
come on people open your minds and think about it before you start saying things like "being killed for illegally parking" or "being stuck in a seat and not landing on ELW" thats a game limitation not a real life limitation.
take away the "Game" and live in the ED universe. Now thats the question....

This is the ED forums mate, lower your expectations. The primary reason most topics go around in circles.. You could post the exact answer to something, followed by people debating absolute nonsense for a few hours, mildly amusing at best.
Authorities would kill you, your innocent passengers and their dogs just for having a criminal on board. The world is just too gamey and whacky to even remotely consider it as a world to live in.
