Very disappointed about no Mamba or Phantom Black skins today :(

I told you they wouldn't - no matter how much support you managed to drum up.

The simple fact of the matter is that they would generate less revenue by releasing those skins during this sale.

They are highly unlikely to show up at Christmas either - the Dolphin (which was forgotten about in that cycle, if you remember), did not show up at Christmas.

I'd thought it was interesting in a recent FD post they mentioned the mamba as being a "hot rod" ship. Maybe they be could planning to come out with a "hot rod car" color pack for the mamba which may include "pontiac red, corvette black, celica white" etc.

Actually Corvette "Jetstream" blue would be awesome!

Much to do about nothing.
Are you really upset because you don't get to have a certain skin for a certain ship in a certain game?
It is hard to believe.

This one has not even made it on my list of 33 billion 355 thousand and 532 extremely unimportant things.

I'm bothered that I have to wait a year, yes. Is that so surprising to you? My whole fleet is black. I have bought (and again this year) every other black skin. They could easily have just done us the favor, and then this thread would have been 'fdev I love you, thank you so much', which I admit would be equally unbalanced, but surely preferable? Come on man don't make out like I'm crazy, most triple A games are forgotten in a year, yet we have to wait that long for A SKIN? I even asked nicely and so did many other people.

Sell the Phantom/Mamba skins as pre-orders.

Done.

Genius. :)

Because they are not technically even released yet. In my opinion, I don't mind having to wait until next year for that

Seeing as FDev have never made paintjobs purchaseable before the respective ships are on the live servers, my guess is they'll be available during the annual Xmas special-cosmetics sale event

I don't think that would be 'traditional' if I'm honest, but one lives in hope. :)

Not to be facetious, but Star Citizen is game that'll sell you cosmetics for unreleased content. Could be a policy stance with FDev or they've just got a release queue that's planned well in advance.

Not at all the same, already addressed that earlier, and in the thread I made a month ago, linked in the op. I'm not saying I expected you to have read them, just that the evidence is there that this was already well considered.

Yeh, you called it. Grats I guess.

Heh, there are no cheers coming from this section - I would like to have had them as well, I just know better. That said, I would, without hesitation, pay $50-$100 right now to get a black skin immediately available for every new ship/SRV/SLF they create in the future.

I think pushing for something like that might have a reasonable chance of success.

Agreed. Picking and choosing is for the weak. MOAR MIDNIYGHT!!

Seriously, i’d buy this. Similarly if there was a Qohen Leth pack for $50-$100 i’d be on that like a fox on a limping chicken...

Or maybe 3.3 final comes out next week, so within the midnight black sales window and then we get them ? Remember how they said on this week's stream that they're going to rebalance the Mamba's flight model to be closer to beta 3 again but might not have enough time to do that on time for release ? That doesn't sound like the release is far off next month.

I agree. What's that got to do with the topic? :)

It has to do in the sense that it is an extra. Says so in the page too, game extras. All these arguments of "they would make more money why they do not do it?" and complaints about the paintjobs are like saying that there are not enough bubbles in your cappuccino.

Also as others said, FD needs content bits to release regularly to keep people playing in an age where said heavy consumers blackmail developers self entitling themselves to change the game as they please.

Yeh, I'm still not seeing how what you're saying has anything to do with whether or not they release a skin a month early so we don't have to wait a year for it. I asked, I made a thread, it was supported, time passed, it didn't happen, I'm expressing my disappointment. I don't disagree generally witht eh way that FD handles paint jobs and that type of revenue stream. I just think this is unnecessary given the fact that a year is a very long time to wait. I'm a patient man, I have kids, but there's bounds of reasonableness. A year for a skin? Yeh, it's justifiable under the model, is it the best thing to do though? Liek I said, this could have been a huge thank you thread. Opportunity missed, imo, that's all.

I understand your disappointment because all of us would have loved a black mamba :D

But FD does not owe you anything, even if you post a request one month early, that was my point.

I see your point now, but I didn't feel it was owed to me at any point, it was a genuine heartfelt plea that just fell on deaf ears...sigh. lol :) o7

I most likely would have picked them up if they did have them, but also remember the S they took when the Crusader kit and paints came out before the ship itself did. Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

I imagine they are making sure the paints will work on the new models. They don't want a repeat of the last issues with the chieftain quasiclones.

I personally find the mamba model to be enormous for a medium ship. The dang thing looks as wide as a clipper. It's certainly larger than a python or krait with their huge cargo capacities. I know it's too late to scale the outriggers, but they look cartoonish to me.
