Not to sound ungrateful, but no love for LEP?

The gambling analogy always makes me laugh, sure it's true in respect to there being a level of risk. But if it's gambling then it's Frontier that won the bet and it's LEP owners that lost. Here Frontier were holding all the cards.

Usually with something like an expansion pass both parties get what they want and it doesn't really turn into a winner/loser thing.

You don't know if, how much or when you'll get stuff so gamble is definitely the right word for an LEP. Don't crowbar betting or cheating into though that's taking the wrong meaning of the word.

if I were Frontier I would do a lessons learned-session with the Management Team, abandon Elite Dangerous, move 80 % of the Team to Elite Deadly (or whatever it will be called) and do it right. Without leaving a totally frustrated community and without further damaging of the Reputation.
Please don't take offense, but I'm glad you're not Frontier. I agree that some parts don't work as well as they could, but the game as a whole works very well. Not only that, but with certain gameplay areas still intended to be added at some point (atmospherics, space legs, ...) it would not sit well with most players if Frontier abandoned it just to add these things to a completely new game.

Totally wrong. Seasons weren't even a thing when the LEP was created. It was expansions, yet despite FD's trickery LEP guys still got Seasons free. I guess FD need to go back to rip-off school. I hear there's a master class in LA somewhere.

When Frontier sold the LEP seasons weren't a thing. The LEP simply said owners would be entitled to all 'expansions', which they still are.
The Horizons and beyond seasons were expansions, and whatever new features and content Frontier sells in the future, whatever the monetization model, will be equally covered.

Nothing has changed.

That's only true for the LEP offered during the backer period. When I bought mine, the season model was already in use. This was when Horizons was close to launch, and it was stated seasons would last about a year (which Horizons lasted 2), and that atmo landings, and space legs were stated as other large planned updates at that time.

I'm personally not bitter atm, but I probably will be if things other big promised updates like space legs/atmo landings never materialise. They were, after all, stated as planned updates at that time.

However, I have two RL friends who also bought the LEP at the same time, and neither of those have played in over two years now. One certainly is bitter about it, but the other has more money than sense and likely couldn't care less.

As things stand, I'm not bothered whether we get any free store stuff this year or not, as long as those future updates turn up. Even if they end up being cheaper (or even unpaid updates) I'd still consider my money well spent as helping with the development.

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
How do you tag threads you didn't start?

And why would you put such mean tags to someones honest question, some real fine folk round here.

The tags have been removed as they were basically trolling.

Don't abuse the thread tagging, peeps, or it'll go the way of the dodo.

I paid a ridiculous amount of money for a product that didn't even exist yet just to get alpha access if it ever came to pass and I regret nothing.

Nothing.

Witness Me!
Alternatively, I've spent more money and less time on beer in the intervening years so it was probably money well spent in retrospect.

I don't think so, I thought that we were told that the delayed content from the Beyond update, would be free in 2019

And who told you that? The same people who said premium content would be coming in 2018? Yeah, thought so. As an aside, I'm sure that stuff will be free.

Back to the endless (dare I say mobius-like loop) of the topic... [SMUG] I purchased my LEP back in original beta for £35 so I think I've already seen my money back by simply getting Horizons. [/SMUG] So, any further premium content that I'll get for free will be 'jam'.

However FDev's handling of 2018 premium content has been clumsy at best, and pretty shoddy at worst. Remember that it took numerous threads on the topic through the year (I know, I started one of them, and none of them ended well) before they finally confessed that they had no premium content for 2018 - finally saying such around ten months after stating that premium content was coming in 2018. They've now followed this up by allowing another thread-naught to set sail without (yet again) jumping in to update the LEP holders what 'free frippery' they might get. A simple 'we haven't forgotten' might be nice... Or even anything other than, yet again, nothing - even though they must know this is a 'warm' topic - contrast how quickly the FDev posters arrived in the 'Sandy's gone thread'...

I dunno, maybe they should consider having a newsletter........

Bit off-topic, but I don't suppose you recall where this came from because I don't recall such a commitment, just the statement that they were re-prioritising carrier content?
