Not to sound ungrateful, but no love for LEP?

You have to literally fight on the forums just to get an update.

Frontier never ever come forward and provide an update "because it's the right thing to do".

All communications proudly state how "it's all free", with absolutely no nod or thought to people who paid upfront.

Assurances were made that it would be delivered 2018, after having to ask over and over for an update towards the end of 2018 it turns out they were never working on it.

If people wouldn't act like it's the end of the world when they change plans they probably would community more.

No because the restaurant have already factored the cost to them of the espresso into the price they have charged you for the meal. Then they give it to you at the end of the meal without a separate charge on the bill so it looks like they're doing you a favour.

No because the company have already factored the cost of shipping at their lowest rate into the price they charged you for the item. Then they call it 'free shipping' to make it look like they're doing you a favour.

Not making any wider point here or getting into the interminable LEP fair/unfair debate (I don't have an LEP, I would have bought one if they'd been on sale when I got the game, I don't have a dog in this fight) but the above are the absolute basics of retail 'offers'.

That doesn't stop the espresso from being free though.

"Given or available without charge.
‘free health care’"

From the Oxford Dictionary.

It's actually a good example because I paid for it by paying taxes. I also don't get it without being a resident. It's still free health care.

I get it, Frontier ignoring the LEP is the fault of the players.

That tired old fallback forum meme. Frontier can do no wrong, in one way or another it always comes down to the player being at fault. [rolleyes]

That's neither what I said nor what I implied.

Anyway, as pointed out several times they aren't ignoring the LEP.

To me free means you don't have to pay to get the goods/service. If you have to pay for something else to get the goods/service, then it's conditional on you paying and is therefore not free.

As the BBC would say 'other interpretations are available' :)

I was really angry about that at the time. Most of that anger was because they must have know for a long time before announcing it as they hadn’t even started it or it seems even planned anything.

If they’d said something much earlier I’d have been less bothered

This is a key point I think. Regular & frequent information on the current state of progress helps people to feel like valued customers.

We are currently waiting for a couple of deadlines to pass, I am not chasing up info on future content until then (others are welcome to follow their own paths of course).

We have been told not to expect any info on post-3.3 development until after 3.3 has been released, which is expected to be before the end of the year.

We have been told LEP owners can expect to receive some sort of store credit by way of compensation & apology before the end of 2018 - an acknowledgement that there has been a significant delay in the development and release of a second premium DLC package and any subsequent ones.

So personally I don't feel any need to chase up info on future content until January 2019, and while more info on the store credit thing would be nice, I don't expect there to be any lead time so as long as news is announced before Christmas say, I'm still happy.

The OP's question is a reasonable one (should I buy this time-limited skin now or wait because I might get it free with my LEP) that should be easy for FDev to answer :)

So old its moldy

Whilst i am a LEPper my disappointment has nothing to do with value or not out of my pass, and i certainly absolutely do not want any more unique in game equipment (imo the cobra IV was a massive misstep all it needed was "limited" exclusivity for instance, that 1 word changes everything)

I am just itching to see evidence of this 100 (wo)man full time team and i want to be playing the game I was fantasising about in the DDF days. I enjoy what we have.... but it is just after 4 years i want more of it ;)

3.3 is a good step forward... but had you of told me in summer of 2014 that this is the game we would have now 4 years after launch I would have not believed you...... I would have confidently stated we would definitely have had at least 1 more, possibly 2 more paid expansions by now.

I’m happy to wait for news on the future as well. But as you say, Itshould be easy for them to answer the question about the store content.

I'd say 3.3 is very much evidence that they have 100 people working on the game. This update is huge and for me it adds more than all previous updates combined. If you consider that they went into full production of the next major expansion a few months ago with a big part of the team working on new content I'd say it looks like a lot of people worked really hard to make Beyond.

I’m happy to wait for news on the future as well. But as you say, Itshould be easy for them to answer the question about the store content.

Since I didn't mention it yet, I do agree that all Midnight Paintjobs should be available to LEP owners, although I personally don't have much use for them.

Yes! Make the latecomers pay! lepers demand the serfs pay while we do not!

And more of that sort of thing ;) Typically of these threads the OP wanders past, lobs a (presumably unintended) bomb in the forums and wanders off idly whistling to themselves. Then the usual suspects (myself included!) repeat our usual posts until it is closed.

OT: Can someone please post a new doom thread? We haven't had a good one since the beta started, and I feel we may be getting rusty - why not something about SC and X4 having space legs and why doesn't ED - that should do it - thx! :D

Most of the usual suspects currently avoid the forums since they can't handle all the positivity and people being happy about the state of the game.

PS
Just look at the recent steam reviews, currently at 91% positive. I am sure that gave someone a heart attack.

I share your view but it's not a big deal for me, just another minor disappointment from my own misunderstanding of what the Black Friday pack was (I thought it was for all ships - clearly it was all ships up to a certain point).

However in my post that you quoted I didn't intend to make that connection. At this stage we don't know what Zac intends, and I suppose the best case scenario is unlimited access to all cosmetics, which may include access to time-limited stuff like Black Friday skins for Horizons pre-order customers. It's possible, and FDev could provide us with a scope that eliminates that possibility. I'm sure plenty here would say 'well that's not going to happen', so there should be no reason for Fdev not to say it either.

Just brainstorming.
