Poor man's VR. Anyone else out there?

I've just ordered the ED Tracker Pro (not the wireless one) on the strength of this thread so if it turns out to be a pile of pants then I HATE YOU ALL!

Otherwis, Merry Christmas Everyone!
I don't think you will be disappointed. i wasn't sure either so I went for the £10 DIY kit, but it was easy enough to set up and worked a treat. Works best if you have a big monitor and sit close to it (I used a 48" TV sat on my desk :D ). I've moved on to full VR now (Rift), but I loved the ED Tracker.

I'm going to buy an EDtracker pro in a few days, hopefully.

I'm right in thinking I have to Velcro the unit to my headset or hat?

You will have to attach it in some way. I tied it to the top of my headphones with string :)

I’ve used the wired version of the EDTracker for around ten months now, playing for eleven, and have to say it’s superb. For £20-30 you simply can’t go wrong and does bring the game alive in a way that I assume only VR can beat.

I’m now ready to buy into VR and am deciding which headset to go for. As I only tend to play ED and Project Cars 2 I’m swaying towards the original Odyssey (second hand now I suppose) as I don’t mind the SDE compared to what I’ve seen of the Odyssey+....I’ve been a photographer for 25 years and it just reminds me of higher ISO film with a bit of grain so no problem for me. I’d give the Explorer a go but with an IPD of nearly 70 it’s not a viable option it would seem.

Whatever happens I’ll be keeping my EDTracker as a backup.

So I got the ED Tracker and it was fairly simple to set up and get working to my satisfaction. Definitely a nice addition to the kit.

Aye, received mine yesterday, and it's great!

All I wanted to be able to do was control the camera with my head, and I can now do just that!

UI is super-simple too.
