Not reasonable: Ships will be destroyed when landing on wrong platform

You're also not really a customer of Farseer Inc - you don't pay for engineering. You're just some random person she sort of knows who she does free work for.

And if you were bestest buds with Felicity, it isn't Felicity herself running Air Traffic Control. Your actual complaint is with some middle manager, or even some desk-jockey who was having a really crappy day and undoubtedly thought "how's THIS for customer service?" while angrily mashing the "Launch Missiles" button. :)

There's this big blue sign on your hud telling you which landing pad to land on. Guy in the stations reminds you "Check your bay number, Check again"
Mistakes happen but yes you should get blown up. It might be allocated to a real player coming in.

I agree with you, OP. This is a game where loitering is punishable by death, but murdering other people is easily covered by using "anonymous protocols". It just goes to show how weird the British are (too much mercury-tainted fish in their diets) :p

LOL! I just love the hard-liners here. "That's the game! Get used to it!"

Seriously, though, even in accepting the Death by Loitering aspect of the game. 30 seconds? Really? Why not a minute? or two? Give the player a chance to work it out. Or is the demand for docking bays so high we need a zero-tolerance policy for loitering?

Sometimes, Elite's internal logic is astounding. ;)

And be sure to expect FD to pin your mittens to your jacket as well. It's getting cold, this time of year. (Northern Hemisphere that is.)

Imagine a group of 5 idiots decide to ruin your day and constantly block all pads which makes the game unplayable for you. You could over complicate the system by destroying them only after they got 5 fines but they just continue by clearing their savegames and continue to annoy you with their Sidewinders. Next would be a system that automatically bans accounts for annoying people which opens up a whole lot of new problems and make things even more complicated. Or you could just follow the games rules and land on the correct pad.

Or, given your scenario, you could relog in solo and just dock.

I would say to look at how much time you have to find your pad, line up, and safely set down before responding. To save you some time, I'll tell you it's more than 10 times the 30 seconds you mention.

Riôt

I've always found if it warns me of pad loitering then I have time to move away, and if I forget to ask for landing permission then I have time to get back out before being fired upon.

Of course, if when you see the warning you decide rather than moving to instead write a strongly worded post to Fdev about how unreasonable they are being ... then that is your choice .... ;)

Except that the OP didn't just loiter over a nearby pad - it was at an engineer's base, the pads are far apart - they just tried land on the wrong pad.

You need to "git gud" at reading what you are defending. ;) (only teasing, sorry)
