News Beyond - Chapter Four - Release Date Announcement

As can be said abouf pretty much anything.....in pretty much any game :p. I do hope they took on some of the feedback, though, re: Max Travel Speed whilst in FSS mode, amount of FSS info previewed after the Honk & leaving the tuner where the Commander last left it.

Indeed.
However, I find myself a little perplexed that the very thing that I was looking forward to the most in Beyond - a revamp of exploration - is in fact the the very thing that has finally killed off any real urge to play the game.

As with so many things in ED, it would only take a relatively minor design change to turn that around.

Sigh....Once again very little time from end of beta to release date of update. Will mean many of the unique not already addressed issues in the two thousand three hundred and eighty beta bug reports will have very little time to be fixed or worked on. Had really hoped Frontier would have delayed the update to fix more of the serious issues found during the beta out of the numerous issues found. Instead for instance, we get told "we known about the migraine issue but don't have any info on a fix for it" which will make parts of the game unplayable for many. I've been loving this game since I got it at v1.2.6 and I'm getting tired of the increasing tendency to rush out a big update after a beta without fixing much. We didn't even get a known issues list update for beta week 4 or week 5, just for weeks 1 through 3. Or for that matter, patch notes for beta week 5 which was to focus on the background simulation.

Please Frontier, do better with fixing bugs before release and less of a patch it after post mentality. And please do better with communication to the community.

Shockingly poor trailer, hardly showing the hard work!! gone into the Q4. So question?? why show so much mamba and even flying through the new space clouds as they are so far away, and with the mambas terrible jump range!!!! is this just dev magic, being introduced here? if so not a clever move frontier. There was hardly anything else shown that the new chapter is all about. Not impressed.!

Also with 76 plus pages of bug fixes I am expecting a very very long bug fix change log guys...! I hope to god you are not ignoring the shire volume of fixes that need addressing.

Couldn't agree more. Rep1 (the game needs more bugs fixes now than in the last two years, there are pages of pages in just beta alone.

True, the devs need to start bulk sorting bug fixes and issues in game before thinking of ANYTHING else, 2019 total bug fix year, I would sooner play a fixed immersive game than trickle along with half worked finish game. The bug list is growing out of all proportion.

Me, who usually love the Frontier trailers, I found this one not really spectacular.

Will not stay unforgettable ...

:(

Lazy rushed attempt trailer I thought no thought or effort is being spent on the game these days, i've all but given up on it.

I think we should now expect from fdev that when they talk about beta it's really pretty much a release.

I having a bitt of an issue finding the info on faction states reset that will happen once the chapter 3 goes live on the 11th. It was talked about on the live-stream this morning with Ed and Will and Paige even talked about it in chat. Thanks in advance for pointing out where it is or how i am missing it. Maybe the info isnt even posted yet is my thought after looking for the last hour on here.

Meanwhile, the changes in Q4 have actually got me wanting to explore more than at any point in the last 3 years......so Swings & Roundabouts I guess. Not saying the mechanic in Beta was perfect, but a few minor tweaks would make it pretty darned close.

Yeah, that's why they extended the beta, so it would still be running when X4 launched - lol.

Best try and wrap that tinfoil around your head a bit more tightly, I think the alien signals are still getting through...

Companies making adjustments based on competitive threat, or non-threat when major blunders are made by rivals are just fact of life. Your LoL just indicates your level of job experience.

If you think execs at FD aren't closely watching how Egosoft releases and handles whatever launch issues arise, and has that affect how FD itself positions their own launch of major update is a level of naivety that deserves it's own LoL....

They're obviously watching and aware, but are very unlikely in this case to have changed their schedule based on X4's *post-release* results.

Based on the originally announced Beta schedule, 11 Dec was also the most plausible release date: 2 weeks after the *original* end of Beta to finalise and push updates to consoles matches their release pattern for 2.4 and 3.0.

They did extend Beta a week, but with no new client patch in the fifth week that won't have delayed console build approval.

Given that they'd announced back in 2017 that it would be a Q4 release, it was only ever going to be today, the 11th or the 18th if they released on time. The 18th would be way too close to Christmas to get hotfixes out if any were needed, while today would have required a week less on the Beta to get the console builds made. So I'm pretty sure the 11th was *always* the planned date and only a major disaster in Beta would have shifted it.

My client even sometimes forgot that I already got the instructions multiple times. Which can be quite nasty while your fuel scoop is loading, as there's no exit button for these instructions (you have to click them all through). Am I the only one to whom this happened?
We had a bug report for this and managed to figure it out. Support were very helpful on it.

It saves the "has seen FSS tutorial" flag to a local file rather than to your server-side save game.

The live game also saves its own state data to that file - there isn't a separate one for Beta.

During Beta, the live game doesn't know about that flag, so if you switched between Beta and Live, every time you opened Live it killed the tutorial flag, and then every time you opened Beta after opening Live you got the tutorial again. (Which is why it happened to some people a lot more than to others)

So the fix for this bug is to release 3.3 so that Live also knows about the flag.
