You are not getting the 500 atoms as an apology. In the quartering video I linked, Jeremy makes a great point - if you accept the 500 atoms, you are effectively giving up your right for a refund or any kind of action against Bethesda. They are just covering their backs from the law standpoint, not apologizing or compensating.
Yes, I've since read that too. Although on of those IANAL folks have also pointed out that it shouldn't apply to digital goods and may not make a difference anyway but I can see how Bethesda's lawyers, who are way more talented than their games designers it seems, may have pushed that as a get out.
I think I'm done with Bethesda if I'm honest. I don't really like their engine, which they should have ditched/upgraded years ago, then I hear their next two games will be using it and now this deceit towards people that cared enough about their franchise and company to spend $200 on what I consider pointless fluff.....it's over.
If I were Todd, and this is assuming he didn't already know, and I heard that some of my most
gullible loyal fans had stumped up $200 on one of our biggest special editions I would make it a personal goal to make it right for those people.
I don't know how many 1000's of people bought those bags but how expensive could the prototype really have been? Take a look at the following:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Vintage-Mi...543837883&sr=8-9&keywords=canvas+military+bag
£26, and yes I know its not like for like and wouldn't take a T51b helmet etc. etc. but if the price had been really expensive for them its because the people making it for them smelled money! No way should it cost more just because its made of canvas. Bethesda could have afforded it but chose to be greedy instead in a clear bait and switch move, and their shame and this PR disaster will haunt them for years to come. And when their new IP comes out I can't wait to see what their special editions will be like, and I hope the buying public that got screwed over don't forget this.
It makes me sick when I see those same old YouTube personalities like AngryJoe bang on about how they were ripped off, misled and so on, and you just know these idiots will pre-order their next efforts the second they are announced. Whether this is because their channel requires this for them to stay relevant, knowing that other channels will go ahead and do it anyway, or he is just a common or garden idiot, I neither know or care. This is what happens when you pre-order and with their move on not putting this on Steam you have next to no chance of getting your money back, which was the last line of defence for those that still advocate pre-order culture.
"Pre-order the game dude, I mean, what do you have to lose?"
My soul....
