Will we ever get an official apology for this disaster of a launch?

Hate the changes, hate the new exploration mechanic, tempted to do a charge back on all my Elite purchases because this isn't the game I originally paid for anymore. Good luck if someone discovers something new on a planet like "D f 9", you don't even know where that is until the whole bloody system is scanned, can't see at a glance anymore. Plus useless interface minigame instead of actual mechanics. Sheep mindlessly going "oh exploration is so fun now" no , no it's not. What's fun? Things for explorers like the Space Jellyfish discovered, or new alien life, or new structures of alien origin, not an eyesore of a minigame making systems a chore to navigate anymore. Can magically punch holes in reality to warp in seconds to a system yet can't just send out a wide omni-directional pulse anymore and get feedback of basic planet types now.

Hate what Elite has become.

I've been thru a lot of major updates in various online programs and NEVER once has it gone warm Jello pudding smooth. I'd say it's virtually impossible to snag every single bug before it is released and imagine the cost of that 20/20 hindsight module if you could. FDev appears to have it under control and is putting out the fires as they spring up... as expected. Probably be a few more in the next week as other issues surface but those will be fixed as well. Have patience...

Agree 100%... I had a update install problem that trashed my game and I posted a bug report and within 5 minutes they posted back and I was able to effect a Windows 10/ED repair and get online....bloody outstanding fire-fighting if you ask me... Thanks FD and support guys'n'gals ..especially QA-Tom...oops naming etc lol

Will we “ever” get an apology.... as if it’s been 3 months of radio silence. Things got messy today man. I’d rather the people at FD spend time fixing the issues rather than spamming excuses/explanations on the forums.

Ha! This launch is smooth as butter compared to the last FFXIV expansion. Players there were unable to continue with the MSQ for DAYS because of server overcrowding.

It was a complete disaster of a launch: For weeks I had been preparing to dash out the moment the update arrived and claim a few first-mapped planet tags, but when I powered up Elite, I discovered that some time in the night my throttle had gone kaput and the computer was no-longer recognizing it!

By the time I got another throttle sorted out, my namesake station was circling a planet tagged with someone else's name!

All that prep work wasted because a silly circuit board couldn't keep itself together for one more day...

Ah well. I got the Squadron name I wanted at least. (I didn't need a functioning throttle for that)

The server stuff though? That's fine. That's to be expected.

So far, we can see that bugs corrected in beta are back in live game, that bug reported in beta and overlook are still in live game. Happiness is not working.
And so on...

It is pathetic. And they seem not ashamed of it.

Oh it would be awesome if the snowflake appeared in everyone's account who complained :D

Almost spat my coffee at this!! Well played!

Pretty much every major MMO game in the last 10 years has issues with each major update... A few hours is not worth worrying your pretty little cotton swabbed heads about... Want a cup of conrete?

Just one of a few you can find in different Threads:
Hi CMDR's

I apologise for the inconvenience this is causing and would like to reiterate CMDR STRONTIUM DOG's points and hopefully, this matter will alleviate as the pressure on the servers slowly releases.

Unfortunately we do not have a specific time frame for this matter as it is due to player usage but we are looking into perfoming a few things our end to help! :)

Problem solved, can this be closed now?

Are you kidding? That’s the dumbest idea ever.

How they did the launch adds into the measure or score of frontier as a developer and shouldn’t be dismissed but they don’t owe us an apology.

Asking for such a thing is the worst thing we could wish for as players because frontier will just know if they do bad things all they will have to do in the future is apologise... no.

I never try playing on release day as i know the servers have a melt down, bit like my wife when i come home drunk :)

Good luck with that chargeback. First you would need to provide supportive evidence for the chargeback to occur in the first place. If you are successful (unlikely), Frontier would note the chargeback (and thus loss of revenue for services rendered) and provide their own evidence to the bank, the successful resolution of which would mean they reclaim that chargeback. After which, they could lay a charge of theft, or chargeback fraud against you.

But, sure.. you do you; see how it works out.

If you don't like the game, fine. Just leave without all the melodrama.

FFXIV is a true MMO though and unlike WoW / Blizzard has devs who actually care (hence the whole Realm Reborn way back when with Bahamut). Elite is a space sim with some mmo elements, FFXIV is a full MMO with MMO elements.
