the FSS, watching paint dry....

Oh, come on.

"Honk makes exploration boring"
They add something more involved.

"This is boring you have too many controls."

Quite frankly if you are confused, it isn't boring, if you think that your definition is plain and simply wrong.

You don't like it? fair enough, but please don't use boring and other things, instead maybe give an example of what you would want it to be instead?

I'm not confused anymore, I even thought I would go a bit further out (5klys) and I still came to the same conclusion, it's still boring me. Which is a shame as I used to like exploring. Now it's lets scroll round the fss until I get lucky and hit something, then after wasting half an hour. I'm thinking shall I go map them now? 20+ probes for one gas giant, nope heading back home.

Incidentally I've had a chest infection for over a week now. Bought some more medicine earlier to try to shift the blighter, took one dose and lost the spoon, so I'm currently drinking Benylin from the bottle. This has nothing to do with the FSS, or my dislike of sprouts, I just thought you might like to take a moment to marvel at my glamorous lifestyle.

For more authenticity I hope you went and found a brown paper bag for the bottle to go in.

You have only one spoon?

Great compromise idea - put mode switch in ship panel, only set at dock.

explore mode = current system

legacy mode = old system and need to give up ADS slot if want the honk, etc...but since exploration proves we can have unlimited planet probes on ship, this mode gives unlimited limpets on ship.

done (except for the angry bee who will now deny others to have things they don’t want)

No, I only have one plastic-exactly-5ml-spoon-that-I-use-for-medicine. Plus I couldn't be bothered going rummaging through the cutlery drawer to find the teaspoon which is closest to the right size because I'm a) lazy and b) dying (dying I tell you!) from man-flu.

I only have one brown paper bag and I need that for my turps.

If you're still going to patronise me by trying to tell me what you think I'll like, read it again. Keep reading it until your eyes are bleeding.

YOU keep reading, dingbat, and you'll see my original "you'll love it post" was not aimed at you, or the forum in general, but a very specific single individual (who was not you).

Now as for your insistence that using the FSS is a food and not a process, unless you are printing out the code and eating the paper it's printing on, that's just a rubbish comparison. Using the FSS is something you do, not something you eat, taste, digest, and poop out like the post I'm replying to.

Fair enough! Hope you're feeling better soon, mate.

I'm sorry, your post just seems to say Elephant Butt Leather over and over again.

But seriously though, what are you saying here? That for some reason you only decided to tell that one individual who doesn't like the FSS all about how he will like it eventually because he's just too thick to know what he likes and what he doesn't, whilst accepting that anybody else who doesn't like it actually has a valid opinion? Because if so well, it seems a bit odd but that's absolutely fine.

Ahhh, yes, a common cause for us to rally against! The enemy of my enemy is my friend :D

Down with Elephant Butt Leather!!! Down with these absolutely horrendous PS2-quality shadows!!!! Down with these "bad Skype connection" planet surfaces!!!!! Down with everything Frontier has done to ruin this once-lovely game on PS4!!!!!!!

And you people think the FSS is bad :p

In that case, perhaps you shouldn't be posting to the "forum in general", but privately to the "very specific single individual."

It would be really great if we could use it while flying and not only at full throttel SC. Then I could actually use it while traveling long distances. But that would be a little bit too convenient for Elite I guess

He might have made a big deal about putting the very specific single individual on ignore six or seven times already and is trying to avoid getting laughed at for doing it yet again.

For one thing only i am 100% sure.. that the fss was an idea of someone or some people that dont explore the way a player does. It is built from people that do this for work.
No way someone of us would come up with a way of searching blue blobs in a view that is clearly a simple mini game.
I completelly resolved like 10 systems by now, that no one has ever been there before, and the amount of times that i had to zoom in and out just to discover all the bodies, was soul crashing. What can i say.. thats the new way of exploration.

Just let us engineer this mess, or create a piggy back module that costs a fortune and bolts on the fss and makes the blobs go away for Christ sake. Do something haalp.

What did you think of jump honk then fly at things for extended periods of time ?.

I never liked the old honk. But you have a problem understanding that is possible for someone to want the best of both worlds. And i never had a problem travelling to planets and make eye contact. Having said that, i dont have a problem with the dss.
Hard for you to accept, i know.

The old honk was boring, but had good features that no one mentions now, because he is automatically targeted by other people.

....the best of both worlds. .

MY version of "the best of both worlds" would be having the spectrograph visible on the main HUD (analysis mode) after a "honk". It's a pain to have to throttle to zero, switch to FSS just to see what's in the system, and then switch out of FSS and throttle up again for the next jump when there's nothing in that system of interest. It's not adding any "magic" to the current discovery implementation, it's just a QoL improvement in the UI.
