the FSS, watching paint dry....

There was quite some controversy about combat ships requiring an FSS module to find things (mission targets).

Before that there was quite some controversy about not seeing the system map in the bubble from players only wanting to do missions and other non-exploration things inside the bubble.

It was bugged. Basically you could still honk and use the FSS without an ADS installed in the beta. It looked to me that it was easier to just remove the ADS and have it as a built in module.

It's still far more entertaining than actually exploring in the game since the update. That's why we're here, even you :D, instead of actually playing.

I'm at work, it's just very quiet. I do enjoy the forum banter though. But no, it isn't as fun as doing exploration in ED though.

I personally think it is too easy. It should show search locations which you need to discover with your ship or the SRV. I wouldn't mind having a wave scanner like the SRV has in the ship to discover these POIs when in a certain range. These would only be for large POI's like fumerol fields or biologicals though and not small rocks. That is what the SRV is for. It would just add to the gameplay loop a bit more and make discovering them a bit more meaningful. Also have it that once you done your composition scan, then you get the pinpoint co-ordinates. It will give more meaning to the composition scanner too.

Yeah, I'm with you on the mapping part, more could have been made of that. IIRC FDev said there was still more to be found but of course the new tools don't help with searching a planet surface if what you are looking for isn't marked with a POI tag so in that respect nothing has changed. In the vid I posted earlier in this thread I didn't even bother to land at the geological POI, I just dropped in, comp scanned it & jumped out again, planet explored.

Or FDev could just respond with a definitive answer and then we can all go on with our lives.

They've said 'NO' by not changing it during initial moans in the beta, they said 'NO' again during the streams when saying they realised a small group would lose out and they have not responded to continued moans in this thread, another 'NO'.

How many more NO's would you like?

I wouldn't call that planet explored myself. I like to see if there are any other interesting geological formations that are not POI's myself, like rift valleys and so on. There are more to planets then POIs.

I would also like to be able to name places on planets that I have discovered, so other people can go an view them, but that may be asking too much. That could be to with being VR though. Some of these places look truely amazing and massive in VR.

Looking forward to when we can land on atmospheric planets and planets with complex life on them.

So what you're saying is that you choose not to fly to places and manually explore them because the information is already present (despite the fact that nothing prevents you from going there and exploring manually). If you enjoyed manual exploration so much, why not keep at it? There's absolutely nothing preventing you from doing so.

... or just put the ADS module back in the game ;)

Then I'll finally be able to move onto establishing why the codex discoveries weren't pre-populated from players save games and why first discovered tags from pre-3.3 were not differentiated from the much cheaper & more easily obtained post 3.3 discovered by tags by renaming all pre-3.3 tags to 'first visited by' ;)

But lets sort this one out first FDev :)

Did you not watch the video? Here you go, make up your own mind:

There was some related discussion about this vid a few days ago in this very thread.

Good, goooood. Let the inane comments flow through you. Your arguments have made you ignorable. This will ensure that everything remains as it is.

I'd say due to the bickering, objectionable content and Godwin, this thread has pretty much run it's course.
