So who precisely of you fine folks had the vision of "improving" the graphics after 4 years?

"Just a personal opinion, blablabla..."

The "opinion" part is whether you like it or not. Some do, some don't.

That the color gradient filter is WRONG is not an opinion. By all means say that you like it anyway, that opinion is perfectly valid, but please don't try to justify your opinion by claiming that the effect is somehow accurate.

So anyone who doesnt agree with you has no common sense and is not intelligent?

Even if I did agree with you (which i dont) now i would never say it..as to do so would be throwing my chips in with, for want of a better expression, an arrogant idiot.

If its working as intended..then its not broken..its a design choice.

Your opinions are not facts. Never were , never will be. And no amount of pompus, ,arrogant drivel on the forums will ever change that.

Thank Christ.

Now dont get me wrong, i literally have no desire to actually get into a conversation with you. Not after your last comment.( i would rather smear human excrement over my face) So if you can avoid responding to me that would be fantastic.

I just wanted to point out the obvious, to make myself feel better and restore some ballance to the univerese.

Actually, Consider yourself blocked.

You Sir, are a joke.

So you are one of the guys whom I'm gonna see in a year or two down the road on America's Most Wanted.

"Calm and nice gent. Greeted the neighbors. No girlfriend. Liked video games. Posted a lot on the internet. Quit school early. No idea why he went boom suddenly. Guess we should have seen it coming all along. I mean that tremble. And the staggering illiteracy."

Those are probably the major points people are complainigng about.

Incidentally, what color would you say does the Milky Way in the background have in this image:

This image pretty much exemplifies my issue with the color grading as it stands. It’s almost a text book case of excess. Colorists spend years learning their craft - it's not an easy thing to do well. More than this, conceptually the idea of using it in a space game which has UI elements generated at the pre-rasterization stage just seems misguided to me. It's better suited to moody first person shooters.

No offence FD, I don’t mean to sound harsh - there's a lot to love in the update as a whole, but this has marred the game for me.

There I have to agree with you: applying post-processing techniques when your UI is 3D-rendered is not easy. If the UI elements were all rendered in post-processing (and able to be exempt from the scene-post-processing) a lot of complaints wouldn't exist.

Yes, that's the core of the issue (with the skybox too). It's unavoidable.

I never once said it was accurate, I said it was working as intended.
People on these forums simply love to twist words to support their own flawed logic..

For example:

You do realise theres no sound in space either? So is the sound also "broken" in Elite?
And dont get me started on velocity...

Fun Fact: Elite Dangerous is actually a Video Game. Theres literally hundreds of things in this game that are not accurate. Why some disgruntled man babies have decided to cling to this one thing is Beyond(TM) me.

Oh sweet mother Venus.

Call on all the Greek Gods you like. Theyre not going to argue your points for you. Youre gonna have to use the ole brain yourself im afraid.
(though Venus was the goddess of love, sex and fertility. So im sure you have your reasons for turning there..personal reasons..erm..thats cool..)

There are also thousandths of bugs in the game, yet i only care about a handful of them. See why this kind of reasoning doesn't work? Also, calling people "disgruntled man babies" might not be the best way to emphasize your argument.

I think its working pretty well to be honest.

Anyhue, im off to play Elite. Have fun argueing amongst yourselfs over colour gradients on a Saturday night.

You are all Heroes in my eyes.

If your aim was to sound slightly miffed then yes, i guess you're right. Don't feel too offended though, i wouldn't want that. Also, i'm sorry for not liking or disliking the same things as you do.

Well isn't this a cosy little thread.

It seem to me, that despite evidence from various sources, and multiple posters sharing the same information, that there just HAS to be a small subset of people who decide to make a specific topic their 'defense of choice'.

I mean, let's go back to the beta discussion regarding the FSS. I am one of those who defended that particular feature, because in MY opinion, it did not break the game, it added depth and flavour to a previously tasteless part of the game, and has been proven over and over again to be just as fast as the old DSS, but with extra goodness for those who are willing to put a little bit of extra time in.

However, there were a small minority who disagreed, saying it made things longer, ruined their specific playstyle and other such criticisms. And while there were one or two who seemed to just be adding their tuppence-worth in for no real reason, most arguments were fairly clear and understandable. So this was a pretty good discussion.

THIS topic however, defies all rational explaination. I'm seeing ridiculous phrases such as 'colour space' and 'calibration', which is utter nonsense. The only arguments in defence of thi new system is that 'it's fine for me', and 'I don't see anything wrong'. These are not actually arguments - these are personal observations which, at the end of the day, have NO IMPACT on anyone else. If you are happy with things, why not just move along, there's really nothing to see here. Why continue to try and argue with people who clearly DO have issues with the new system, and are simply asking for a way to TURN IT OFF - this has NO impact on anyone else who chooses to view the galaxy in whatever hue the nearest star is throwing out.

Arguing about a feature that fundamentally changes the game is a good discussion.
Arguing about a cosmetic feature that could just be a toggle - and does not affect anyone elses gameplay - is just a waste of energy.

You obviously still have quite a lot to learn about human nature, young Padawan.
