So two tedious train journeys plus an on foot transit between them to get to the space port. At last other players 8 of them I think they are calling up a ship to use together, FPS in the 50-60, Ship requested easily, at least in the lift you can hear it working when you press the button.

ATC to open the hanger worked well, but the video of the ATC guys face did not display ( I thought that was going to be fixed) take off was fine went to 10,000. Its night time it looks good no hint of a crash or instability yet.

Lets try a mission

Did two missions in a Mustang, one was pick up a parcel take to somewhere else, It worked well enough but was like ED but with added time spent walking to offices.

Then I went to recover a lost parcel. five other ships at the location and some gunfire. As I was outclassed, so I went stealthy sat off and waited 10 mins until it all calmed down, Then snook in got the parcel before running away. That was a bit more FUN as it was tense.

I just logged out, so two hours, no crashes and no instability FPS was variable but I would say 45-50 was about average it certainly was not a problem. I have previously read about stuttering no sign of that.

It is another improvement in performance, which I think is what they are aiming for in 3.4. Not much else has changed except for NPC's and furniture not popping up constantly and NPC's do not stand on furniture, I did see one in the air 2 mtrs above me. But the cows in fallout do that as well. NPC's need looking at but maybe not a priority for anyone but me.

What about the feeling of flight ?
How do you like the flight model?

I was thinking 3.4 seemed a bit light on new features for a quarterly patch, even by CIG's standards, so I tried to find what the roadmap looked like earlier in the year. I can't find the original jpeg, but this shows that, back in January, ArcCorp (and Area 18) were supposed to be in this release. But hey, they've managed to add one new district to the one city that currently exists.

Neo,
I honestly did not think about it much, but thanks for the prompt, I will give it some thought next time I log on. Anything in particular that you want me to check out?

I use a HOTAS and it felt good when I was flying near the surface of the planet.

In space it feels 2nd nature.

I can only compare it to other games as I am not an aeroplane pilot and only Neil, Yuri, Gus ETC have flown in space. ( I typed that then realised all 3 have passed on)

How did you manage to place a box in a Mustang?

I'm still testing in the PTU...new patch out for that so I'm off 'testing' ;)

Order,Order! The 9th District of Her Majesty's Space Court is in session again!

Mr. d'Orleans you may continue.
Thank you, your honor.
I will continue now.

What if the new director the most honorable Mr. Offner isn't attached to the Cayman Island Investors at all?
What if there is a new investor, unknown to the members of the Space Court by now, who has infused cash solely in the US, a cash infusion which therefore isn't public?
Alternatively, is he an investor himself or he is representing a client? Because you don’t get a seat at that table for no good reason.
The shares sold to the Cayman Island Investors are shares of Foundry 42, which raises the question, what if they US Holding company sold shares too? That does not have to be shown in the next F42 UK's fillings.
Is CR even still holding a majority of shares of the US HQ Clown Imperim Games?
Furthermore, as the cash infusion thru sold shares already happenend in May of 2018 - which gave them money for another 6 month of operations- what is their financial status right now?
Is this the ELE - or the beginning of said ELE - which was mentioned numerous times by the Internetz Wahlord?
How far will the "most faithful" go in their mental gymnastics to explain the unfolding of the recent events?

Mandatory:
I'm Derek!
I'm a dirty goon!
Fudster!
I don't understand game development.
This is good for SC.
FIDELITAAAAH!!

Instructions, testing focus, major known issues.
Alpha Patch 3.4.0i has been released to the PTU, and is now available to test! Patch should now show: PTU-1024456.

It is strongly recommended that players delete their USER folder for the Public client after patching, particularly if you start encountering any odd character graphical issues or crash on loading. The USER folder can be found (in default installations) at C:\Program Files\Roberts Space Industries\StarCitizenPTU\LIVE.

Please monitor ptu test chat in spectrum for updates and testing instructions.

USER.cfg settings:
r_displayinfo = 3

Note: This patch does not contain all of the intended features, which will be added iteratively to the notes as they become available. Additionally, some features may be implemented in a partial state and as such are not ready for testing. When those features reach a playable state they will be detailed on the notes and added to the "Testing Focus".

In addition a cool podcast about female characters was hosted by Twerk17 with one of the prominent female SC players giving her voice and perspective on the situation.

Those helmets look cool graphically :) Are there any first person shots from wearers to show the view degradation? Or is it some kind of cool holo tech that means the wearer sees as if they have a full glass Drager respirator style helmet?

Generally helmets only add slight visor changes to the edges of your view. They don't block your view that much just slightly more depending on the heavier armor you get.

One of the better Calling All Devs episodes with good questions and relatively okay answers.

This week, we talk about GrimHEX hangars, the difference between scanners and radar, sharing missions with friends, and more.

What about the feeling of flight ?
How do you like the flight model?
It's still completely absent. You just move your ship like in a noclip FPS, there's no "model" to speak of. Point at a direction, move there, stop. Space and atmo make no difference at the moment, they are both quite not connected to any kind of reality. Ships have zero weight or almost, they will bounce off the ground like giant beach balloons.. It's a huge turn off for me as i am a flight sim enthusiast, and played KSP with all realism mods on (like FAR for realistic aero). Current model also is uttely boring for ship to ship fight as it's whoever can strafe and change directions the quickest without lagging out that wins... There's no "flight" it's more like "FPS in 3D" if you get what i mean. Some like that, as a flight sim addict i cant enjoy it. (i do like FPS games but in their own context..)

I got used to the flight model way too much. It works better on medium ships like the Freelancer where you feel the weight in comparison to smaller more agile ships since smaller ships zip around too fast. Which works for the Hawk or the Arrow but not for the others that much.

But the flight model can be pretty fun at times. Look at this clip and flying for example. Using boost and going through those buildings looks nice and I can never fly that good so it is not easy to do that.

This is also a cool one showing some great flying.

This is a summary of the new flight model coming next year. It's a summary of the nearly hour long panel at CitCon from the flight team.

Well you had a better experience than me then. I had insane lose of control while taking off Port Olisar (even without throttling forward before), and experienced gimbal locks and/or whacky "gravitational pulls" that looked more like as if ship's self imposed but miscalculated force "I'm flying over a planet, I should react as if I was dragged towards the surface so I'll add a downward force but I can't figure where it's down whaaaa!"

There's definitely a flight model, but it's heavily crippled, or in a more supportive way: "it's tier-zero so don't complain though I have way for fun with it than any game ever, it's good for Star Citizen"

The FM whatever.0 they showcased at CitizenCon looked a lot more well thought-out and consistent.

How do you feel gravity and atmosphere impact the way the ship handles? ;)
