Geological/biological signals

So this is something I'd never experienced before, because who had that kind of time? But now you can map a planet, you can find these formations much more easily. Since I absolutely loathe SRVs, I will do literally anything to minimise the time spent in them, so I visited some of these features to scrape together some raw materials, e.g. iron, the sixth most common element in the universe which you can't buy anywhere at all for any price.

I think I'm misunderstanding something or missing something given all the excitement about this. Here's what I've been able to work out so far.

So you have geysers - shallow vent-like things with various colours of steam coming out. They have one of four different kinds of shootable thing on them and they drop raw materials based on the planet's mix of elements.

Then you have fumaroles, taller termite-looking vents with various colours of steam coming out. They have one of four different kinds of shootable thing on them and they drop raw materials based on the planet's mix of elements.

Then there's gas vents, medium-sized vents with various colours of steam coming out. They have one of four different kinds of shootable thing on them and they drop raw materials based on the planet's mix of elements.

Also you have spouts, which are like vents except they have pretty magma shooting up. They have one of four different kinds of shootable thing on them and they drop raw materials based on the planet's mix of elements.

Then there's brain trees, small forests of trees that come in six colours. They have one of four different kinds of shootable thing on them and they drop raw materials based on the planet's mix of elements.

Alternatively I could check out bark mounds, which shockingly have one colour. They have one of four different kinds of shootable thing on them and they drop raw materials based on the planet's mix of elements.

Or there's sinuous tubers, which looks like fumaroles but thinner. They have one of four different kinds of shootable thing on them and they drop raw materials based on the planet's mix of elements.

Of course, don't forget anemones, which come in lots of different hues. They have one of four different kinds of shootable thing on them and they drop raw materials based on the planet's mix of elements.

And never forget ye olde barnacles and spikes. You shoot them and they drop rando loot.

I mean, at first glance, it looks like 99% of the things you can take screenshots of next to your Krait Phantom are all the same single game mechanic with a single different model asset copy-pasted around the place, so I must be missing something.

Now do the same but include guardian and thargoid signals. Yes, everything is the same if you exclude things that are different.

You mean like Thargoid ruins, where you shoot things and they drop raw materials and/or manufactured materials with no in-game use? Or the Guardian ruins where you shoot things and they drop manufactured materials? I suppose you can also scan some of the things to get data - what a twist.

Lol. Seems exploring is not your thing. Maybe back to Ceos / Sothis or Robigo - I hear they are endlessly entertaining :D

Yes, you press buttons and things happen. Congratulations, you fully grasped how games work.

You jest, Factabulous - but I do actually manage to extract a tiny scintilla of pleasure from the Robigo run by approaching Sothis A5 from the dark side and trying to line that planet up with Sothis A so that my passengers get a good view of the planetary corona.

Of course I know my passengers couldn't care less about that; they're not there for the view, they're a bunch of crooks and shady businessmen using the Sirius Atmospherics run as a cover for clandestine deal-making. Why else would it pay so well?

Yep, imagination of a goldfish. I think they got the work experience guy to decide all these things whilst they were off creating endless bobblehead niff naff to please the fanbois.
