Patch Notes Update Update 3.3.01

Um no? The previous iteration of the exploration system seemed more like a placeholder. In fact, the concept art showed something much more similar to what we have now, so I think it's safe to say the new system was going to come eventually. Besides, the new system actually improves exploration, adding in more player interaction, not just mindlessly flying around, and improves the potential payout when an explorer comes back from say, a year of exploring with the new system. Not to mention, the new system is faster in general, not having to spend 30 minutes to get to a metal rich planet 30K ls away just to get a DSS so you can get the "first discovered by" tag. Instead, just zoom in on your FSS and turn in the data. Map the planet for extra credits, if you feel like spending the time to get there.

Yes the new system has a lot going for it :)

The old one should not have been removed and needs to be put back into the game. Since this oversight needs to be corrected sooner rather than later I was expecting it in the first patch. Hopefully it'll make the next one.

I had that bug, turned out i had the same key bound to exit FSS and Codex. (which should not be possible, but clearing the Codex key fixed it for me)

Mine are different, and have been since the first Beta the Codex was introduced when I first raised it as an issue.

You're either a troll or really arrogant to think that Fdev is just going to slap the old system back in after spending all year getting this new system ready for release. And I really hope you're a troll, because if you're really that arrogant then dang dude, you need help. The old system had nothing to it. Just pull a trigger, bring up the SM and move on, there was literally nothing there, and if there was something interesting half a lightyear away from you, like an ELW, AW or WW, you're SOL if you wanna get a scan on it because you're going to have to waste several hours just sitting there.

Would you please stop comments like “XXX is broken”, please?
<snip>

I'd settle for just a little context as to what is broken.

Whenever people just say "it's broken" — I have zero way of knowing if it's something I've also come across, let alone confirming it.

Thx for patches, but sadly this is far from enough for me to try propagate ED for my friends like I was used to do before. And ignoring of bug reports for graphic glitches, poor HUD visual appearance and similar stuff is not making it any better.

Oh well.
Note to everyone: FDev hasn’t announced this is the last patch they are ever going to do nor are they shutting down the ED portion of FDev. They apologize for not being able to fix every single bug, or address all players complaints, in the 4 working days since the release of a major game addition. In the meantime the world is continuing to turn, the sun rise, and people die.
They thank you for your patience.

Different people like different things :) I used the ADS for thousands of hours, over 30,000 systems & it worked for me. The ADS does things the new process does not, and having used the new system in beta & since launch I can confirm that there is no downside to having the pre-3.3 discovery process remain. They should not have been removed & doing so creates an issue which will only get worse the longer their absence continues.

The ADS & other modules should not have been removed & need to be put back into the game. Those players that prefer to go without an ADS (or BDS/IDS) gain a valuable module slot, and save some power & mass. This easily offsets the minor advantage the ADS has in specific, rare circumstances.

I only thinking now where I asked about your opinion Sir. I also did not expected fixing of graphic bugs in such short time frame, but reply to bug report(s) which are coming from more players need much less time imo. ... its also much nicer PR imo

The ADS wasn't removed, it was built-in in all ships as Discovery Scanner. And they chose, purposely, to not populate the system map anymore. Not by accident. By choice. To make you use the FSS.

You can dislike it but that choice has meaning and impact on gameplay. You want to explore, fine, so do the work like any explorer would do. No longer will you discover all system and configuration of the bodies by just pressing one single button.

The issue is some people can't accept that what was a placeholder and had no gameplay to it actually has some now.

still no incursions.

Why would there be? There aren't supposed to be any Thargoid attacks this week, each of Beyond's previous three updates were also followed by a week-long pause in Thargoid attacks.

Incursions will likely begin appearing after the scheduled weekly server downtime in about 18 hours, when the next weekly cycle begins.

Scanning Anemones (glowing space pumpkin) surface sites still isn't adding them/crediting you for discovery in the codex. Kind of disappointing but hopefully this gets fixed in the next patch.

Frack, that's the main thing I wanted this patch to fix too. :(

Well "spending" 30 minutes flying to a planet is sort of one of the design themes in ED. The universe is rather big, and you should feel it while playing.

But you'd rather have a bunch of quick fixes, right?

Unfortunately I don't think you're going to get through to him. A lot of people just don't get that the new system is here to stay, and we won't see the old system again.

However, Riverside, stating that their choice to not include both systems is an oversight, rather stating it as a fact, is extremely arrogant and actually really entitled. Spending thousands of hours on the old system doesn't mean that particular system should be reinstated just because you want it to be.

Thanks Will and Team. Wishing you all a happy Christmas.

I am well chuffed that there are stability fixes mentioned, I really hope the constantly vanishing or unresponsive bindings bug has been FULLY cured, along with the short but VERY annoying freeze/lock-up's which have hopefully been shown the door too.

I really hope this has fixed the PS4 issues, also I’m dreading the “save corrupt” message when I log in, is there anything frontier can do for me if this happens?

Usually a "corrupt save" message can simply be rectified by deleting your LOCAL save file on the console which only contains menu settings, FD login info, and keybinds anyway. PS+ users can overwrite it with a recent cloud save instead, or you could restore one you backed up to USB earlier. Way worse are the current issues where your actual online CMDR save enters a state which prompts the game/console to crash on load, afaik those can only be fixed by contacting FDev Support. Here's hoping they completely fixed the issue with today's patch.
